@Captain_Toad it's a shame we never got an official release of Phantasy Star: Generation 1 and 2 on PS2. Those were some decent remakes of the game.

@Captain_Toad I think EarthBoundBenjy covered it well. PS1 through Sega Ages is worth it, especially considering how expensive a physical copy is and the QOL fixes. It also has some references that show up in PS4. PS2 I personally like but it's very grindy (especially in the third act). The story is top notch and there are definitely some callbacks that come up in ps4 as well. PS3 is...definitely a sidestory and other than one small reference in PS4, it pretty much stands on its own. It has some good ideas with the having different paths based on who you marry but..the game itself is kinda bland.

Personally I think to fully appreciate PS4 it would be a good idea to play 1 and 2. Some of the references would make more sense playing it. But its up to you how you proceed.

@Expa0....you might be right. Cause other than Lunar 2 on Sega Cd, the jrpgs aren't as strong as snes. And as mentioned Lunar and Lunar 2 are Sega CD, not Genesis proper.

That being said the Shining games are definitely top tier. And I did like Landstalker too.

@KnightRider666 Thats very disappointing. I was looking forward to getting this on switch, but I will stick with the Namco Museum Vol. 4 version.

I had this game on Virtual Console. Definitely picking it up when it comes out. It's a great game with a pretty decent soundtrack.

Fusion wasn't bad....but i wasn't a fan of the linearity. The article does bring up some good ideas though...thoguh I would have much preferred they posted a picture of Nightmare rather than just describe it cause....seeing the picture would have been better.

@ncgarcez I feel like you're thinking Quackshot, which WOULD be great on the console along with Castle and World of Illusion. Heck both of those were on the Mini, so I wouldn't be surprised to see it show up at some point.

IDK if you have a 3DS, but theres a great Sega Ages port of Afterburner II that is well worth picking up. Im sad they never brought it to switch like they did with Space Harrier and OutRun

I had the game pre-ordered, but then i saw all the bugs and glitches and im like, "Never mind, I'll just wait til its more stable". Plus...I dont need that keychain so badly.

Why do i feel like they're still at least publishing copies of 3D All Stars?

Not going to lie, seeing Claymates on this list was not expected...but I'll definitely accept it because i actually had fun with the game....though I could never get past the first world.

When i saw Crazy Castle, i immediately just thought of the AVGN episode, and how bad he thought it was.

I used to love playing this game on Genesis...even though I keep getting slaughtered in the early levels. I'll be looking into this.

Already finished the demo. I definitely warmed up to the gameplay style. I will say, the brief loading time between battles (at least on PS4) definitely rubbed me the wrong way, and I hope that it changes.

If you plan on getting the game, I definitely recommend playing through the demo. Progress saves on it so you can just go through to the next in story event. SO less tutorial stuff.

Ive recently been playing COTM on portable, and ive really liked it. Ive tinkered a bit with Harmony of Dissonance...but i have to say the music in the game is not good. Though the game still plays well. I really hope we do get these games cause Id totally play it. Heck Id be happy if we got some of the DS games as well, and even Rebirth,...though I wouldn't be surprised if that were saved for a Konami Rebirth collection with Gradius and Contra Rebirth

I think this list might be a bit better without the compilations...i mena thats bit cheap to put in....I also think that MM3 is better than MM2. I feel like MM2 refined the MM formula, but MM3 perfected it and added in some cool things like the slide and the first appearance of Protoman

Im going with the NA version. It fits in with the overall feeling of the game again.

Already pre-ordered the collectors edition. Looking forward to more Wonderboy greatness.

@TDRsuperstar2 currently there are two wonder boy games on switch in addition to Monster Boy. Wonder Boy Returns is a remake of the first game and is more of a platformer. But Wonder Boy 3 Dragons Trap is similar to Monster Boy

I wouldn't sell them short. Monster Land, Dragon's Trap, Wonder boy in Monster World and Monster World IV are more akin to Monster Boy. They have flaws but are pretty good. Definitely give them a look.

This series is very dear to me so sorry if im sounding a bit biased.

I have a feeling in America this might get the limited run treatment. I definitely want that collectors edition.

@TDRsuperstar2 so the series started off as Wonder Boy, but eventually changed into the Monster World series with more focus on action. So when they brought the series back as Monster Boy it was because they didn't have the rights to the Wonder Boy name, thus we got the combination of Monster World and Wonder Boy into Monster Boy.

The original game on genesis was called Monster World IV since it was the fourth game in the monster world series (The order is Monster Land, Dragons Trap, Wonder Boy in Monster World, and Monster World IV).

Hopefully this didn't confuse you even further.

Phantasy Star was a loveletter to the game. They did such a great job with the QoL fixes and stuff like that. I always recommend people play this version of the game.

Honestly all of the TechnoSoft games were given some great love. Thunder Force IV had some great extras and ThunderForce AC was really good too. And then Herzog Zwei was a great port too considering how hard the game is to find.

Virtua Racing was so cool playing on one screen with 8 players. I just wish i had 8 people to play with.

@Maximums4083 I think i will check it out. The original game, while not perfect, really had a great style and was fun. From what I've seen the second is even better.

Never played 2. Maybe this is a good time to get it.

Edit: After some research, i discovered that that is indeed Mandip Gill from Doctor Who.

The European one is the best imo. The American one looks like Inigo Montoya grew out his hair and took out his frustration out on soccer after losing to Dread Pirate Roberts.

You know, when i popped in the title on my switch, part of me thought "Well, what about the NES version?" heck, i still have the Wii version (the lazy port). BUt...idk, part of me feels like i want to just go and play most of the NES versions. Like, SMB3 on NES feels right to me. I prefer the 8-bit music over the 16-bit soundtrack.

I'll definitely play SMB2 on the SNES though because of all the changes.

At the moment im nto worried because it is still in development. But ngl, im disappointed that this wasn't a new game like had originally been discusssed.

Also, Im surprised they skipped porting Wonder Boy in Monster World. Classic Wonderboy, Wonder Boy III got remakes (and in a sense we got Monster Land in an AGES release). That one is my favorite in the series.

The Rocky game that came out for PS2/GC/Xbox was pretty fun, so I'm hoping this will be fun. Im intrigued but...at the moment Im waiting.

When i heard this announcement, it made me realize how much i love the WonderBoy series. Ive been playing it since Master System, and have loved practically all of the games (...well Dragon's Lair i can live without). So, I was super excited hearing that theres a new game with Asha. I really hope it delivers, but considering the passion the original team has for this series, I feel like it'll deliver.
