Re: Guide: The 20 SNES Games On Nintendo Switch Online, Ranked By Us

You know, im surprised at the hate that BoF gets. Its definitely a bit rough around the edges, but there are some pretty cool things that it did. The Fishing mechanic (while too simple) was nice (and would be branched out later), and combining characters was cool. Its not perfect, but i dont think it deserves the hate it gets.

@Anti-Matter As much as a convenience it would be to have all SF games on current Gen, im quite happy with my previous versions. I have SF Alpha Anthology on PS2, considering it has all the enhanced versions (Alpha 2 Gold and Alpha 3 Upper) and you can change the revisions unlike the current gen version. Also, I think that the balancing done with Third Strike on PS3 was good enough for it. I'd honestly just be missing out on the game for Second Impact, and all the SF2 games...and the travesty that is SF...i hate that game.

Re: Soapbox: In Praise Of Save States, Rewinds And Walkthroughs

Spider-Man vs. The Kingpin on Genesis is one game I was ok using save states for. The main reason being that if you don't beat the last boss within a time limit (which is shown by a character being lowered into a firey pit), you will automatically lose and get a game over. This wouldn't be a problem (in fact, the same thing happens in Revenge of Shinobi with a falling wall) if Kingpin wasn't so difficult to beat. You literally have to hit him in the face and have pixel perfect aiming. I remember streaming the game, and I was lucky to beat him the first try. Regardless...its still pretty intense, and there is no way that im going to start the entire game over just because the designers made Kingpin's hit box so small. Screw that!

Re: Review: Pokémon Red and Blue (3DS / GB)

I do have to say, as much as I enjoy these games, I do feel they show signs of aging. Its not the graphics either. I enjoy the classic style. There are a few things that were added in the newer games that I wish could have been in this game. These are just super minor things of course like the exp bar that fills up as your exp does. It gets a tad bit annoying to have to go into the menu, select the pokemon and figure out when its gaining a level. Then again, this was the 90s and thats pretty typical of that time. Ive been spoiled by these newer games where the meter is on the screen.

Also, is it just me or is the beginning of t his game very grind heavy?

Re: Six More Retro SEGA 3DS HOME Themes Are on the Way

Pally356

I already bought the Genesis theme. I love the Phantasy Star II and IV SFX when you're scrolling. Also, the Sega CD v2 theme is a nice touch too...one that I wasn't expecting.

As far as future themes go, I plan on getting the Saturn Theme and the SMS theme. I wonder if the background music on the SMS theme is going to be the Snail Maze game music.

I never really got to play OutRunners in the arcade (the one time i did see it in the arcade, a friend of mine insisted that he play it and not me even though it was my money). The genesis version doesn't do it justice. Hopefully this will be a future release.

Re: Review: 3D Super Hang-On (3DS eShop)

You know, im starting to become more and more impressed with the M2 ports that have been coming out. I feel like they put Virtual Console to shame.

I would pick this game up, but unfortunately I do have it on PSN so I dont think I'll double dip.

I know this isn't for the 3DS version, but one nifty thing about the Sega Ports is you can have a universal jukebox throughout all of the games. So I can be playing something like Toe-Jam and Earl and enter the jukebox mode and have music from other Sega games like Super Hang-On or Space Harrier playing. It would be a nice addition that could be added to the 3DS games.
