I don't know if they're brave or foolish for still going through with a console release of this game after the PC release got an absolute thrashing; not sure if any amount of post-release bug fixes/polish will be able to salvage this one at this rate.
North American is a little too generic and Japanese just looks like a collage of the key art; European actually is more reminiscent of the previous Wario Land box art.
Honestly, the only two titles in the Disney Classic Games collection that are still worth playing are the SNES and Genesis versions of Aladdin; still wish Disney would team up with Capcom again to get the Disney Afternoon collection on Switch, and maybe update it to include the excellent Goof Troop SNES game for good measure.
Honestly, I didn't even know a Switch port of this game was in the cards. But then again, I forgot this game even existed before it recently released despite loving the first movie so what do I know?
"we always make sure the story fits with the lore"? Is that why characters and major world-shattering events (sometimes literally) just tend to phase in and out of existence with zero explanation or is this just an attempt to save face and give the impression that they know what they're doing?
Considering October is already pretty busy and that it gives more time to make absolutely sure these ports are Switch-ready, I'm perfectly okay with this delay.
Considering Nintendo's history of having a massive amount of pride as their own company, the fact that they are financially sitting the prettiest they've been since the Wii or NES days (possibly even better) and that the XBox brand in Japan is usually considered laughable at best, I think Phil might be letting the Activision-Blizzard buyout get to his head.
Honestly, I was disappointed this is what F-Zero got after all this time of nothing but once I played it after work, it's probably the best "99" game since Tetris. The gameplay of F-Zero lends itself so well to the battle royal format and I had trouble putting it down for bed when I first tried it. Hoping word of mouth helps this game picks up enough steam for Nintendo to gain a renewed interest in the IP.
It's crazy to me that a game directly inspired off of the CD-i Zelda games has become one of my most anticipated indie games in a while but hearing about the creator's passion for this project has made me look forward to it all the more.
Personally, even as a big Cuphead fan, I don't have any strong feelings towards this game either way but I can already see the What Happened episode on this game popping up on Matt McMuscles' YouTube page.
Both kind of give off the vibe of "haphazardly fan-made box art from the mid-2000s Internet" but I guess at least the NA one tried to set itself apart a little more from other games in the series with the Mega Mario gimmick.
Of all the things on my 2023 bingo card, a Gameboy Color tie-in game for an often forgotten Warner Bros. animated movie developed by the same studio that made Superman 64 getting added to NSO was definitely...unexpected.
(Not sure why I even wrote such a weirdly specific thing on my bingo card.)
Considering Manny was one of the most obvious choices for this series, it's great to finally see him here and represent a criminally overlooked Nicktoon.
Hoping that ChalkZone eventually gets a fighter too but that's just me being too optimistic.
Having had the opportunity to meet Mr. Martinet a handful of times now, I can safely say that not only is he an icon that has breathed life into these beloved characters, he's also one of the nicest and most passionate VAs in the business and deserves the world. I wish him all of the best in his new position and thank him from the bottom of my heart for changing the childhoods and lives of so many of us for the better; truly the end of an era but as he would usually tell me the times I've met him, Charles, you numbah one!
@Martijn87 Think Twin Snakes is caught up in a pretty tangled legal web since it was co-developed with Silicon Knights; which hoo boy, that's a story and a half of how that developer was burned and then crashed and burned...
Have a few regrets selling some games when I needed money over the years; still kicking myself over parting with Super Princess Peach and my PSP with Castlevania Dracula X Chronicles.
Considering Arkham City is the only game I absolutely want on my Switch, I'll probably just buy that one by itself digitally when it goes on sale since it doesn't come on the physical cart anyway and I'd rather not give up a likely massive chunk of SD card space just for Arkham Knight.
Seems like a perfectly fine beat em up to impulse buy at a discount but considering this is the series that was basically the trail blazer of the genre in the 80s, it's kind of sad that Double Dragon seems to have peaked with Neon in 2012 when it come to reinventing itself for modern platforms and still hasn't gotten its Streets of Rage 4, Shredder's Revenge, or River City Girls it so desperately needs to be a force among its peers again.
As much as I still want to see Kid Icarus, Punch-Out, Sin & Punishment, Golden Sun and Star Fox return in some form outside of NSO and Smash, the optimistic side of my mind is still holding out hope for a true, modern Mysterious Murasame Castle sequel.
This is honestly horrifying news; Microsoft is basically working towards having a monopoly on the gaming industry and it's only going to encourage them or Sony to swipe up other major publishers/developers to further that.
Castlevania box art is almost always incredible with very few exceptions and that's no different here with both of these. NA art just barely wins for me since I can't help but love the framing of Shanoa and Albus in front of the moonlit castle.
Purple Pikmin in 2 were SO stupidly overpowered that they were the only kind of Pikmin that could put even the dreaded Waterwraith in its place. The devs of 3 KNEW they had to rein in that beast.
I really enjoy Jujutsu Kaisen but hard to get excited since this looks like they just lazily slapped the series over the exact same engine for the My Hero Academia 3D brawler from 2018.
I enjoyed those My Hero games don't get me wrong but would have preferred if Jujutsu Kaisen was given an RPG or a Devil May Cry/Bayonetta style action game.
All three are hilariously bizarre for different reasons but I'd have to go with the Japanese box art since it reminds me of an arcade flyer, which fits the game the best being a goofy, arcade-style rhythm game.
I mostly get Gamecube-era licensed title from this, looks very by the numbers but at least it seems like some effort is going into it.
With as incredible as it is, I wish the Avatar series would do a bit more in the video game space outside of the "standard action game" format (an Avatar fighting game or even an RPG that isn't the Korra Fire Emblem knock-off on 3DS could have a lot of potential) but I guess this at least doesn't look like a slap in the face.
Crusader of Centy is honestly one of the most exciting additions to Switch Online in a hot minute considering it's an excellent Zelda-like and is near impossible to play officially outside of the Genesis Mini 2.
NA/EU for me out of personal bias because I have gotten my North American copy of this box art signed by several of the game's English voice actors at conventions.
They majorly shot themselves in the foot not including any sort of multi-player feature here; playing with someone else is usually when puzzle games are at their best.
Open to the idea just so long as they don't completely reimagine VI as a modern-day Final Fantasy; I can't take another Kingdom Hearts game wearing a gritty FF skin.
So the Mania team didn't return to help with Superstars but Sonic Team and Arzest still fully translated their physics engine into Superstars? Still not sure why they didn't just fully bring them in to help make the game altogether but at least they're aware enough to know they had something good there and didn't let the hard work of The Taxman and company go to waste.
Considering the Switch got Persona 5 Strikers and Joker in Smash Bros. before it even got P5 Royal, not surprised in the slightest this will be on Switch as well.
While I do still think P3 Reload is likely to show up on Switch at some point, Atlus has had a history of making bizarre choices so going to approach it as a "it happens if it happens" type of deal.
Seeing the screenshots of the Switch version are admittedly a little deflating. Sure, they don't look dreadful like everyone online is making them out to be and I probably won't care that much as long as the gameplay remains intact but considering that the Switch is able to handle side-scrolling games with 3D visuals like Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze, Metroid Dread, Mega Man 11, and Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair just fine without much visual sacrifice, Sonic Team and Arzest don't have much of an excuse when visually the game isn't exactly pushing modern hardware to its limits as it is.
Both have their appeal but would go with the US/EU box art for the more dynamic chaos it depicts which better captures how hectic some levels in DKC can get.
Game looks good and I know that preview impressions have been positive but considering that I haven't personally liked a single game I have played from Arzest, I'm going to keep my excitement in check.

Lost Levels easily but just because the level designers chose violence that day.
