Re: Ace Attorney Fans Rejoice, The Franchise Is Not Stopping Anytime Soon

OstianOwl

As much as I want to belive in Ace Attorney 7, I'm guessing an Investigations duology collection is what's in store in the next few years; which don't get me wrong, it would be great to finally officially get Investigations 2 out of Japan but I don't want to think about how long of a gap it's been since Spirit of Justice...

Re: 35 Upcoming Nintendo Switch Games To Look Forward To In 2024

OstianOwl

One game I would note is missing here is AntonBlast, the throwback to GBA-era platformers that pretty clearly wears its Wario Land 4 inspiration on its sleeve. While no release date or even window has been given yet, the devs have said they're shooting for a 2024 release date and if the Steam demo I've played is any indication, this will for sure be a game for anyone like me who has been starved for a new Wario Land game.

Also of what's not listed here, pretty excited that Freedom Planet 2 will finally be Switch-bound this year.

Re: Feature: 25 Nintendo 64 Games We'd Love To See Added To The Switch Online Expansion Pack

Would be wonderful if Konami would play ball so we could get not only the N64 Goemon and Bomberman games on the service but for the NES, SNES and Gameboy as well.
Other than those though, mostly holding out hope for Mischief Makers, Rayman 2, and Mega Man 64 to appear (unless Capcom decides they want to make a MM Legends collection that I would totally buy if they did, wink wink...).

Re: Feature: Best Switch Video Game Characters Of 2023

OstianOwl

Best boy Oatchi definitely is my favorite.

And while Fire Emblem Engage is admittedly a little "eh" on its original characters (especially next to previous entries), I would say there can be a case made for Yunaka being the breakout star of Engage even if I personally prefer Chloe and Timerra.

Re: E3 Has Been Cancelled, Permanently

OstianOwl

Sad more so for it showing the end of an era and I'll always have my good memories related to previous shows but it's about time it was definitively put out of its misery; E3 had been dying a slow and awkward death for the last decade now.

Re: Sega Plans To Revive Even "More" Legacy Franchises

OstianOwl

Little iffy on the new Jet Set Radio's visuals not being quite as saturated as the previous games since I always thought that the super-saturated cel-shaded graphics were part of the series' identity but will reserve judgment since this is likely very early in development footage; however, I absolutely dig the hand-drawn art style Shinobi seems to be going for.

NiGHTS, Skies of Arcadia and traditional non-MMO Phantasy Star are definitely the series I'm hoping the most make a comeback. While NiGHTS is my personal favorite, Skies and Phantasy would make sense if Sega tossed either of them at Atlus; I mean, might as well make use of the RPG wizards you bought.

Re: 'Felix The Cat' Konami Collection Surfaces On The ESRB

OstianOwl

Knew about the NES game from Hudson Soft but didn't know there were enough Felix the Cat games to make a collection out of (unless it's just the NES and Gameboy games I'm aware of in which case, calling it a collection is a bit of a stretch).
But guess if this tells me anything, it means Konami is willing to do new compilations of Hudson's work so I hope that leads to new releases for Bomberman, Bonk and Adventure Island.

Re: Talking Point: What's The Most Difficult Mainline Mario Game?

OstianOwl

@HeadPirate My guy, nobody is upset or intending to argue about anything; all I'm saying is that I can load up Famicom Mario 2 on my Switch's Online NES app right now or look at my VC purchase of it on my old Wii and it'll be referred to as "The Lost Levels" so technically, it is retroactively an alternative title for the Famicom version to at least non-Japanese audiences if Nintendo is to be believed. Not saying what version of the game is correctly or incorrectly "The Lost Levels", just that Nintendo themselves have referred to the Famicom Mario 2 as "The Lost Levels" more than once in an official capacity.

Also the "Mario USA" mention was mostly because in your original comment I responded to, you mentioned that was the title given to the All-Stars version of The Lost Levels due to its easier difficulty. Excuse me, was kind of an aside on my original response; just too much of a video game history aficionado to not bring that up and am usually ready to talk about gaming history at the drop of a hat.

Re: Talking Point: What's The Most Difficult Mainline Mario Game?

OstianOwl

@HeadPirate Counterpoint: Nintendo tends to officially refer to Japanese Super Mario Bros. 2 as "The Lost Levels" retroactively with the various Virtual Console and Switch Online re-releases of the original Famicom version so technically referring to the Famicom release as "The Lost Levels" is about as valid as referring to the game "Nazo no Murasamejou" as "The Mysterious Murasame Castle".

Also "Super Mario USA" is the name given to the international Super Mario Bros. 2 (the reworked Doki Doki Panic) when that version was released in Japan to distinguish it from Japan's Super Mario 2 and also likely so Nintendo could future-proof re-releases of the game in all regions without needing to pay licensing fees to Fuji TV for use of their characters but that's just a personal theory.
