As someone who grew up with the CD-i Zelda & Mario cutscenes via YouTube Poops over the years and thought that the games themselves actually had a lot of potential if developed better, I'm genuinely excited for this game.
And that CD-i style controller is just hilariously going the extra mile.
As much as I want to belive in Ace Attorney 7, I'm guessing an Investigations duology collection is what's in store in the next few years; which don't get me wrong, it would be great to finally officially get Investigations 2 out of Japan but I don't want to think about how long of a gap it's been since Spirit of Justice...
One game I would note is missing here is AntonBlast, the throwback to GBA-era platformers that pretty clearly wears its Wario Land 4 inspiration on its sleeve. While no release date or even window has been given yet, the devs have said they're shooting for a 2024 release date and if the Steam demo I've played is any indication, this will for sure be a game for anyone like me who has been starved for a new Wario Land game.
Also of what's not listed here, pretty excited that Freedom Planet 2 will finally be Switch-bound this year.
Would be wonderful if Konami would play ball so we could get not only the N64 Goemon and Bomberman games on the service but for the NES, SNES and Gameboy as well.
Other than those though, mostly holding out hope for Mischief Makers, Rayman 2, and Mega Man 64 to appear (unless Capcom decides they want to make a MM Legends collection that I would totally buy if they did, wink wink...).
As great as Rocket Knight Adventures is and as enjoyable as the Felix the Cat games are as far as licensed games from around that time go, at this point I just want Konami to do a retro collection for Goemon or Bomberman.
And while Fire Emblem Engage is admittedly a little "eh" on its original characters (especially next to previous entries), I would say there can be a case made for Yunaka being the breakout star of Engage even if I personally prefer Chloe and Timerra.
I remember loving this game on Steam a few years ago so would love to play it again on Switch; just somewhat curious how it will be played with a controller when the original control scheme was so centered on the mouse/keyboard set up.
As bad as these Bill & Ted games were and still are, it's still a shame to see any game/collection just poof out of existence likely because of some licensing shenanigans.
Glad he's going to be gone soon but he should have been gone a LOT sooner and it's rather unfortunate that a lot of the troubling things he's been accused of have seemingly gone unchecked...
Honestly love the idea of the Mario cast taking inspiration from mostly silent comedic characters like Mr. Bean where the body language and facial expressions can yield so much personality; it just makes a lot of sense for the series that doesn't take itself too seriously and barely has any spoken dialogue.
If I had a nickel for every time one of the original members of Normal Boots had a cameo removed from an indie game following a controversy, I'd have two nickels. Which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice.
Anyone who didn't see this coming was kidding themselves. While on the other hand, Nintendo is kidding themselves thinking they killed this port when it's already on the Internet.
Sad more so for it showing the end of an era and I'll always have my good memories related to previous shows but it's about time it was definitively put out of its misery; E3 had been dying a slow and awkward death for the last decade now.
Little iffy on the new Jet Set Radio's visuals not being quite as saturated as the previous games since I always thought that the super-saturated cel-shaded graphics were part of the series' identity but will reserve judgment since this is likely very early in development footage; however, I absolutely dig the hand-drawn art style Shinobi seems to be going for.
NiGHTS, Skies of Arcadia and traditional non-MMO Phantasy Star are definitely the series I'm hoping the most make a comeback. While NiGHTS is my personal favorite, Skies and Phantasy would make sense if Sega tossed either of them at Atlus; I mean, might as well make use of the RPG wizards you bought.
Not being able to buy Arkham City on its own is a deal breaker honestly; I just wanted to have one of my favorite superhero games playable on my Switch without having to worry about a game I don't want hogging a chunk of my SD card, especially when that game is apparently more broken than Arkham Knight's initial PC port.
I get wanting to avoid another Chris Judge acceptance speech situation but the way they went about it was just disrespectful to all the winning members of the game dev community that they're suppose to be celebrating, not just Aonuma; and all for what? So we have time for more commercials and unfunny celebrity bits?
Great for Zelda, fantastic game and a well-deserved award, but all I really care about with tonight's awards was Pikmin 4 winning best strategy/sim game; little guys really moving up in the world and I'm living for it.
I can't look at screenshots of Minature Golf without thinking of the AVGN episode where the Nerd started having a mental breakdown and cracking up over it.
Love this game so all for Ubisoft making a good decision for once and doing a modern console port. Now if only we could get some current gen ports of the original Rayman trilogy...
@E_Gadds_Garage A suit based on the Adam West series was in Arkham Knight but it was in a DLC pack exclusive to the PS4 version of the game so guess we'll see how serious WB is about giving the Switch previously released content.
The Batman was probably my favorite DC movie in a long time other than Gunn's Suicide Squad so this is pretty neat; just too bad it's only for Arkham Knight when I'm only planning on getting Arkham City.
I mean, I'm glad the game is still getting supported but hoping they at least add an offline mode sometime in the future so this game isn't lost to time when the servers are inevitably shut down (which, knowing Nintendo, will happen).
Knew about the NES game from Hudson Soft but didn't know there were enough Felix the Cat games to make a collection out of (unless it's just the NES and Gameboy games I'm aware of in which case, calling it a collection is a bit of a stretch). But guess if this tells me anything, it means Konami is willing to do new compilations of Hudson's work so I hope that leads to new releases for Bomberman, Bonk and Adventure Island.
If he's not just messing with these fans, this checks out; MK is a little touch and go regarding getting original actors back to voice legacy characters (while MK11 got Stallone for Rambo and Weller for RoboCop, the Terminator wasn't Schwarzenegger).
@iLikeUrAttitude To be fair, Richard Epcar has voiced the Joker a handful of times before his appearance in MK11 while Mark was still actively voicing the character so at least that wasn't too much of a stretch in that situation.
Hoping to see console ports of Freedom Planet 2 or Pizza Tower (despite it likely still being too soon for the latter) but these are usually fun presentations regardless to bring attention to any games I might have missed out on otherwise.
I have been hearing incredible things about Baulder's Gate 3 so as much as I love Mario Wonder and Tears of the Kingdom, I'm guessing that one has Game of the Year in the bag. I'm also rooting for Hi-Fi Rush and Pikmin 4 to take home at least one award and for Pizza Tower in best debut indie.
If it is backwards compatible and more or less a full replacement for the Switch, would most likely pass it on to a family member seeing as I've done that before when I gave my initial Switch to my mother-in-law because she wanted to play Animal Crossing with my SO and I.
I can agree on Geno and Oatchi and will add on that I would without question buy amiibo of either Travis Touchdown or Bomberman if Nintendo worked with their companies to somehow manifest those longshots into existence.
Realistic wishes though, I would love some WarioWare amiibo (would settle for even just Ashley).
Happy with the selections overall but it seems so odd that they hit so many fan favorites with the Booster Course Pass and yet missed three pretty big ones with N64 Bowser's Castle, Airship Fortress, and Toad's Factory.
@HeadPirate My guy, nobody is upset or intending to argue about anything; all I'm saying is that I can load up Famicom Mario 2 on my Switch's Online NES app right now or look at my VC purchase of it on my old Wii and it'll be referred to as "The Lost Levels" so technically, it is retroactively an alternative title for the Famicom version to at least non-Japanese audiences if Nintendo is to be believed. Not saying what version of the game is correctly or incorrectly "The Lost Levels", just that Nintendo themselves have referred to the Famicom Mario 2 as "The Lost Levels" more than once in an official capacity.
Also the "Mario USA" mention was mostly because in your original comment I responded to, you mentioned that was the title given to the All-Stars version of The Lost Levels due to its easier difficulty. Excuse me, was kind of an aside on my original response; just too much of a video game history aficionado to not bring that up and am usually ready to talk about gaming history at the drop of a hat.
@HeadPirate Counterpoint: Nintendo tends to officially refer to Japanese Super Mario Bros. 2 as "The Lost Levels" retroactively with the various Virtual Console and Switch Online re-releases of the original Famicom version so technically referring to the Famicom release as "The Lost Levels" is about as valid as referring to the game "Nazo no Murasamejou" as "The Mysterious Murasame Castle".
Also "Super Mario USA" is the name given to the international Super Mario Bros. 2 (the reworked Doki Doki Panic) when that version was released in Japan to distinguish it from Japan's Super Mario 2 and also likely so Nintendo could future-proof re-releases of the game in all regions without needing to pay licensing fees to Fuji TV for use of their characters but that's just a personal theory.
