Re: Feature: Games That Got Us Through Tough Times

OstianOwl

For me, Fire Emblem Awakening came out at the exact time in my life when I most needed it. Some bad experiences in high school and my friend circle completely splitting up after graduation caused me to become a recluse; I had been in college for a few years at that point and had basically no friends I actively talked to or spent time with and didn't go to any parties since I had thrown myself so deep into my school work. I grabbed Awakening on a whim when it released since I remembered having fun with the GBA and DS games in the series and I became obsessed, playing it every chance I could get when I was waiting on the campus for my classes to start and when I had free time in-between studying. For lack of a better term, it reawakened my love of Fire Emblem and I started talking with more people in the common areas of the campus when I happen to see them also playing Awakening.
And one summer, I actually decided to go to a convention that was being hosted in my town cosplaying as the main avatar character Robin and that started a conversation with another cosplayer who would slowly become my best friend and years after that, my best friend basically introduced me to the woman who would become my girlfriend now of over five years and just so happens to, as she puts it, breathes Fire Emblem. So in a way, Awakening basically broke me out of my social shell and helped me establish new relationships I had basically given up on after high school.

Re: Capcom Releasing "Multiple Major New Titles" By March 31, 2023

Considering this consists of two legacy collections, a DLC expansion, and three last-to-current gen ports I heavily question if Capcom knows what "new titles" means. Pragmata seems interesting but they haven't said or shown enough of it yet and Exoprimal lost me by being another multi-player focus game instead of the Dino Crisis spiritual successor it initially looked like. And Capcom seriously needs to give Street Fighter a break for a few years and try a new game in another of their fighting series; coming from someone who was insanely excited when Street Fighter IV was announced and enjoyed it and its expansions, I just feel burned out on Street Fighter at this point and have been turning to KOF and Skullgirls for my fighter fix instead.
Oh well; looking forward to playing Darkstalkers on current hardware at least, though a new Ace Attorney or even modern ports of the Viewtiful Joe games would be nice...

Re: Rumour: Could Switch Get Zelda: Wind Waker And Twilight Princess This Year?

OstianOwl

Well, with Breath of the Wild 2 being delayed to next year and Nintendo doing some Zelda related release every year for a while now, that can only mean...
LINK'S CROSSBOW TRAINING HD, BABY
LET'S GO

In all seriousness though, it wouldn't surprise me if Nintendo has been sitting on Switch ports of both Wind Waker and Twilight Princess as a backup if BotW2 missed 2022.

Re: Feature: What's Your Biggest Nintendo Launch Day Regret?

OstianOwl

Biggest launch regret? The original 3DS, as in the hardware itself. It was chunky (not aesthetically pleasing to look at AND felt ridged to hold when playing games; Kid Icarus Uprising was a nightmare with that thing) and had horrible battery life to the point where I invested in a 3rd party battery which made it even chunkier. Plus the way the touch screen jutted out ended up scratching up my top screen from carrying it in my pocket too much, basically messing up the 3D effect.
Main net positives I got for jumping the gun on my 3DS hype were getting those GBA games and getting to experience Fire Emblem Awakening right when it launched.

Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl: Duel #91 - Mario Golf

North American art takes this one; I like how most of the major characters are there and Bowser's expression makes me chuckle. Japanese box just looks like Lakitu took a mid-flight photo of Mario a millisecond too late and only got his ear.

Re: Nintendo Leaker Suggests Pricing Of Switch Online's Expansion Pack Could Be Tied To "Licensing Costs"

If this is true then honestly, I'd be okay if we lived in the alternate timeline where they only added N64 games and the yearly fee was 40 instead of 50. Don't get me wrong: I LOVE the Sega Genesis and its library but we already had access to the confirmed games on the Switch via different collections and the inclusion of Genesis games in NSO seemed a bit random to begin with.
