Almost everyone knows the economy is bad, and before people spend all their money, and their Christmas Club checks, which come out in October, co.s want to put their wares out as early as possible to maximize profit margins.
Usually, in my stores, Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas are out early. Halloween stuff has been available for a while, and as soon as October 1st comes, Christmas decorations, and other things start becoming available moreso than previously. By the last week of October, or second-to-last week, most of Halloween has been packed away for, and until the following year.
92 days to Christmas, if you don't count today, or the target calendar date.
I enjoy Nintendo, while still knowing they are not my friend, personally. Additionally, like most people, I don't game 24/7, because that isn't healthy in any way, and it would interfere with more important things in life. I enjoy their products. That's completely normal, and healthy. So, enjoy the celebration!
@JJtheTexan @SalvorHardin Rock/Mega Man was designed with a stage, and enemy layout formulas that are very easy to copy. This almost guarantees it's possible for others to work on the IP. These formulas were finalized halfway through the first game, and if properly mimicked, can be used repeatedly to make good quality titles.
@Everythingnotsaved: That's a calculated risk I think Nintendo is willing to take. They have no idea how their next system will perform in the market. Once it is available, people new-to-gaming might be convinced to purchase, even if they already have recently bought a Switch, perhaps even this specific bundle. As such, they might as well add numbers to the sales of the Switch, which they know has sold like hotcakes. At this moment, the next system is not a guaranteed profit-maker. The Switch has been, and probably still is. Plus, it is something that Nintendo would love to wear as a badge. The Switch might end with sales numbers surpassing other consoles from other co.s (Microsoft, Sony, etc.).
@Everyone-Else:This is typical for the Christmas/Hanukkah/Kwanzaa/etc. season, especially when Nintendo is nearing release of information on the Switch successor. That's common sense. They want to catch any late adopters, or people interested in another Switch, perhaps even as a replacement for an already-owned, and well worn Switch.
@Ulysses You're welcome. Also, when any amount of data becomes corrupted, it depends on the programming. Usually, if the program can not properly handle the corruption, the game, or computer program will crash. Most of the time, programmers are not able to account for literally every situation that would cause errors. Simultaneously, they would want to make their program, in this case, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, as resilient as possible to crashing from errors. Handling of overflow, and/or corruption errors vary between games.
The economy is hurting everybody in one form, or another. The exceptions would be certain rich individuals, and certain groups of rich individuals. It must also be stated that not all rich are villains.
Too bad for these individuals. Prayerfully, & hopefully, they'll soon enough find work elsewhere.
@Ulysses A buffer, in computer terminology, is memory that holds data being moved from one point of hardware/software to another point. Think of a point where vehicles need to get to. Vehicles legally can not block traffic on a bridge, except under certain circumstances. However, the bridge is wide enough to temporarily hold all the vehicles, while they slowly exit, moving through to the other side, and this process may continue until all the traffic is through. That is essentially a buffer. The part about an overflow error correction refers to how the game programming handles that particular space of memory, the buffer, being full. When a piece of fixed-sized memory is in overflow, it means the program is attempting to store more data in that location. This results in data being lost, or corrupted, unless proper coding is put in a program to compensate for these situations.
Nintendo wants the NX to go the distance. Like I typed the other day, I'm ok upgrading, though not in any hurry, as I'm extremely satisfied with my Switch, and library.
My Switch is from Christmases ago. Thank God it's held up, though it is showing wear-&-tear from heavy use. Over that time, it has gotten plenty of play time, and I have a very satisfying library of games. I'm not fatigued of Switch, and simultaneously, I'm ok with new hardware, too. I can wait. I'm in no hurry. Why rush the end of a good thing!?
Nice. Also, Tetris co.'s Henk Rogers, once said he regretted giving Nintendo license to name Panel De Pon Tetris Attack, so who knows if that will ever be released. I, too, would like more games on the NSO, such as Rolling Thunder 3.
As a side note, it'd be nice if Disney would license their Indiana Jones, and Star Wars titles from the NES, SNES, and Genesis.
Sonic Mania Plus is awesome! My first Switch title. I'm not a fan of Sonic to the degree I am of Super Mario Bros., or Mega Man. However, I do love the Genesis titles, and Mania was absolutely perfect for what it is supposed to be. I still do laugh at Sega being jealous that Mania was praised, while Forces wasn't.
I just now finished my first on Switch, though umpteenth all together, playthrough of KOTOR2 minutes ago. The base game is good, though if you owned/still own it on PC, you know what you are missing. TSLRCM (The Sith Lords Restored Content Mod) makes the game better, as it was designed to be as close as possible to the vision the developers intended for the game, at least as far as the modders believed to be their original intentions. In this respect, KOTOR is fine on Switch, because it feels like a complete game, whereas KOTOR2 feels incomplete, and it was rushed out the door to meet a release deadline. Still, I purchased it on sale 2 months ago, and for a greatly reduced price, it's worth it. However, if you have the original Xbox version of the game, the PC version, the Steam version, or even the mobile version, those can be modded, mostly easily, to include the TSLRCM. It's such a shame the game could only be released in vanilla form.
I was around before the NES was on shelves, and I was a 4 when the GB came out. I had a sizable library, though because of my vision, I played on a SGB, and then I eventually got a GBC for a birthday, which I still have today, and it works. I even still have a few games
I really hope Nintendo adds full SGB emulation support to the NSO GB library.
Ironically, this was one of the benefits to the game design formula that was fully cooked during the creation of Rock Man/Mega Man, and was fully implemented into the sequel, RM2/MM2. The formula allowed flexibility in who the members of the design team were for each game, because each game follows the same formula, with enough room for minor changes from title to title. This is the same formula that allowed Capcom to slowwalk, & have 6 RM/MM titles on the NES, before finally transitioning the ip over to the SNES.
If Capcom truly wants to continue the series, then they should set aside a budget for 2, or 3 new games, and do what they did with the property in the 80's, and 90's, keeping the ip relevant by releasing titles yearly. Of course, to make the games look nice, games require larger budgets, so yearly isn't literally necessary. They should try to release 1 a certain year, then the next the following year, or 2 years later, etc. The games don't have to be stupendous, they just have to be consistently good. Not every RockMan/MegaMan title was a smash, though they were all good, as well as playable. (I'm specifically referring to the Classic series.)
Also, Akira Kitamura, & Keiji Inafune are not the only ones who can do the ip justice, especially with the aforementioned design formula, that even to this day is largely unchanged for the Classic series.
I love the fact that we've somewhat come full circle, since the "Nintendo is popular" early days of the co. here in the America, and the greater west region. Just like the Mario toy-chests, the Milton Bradley Mario, & Zelda board games, Mario trashbins, giant stuffed Mario/Luigi dolls, Mario underwear, Nintendo has once again become comfortable with marketing their ip, and/or licensing other co.s to do so.
Hopefully, there will be a way to tone down the potentially seizure-inducing visuals. That's a little too much for me.
As for Capcom, this sounds similar to movie studios putting agendas in their films, prioritizing them over the rest of the film, and then blaming the public for being whatever, instead of accepting blame for making a terrible film, that very few paid tickets for. Hopefully, they'll make good on their statements. I have no doubts this will sell at least enough to justify a new entry.
For a moment, until I started reading the article, I was getting excited thinking it is a Kunio-Kun game. I love River City Random, and RC Girls. Usually, one-offs with no continuity are not my thing.
It would probably be different, though anything is possible. That's my choice of answer above. Switch came to the market being the only one of its kind n the mainstream. After it's success was cemented, other co.s tried the idea with a more powerful build of hardware.
Realistically, as the article mentions, it doesn't need to surpass other consoles, or handhelds. It just needs to be financially successful enough for Nintendo. They claim they are not in competition, anyway, so enough profits to justify whatever (efforts, and capital) are put into the next machine goes along with that mindset.
A Switch that is only more powerful, will inevitably be compared to Steam Deck, and other similar products. We can definitely expect comparisons for the next machine, if that is the case.
Something I'd like to see, is the next hardware adopt features that were fun, and/or popular during the DS/Wii/3DS/WiiU years; Miis, the social "channels" (Everybody Votes, Check Mii Out, etc.), themes, quick-access folders, variety of hardware colors, patterns, and ips. Other things I'd like to see are having a significantly greater internal memory, and stuff like an NSO GameCube library is an easier project to do.
I see most of what the successor can improve on to basically be very possible, as a lot of it is on the software side of things.
Edit 01 - Hopefully, there will be backward compatibility, and Amiibo support.
$50 for an entire year on the service is fine by me. I don't have enough physical room for multiple consoles, and I also am not going to pay ridiculous prices for every console, and game I used to own. I don't mind owning a few of my favorite retro consoles, and having them plugged-in, Ret-2-Go. I also don't mind having a majority of my retro library be digital in one place. Of course, I'm aware I don't actually own anything, except a temporary right to access those games. It's a nice setup, as far as I'm concerned.
MZM is my second favorite Metroid title after Super. Yeah, for some games, just unlocking content is sufficient, whereas other titles need to have the transfer feature actually emulated, like Mario Golf/Tennis for N64, & GBC.
@GamingFan4Lyf That was part of a feature on a website called TheMushroomKingdom, which last I checked, is still running. It's a fan site that has been around since the late 90s.
@EveryOneElse I would absolutely love it if Nintendo put this on NSO, and properly added full Super GameBoy emulation. The SGB was capable of dynamic color palette switching, dynamic borders, you could draw on the borders, on the game screen itself, create custom color palettes in passwords to use later, borders that would animate if the game was untouched for some time, change the controller style, use the SNES Mouse, switch a GameBoy game to 16-bit graphics (Space Invaders), actual sound samples through the SNES, and some beefed up music through the SNES. I would love to see full SGB emulation. DK94 is my favorite GameBoy game.
I'll have to look into this sale a little deeper. I assume these sales are essentially what used to be the "E3" sales. Either way, this is the time to purchase some stuff you might want.
I love amiibo. I don't have to own them all, especially since I don't have the space. I still enjoy the ones I already have, and there are a few I would like to eventually get.
I'm not sure if Nintendo will continue amiibo in the Switch successor. Miis are currently being closeted, though still available on Nintendo's current hardware, and a feature from the Wii. Amiibos are from the Wii U, and it's debatable if Nintendo will proactively support them going forward, or treat them like Miis, where they are there, just sidelined.
There is obviously criteria Nintendo uses to classify prices, since there is some uniformity. Price is only $40/50/60. Eventually, fans might figure out the pricing criteria.
Edit: The reason some of the paints are unrealistically already the textures is to coyly elaborate you can paint, and make textures, without listing it as a bullet point on the front of the box. Also, some of the features of the game are meant to be secrets, naturally discovered by the players. I would love the multiple versions of this released to NSO, along with the complete suite of Mario Artist.
@WePlayCatandMouse I still enjoy Star Wars, even though it's not like it used to be. Just separate the actor from the work, and it's all good. I can appreciate Hamill's work, while not at all caring about, or agreeing with his opinions, or political beliefs.
I enjoyed Sticker Star. The only thing I didn't like was the implementation of a very specific sticker being the only way to counter many bosses, and/or attack them, in a way that actually made it possible to win the battle. There are better ways to implement what I think they were going for.
Besides, I'm sure she has that copy of PM:SS kept in good condition, just for the sake of using it as a prop for videos like this, and to later sell. To a lot of people, it has value, just for being her property.
@OwenGamer22 Happy birthday, God bless, enjoy your special day, and have many more!
@EveryoneElse:
Super Mario Bros. Wonder - Completing the levels I missed, or didn't unlock yet.
MegaMan, X, and Zero/ZX Legacy Collections - Right now, going through Zero 2, and another playthrough of ZX.
Star Wars: KOTOR - Going through another playthrough. Played this a whole lot. Too bad the Switch version appears to also have the glitch that locks out party members' advancing dialogue trees, and quests if you completed a certain party member side quest early. This is why you continually save often, and selectively keep certain save files. Unfortunately, I don't have a prior save. I'm continuing to experiment with the Cheatbot, since it allows accessing segments that later become inaccessible under normal gameplay. I'm going to continue experimenting with time travel.

Re: Round Up: Celebrate Star Wars Day 2024 On The Nintendo Switch
@WePlayCatandMouse I still enjoy Star Wars, even though it's not like it used to be. Just separate the actor from the work, and it's all good. I can appreciate Hamill's work, while not at all caring about, or agreeing with his opinions, or political beliefs.
Re: Star Wars Day Switch eShop Sale, Up To 75% Off Multiple Games
Very Cool! I do wish some company would port the Super Star Wars trilogy.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (27th April)
Super Mario Maker 2
NSO - Pilotwings 64, Wrecking Crew 98, Mario Party, 2, & 3.
MegaMan, X, Zero/ZX Legacy Collections - Replaying through the X series, and with the exception of MegaMan Zero, a first-time playthrough of the Zero.
Tetris Effect: Connected - "Weekend Ritual"
Lego Star Wars The Complete Saga - Messing around in my favorite levels.
God bless, happy weekend, and happy gaming, everyone!
Re: Random: Kit And Krysta Show Off Their Immense DS And 3DS Collection
I enjoyed Sticker Star. The only thing I didn't like was the implementation of a very specific sticker being the only way to counter many bosses, and/or attack them, in a way that actually made it possible to win the battle. There are better ways to implement what I think they were going for.
Besides, I'm sure she has that copy of PM:SS kept in good condition, just for the sake of using it as a prop for videos like this, and to later sell. To a lot of people, it has value, just for being her property.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (20th April)
Super Mario Bros. Wonder - I'm impressed that I still haven't found all the secret courses.
MegaMan, X, Zero/ZX Legacy Collections - Almost done Zero 2.
Tetris Effect: Connected - Weekend "Ritual", I believe this weekend is "Adventurous".
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, &
Mario Kart 8 Dx.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (13th April)
@OwenGamer22 Happy birthday, God bless, enjoy your special day, and have many more!
@EveryoneElse:
Shantae series
Happy gaming, and God bless, everyone!
