I wish Sega would spend more time making little things like this. This could be a free to play game and people would be buying rare Chao and clothes and talents, etc. They could also be making things like a new Sega Swirl or Chu Chu Rocket, none of that stuff should cost a fortune to develop.
Only if it has motion controls and online random matchmaking. I like Looney Tunes alright but if it's not as good as Switch Sports, I'd rather just keep playing Switch Sports if I want to play sports games. After getting used to that it seems kind of silly playing sports games with a controller; and offline. Offline games are fine for lots of genres, but I don't think competitive sports is one of them.
Wow, an action adventure game scores good on Nintendo Life. I'm so shocked. Good thing they didn't add motion controls like Wario Land Shake It or Nintendo Life would have docked it some points.
@Tayrailbridge Because of articles like this one. They space the games out so that people keep talking about them so the hype never dies down, similar to how they revealed characters in Smash Bros. If they had released all the games when the service began, this would all be old news.
@-wc- @-wc- SNES, N64, and Gamecube were all discounted after release and were not selling better than their next gen competition. If a N64 were the same price as a Gamecube at the same time, that's going to confuse people. If Switch is still selling like gangbusters there's little reason to lower the price, but seeing them both be for sale at the same price is going to confuse some people.
If it's only as much as a Switch the consumer is going to think it's can't be much better or Nintendo is ripping people off selling a Switch for the same price; and Switch already has all those games, so grandma will buy the grandkid a Switch considering they're both the same price and one has fewer games and one has more. The perception of paying $100 more makes people think they're buying something next gen and new, and it gives Nintendo room to make price cuts as needed later. You could get a $300 Switch 2, but it would be on sale and you'd feel special for getting it at such a great deal.
I can picture $500, but $400 seems more like it. All I know is it sure won't be $300 as Switch never got or needed a price drop, and you can't sell them both for the same price or people will think it's no better than a Switch.
I don't know who thought this was easy. I'm pretty sure I've only won one online match, and it was so long ago I don't even remember how it happened. And that's over the course of two consoles.
@cyrus_zuo It would be great if they had someone on the team who actually enjoyed playing motion control/party games. Seems like if it's a certain genre, it gets points docked for that, no matter how good it is.
Pretty bad for Sony when the only game making the top 10 is for the last gen console. Especially since it's been almost 4 years since the PS5 came out.
The indie scene was really small back then, we were desperate for a 2d platformer. I'm not opposed to buying games a few times for different platforms, I'm always looking for another platform to beat Enter the Gungeon on for instance, but I played Braid years ago after all the praise it got and felt it was really overrated. I got stuck in the first hour of playing, got frustrated and quit. I'm not going to buy a game like that again just because they re-release it and call it an anniversary edition.
And the game came out a long time ago, the dev was an idiot not putting the game out on the Switch's release, rather than 7 years later. Back then the store had fewer games and over time they would have made some money. Kind of too late now.
I was hoping for the premise of dating household objects but it looks like a regular human dating simulator. I can only speak for myself as a non-fan of the genre, but if the objects were just objects, or maybe cartoony with googly eyes and specifically not humans portraying objects I'd be more likely to give the genre a chance. I just feel like portraying realistic humans in video games is far too cliche, especially the dating genre.
I'll definitely get it eventually but my backlog is ridiculous, plus I have very little money, and very little free time. I have so many games already, and probably a thousand I'd like to get on Switch. But I also have a great PC and no need for portability, so just offering AAA games in better graphics doesn't do it for me.
I know a lot of people complained about graphics but I've never really had any problem with nintendo 1st party games, which is why I buy Nintendo consoles. I think for me the problem with getting excited for a new system is I've been playing Super Mario Maker 2, Switch Sports, and Clubhouse Games nearly every day and it doesn't give me much time to grind away at the backlog or even keep up with recent releases.
I hate it, it's ugly and they all look the same. I realize I'm not the target demographic, can't stand the whole vlogger begging culture, but yikes. If people are afraid to show themselves on camera, a voice over would be a lot better in my opinion. If someone is going to be talking on screen, I want to see their facial expressions when they say it. I see enough video game characters as it is, this is a huge downgrade from the real human experience.
It should have been released years ago, but now is good too. They'll be selling Switches for a very long time. The thing is selling great at the moment and they haven't even had a price cut. They'll probably release another Switch model (a mini) too to get rid of spare parts. Just because the new system is around the corner doesn't mean people won't also buy Switches or Switch games.
Under filters, they do already have price range listed as an option to choose between free/paid under Search, Other Search Filters. You can also search by publisher as well, you just have to type the name of the game and then click on publisher and it will show all the games by that publisher.
Also there is a already a demo section, it's the top option, search, "Games with Demos", and there are 861. Seems odd that there's an article about the eshop without mentioning any of this.
@GameOtaku The dripfeed is the smartest thing they could have done. I remember people said they should all put them all at once from the beginning, but if it weren't the dripfeed we wouldn't be talking about this now, game blogs wouldn't have articles every so often, the hype would have died down a week after it launched.
People weren't going to go out and buy Mach Rider, Urban Champion or DK Jr. Math, but those games get a lot more exposure when they're already a part of the service you pay for for other reasons. Those old systems are full of games that nobody wants to pay for, it's a gamble as a lot of them are quite bad by todays standards. All a store would do is keep those games from being played, while the popular titles would continue to sell like always, not because they're good, but because they're well known.
@Li_Bae Why? Roguelites and roguelikes are awesome, one of the best new genres to come out in a long time. But I can see being sad about not having the time to play them all, they're usually quite long. Otherwise, the Switch isn't lacking for games. Nobody was out there making Enter the Gungeon, Dead Cells, Dicey Dungeons, Hades, Vampire Survivors, Darkest Dungeon II, etc. and turning that into a regular game had the term not existed. Those games just wouldn't exist, and they absolutely should, as they have loads of fans.
I've got too much to play at the moment and don't need any new games, but I rated it a 10 because I expected very little with a Switch 2 coming up supposedly soon. And 2d Zelda is my favorite Zelda and you finally get to play as Zelda herself, and Mario & Luigi is my favorite Mario rpg. Also got a new Metroid Prime, new New Denpa Men, and Mario Party is always fun. The quality of these games shown, you wouldn't guess that the Switch is winding down. With this many good games coming, seems like a good sign that the new system is backwards compatible.
@SillyG It's an online focused sports game, if you're that bothered about downloading an update for it, this probably isn't the game for you. I spent hundreds of hours playing it so far but if I wasn't going to go online with the console, (something you need to do to update the game anyway) I'd probably be better off playing something else.
Otherwise seems like a silly reason not to buy a game you want to play. It may not be perfect, but life is finite, you should play games you're interested in. Plus they sold over 13 million copies, so now's the time to play if you want good competition; there's no shortage of players.
Plus it's way better online with rollback netcode and better physics than Sports Club, which was much better than the non existent online for the Wii games. And there's really nothing like it on the market so might as well get it if you want it. I think it's easily one of the best games on the system.
I don't really like needing to have the option, but since game companies are going to ignore fps otherwise, I like having the choice. Graphics are cool and all, but I just want a steady 60fps.
For me personally, it should be a lot cheaper but I don't think I'm the target demographic here. I have zero interest in remakes unless they really add a lot, because I've already played these old games because I'm an old Nintendo fan.
But I guess if you hadn't played them before, $60 is reasonable. They're still just as good games as they always were so it doesn't seem like there's any reason to lower the price. Also I'd consider Advance Wars 1 & 2, Pikmin 1 & 2, and Another Code: Recollection to be bargains as you're paying a lot less than when they were new, and they generally look a lot better on Switch.
I love it! As long as it's not Super Switch or Switch 2 I'm happy. Any name like that just sounds like a new version of something we already have. Like an SNES 2 sounds old compared to a N64, N64 2 doesn't sound as modern as a Gamecube, pretty sure Wii sold better than if it were named Gamecube 2, etc. The exceptions you have, Super NES, 3DS, and Wii U all sold worse than the systems they were named after.
Or it could have been Super N64, Super Gamecube, etc. and I think you still have the same problem. It just doesn't sound next-gen enough.
Now that they mention it I suppose the announcement will be pretty close to release. I'm guessing maybe 2 months before it comes out.
And I wonder if they'll release a Switch Mini or a Switch that's a home console only, just to try to get rid of some of the old stock of parts. And they can't sell a Switch 2 for $300 if a Switch is already $300 to $350, people will think it's not as good if they sold it for the same price or cheaper. So I'd expect some big price cuts soon. And they could sell the Switch 2 for $400 or more but since Nintendo knows it target audience is a lot of kids they won't want to price it too high or parents won't want to upgrade.
Same thing I play every day, Switch Sports Soccer (leg strap mode ftw). Been playing it nearly every day since it came out. They took something I always loved, Wii Sports, and made it infinitely replayable with online opponents and pro rankings and I'm hooked. Those 4 v 4 matches are the best, it's just great to score a winning goal when you have 3 other people counting on you. Same with blocking all the shots as a goalie. And I love kicking the ball with my leg and running in place, I swear if other soccer games played like this I'd buy them all.
Doesn't look like they should release a new console at all. 9 out of 10 games is a Switch game and they sold 71,213 to Sony's 20,941, that's over 3 times as many. If shoppers thought it was so outdated, they wouldn't be selling like this. The system hasn't even had a price drop since it launched. Sure, game nerds want to play more advanced games, but I just don't see what incentive there is for Nintendo if they're already dominating the competition like this.
If they are going to make 2 different versions, unless it's VR capable, I'd prefer to pay for a screenless, speakerless version with a dock built in. I only play on the TV so having that screen there has been a big waste, at least for me.
These games couldn't be more different, Tunnel Battle is a battle royale, and no I don't consider Pacman 99 to be a battle royale, it's just one of Nintendo's weird 99 titles. It was basically a 1 player game not much different than the arcade version. This has 63 other players on the same mazes (there are many mazes going off to the sides to make up the overworld), and you can eat each other, bump someone into a ghost, etc. I played it on Stadia and it was great.
The only games I can see being worth that price are all 2d. Enter the Gungeon, Super Mario Maker, Hades, Dead Cells it's just endless entertainment. They didn't cost $70 but for the value you get it would have been well worth it.
I'd rather have another New Super Mario game personally. Wii U Deluxe was awesome especially with the luigi levels and brief timer, and it felt like there was more to do in each level, like the levels were bigger. I also preferred the multiplayer, though it would have been better if it were online. They also had minigames and Miiverse integration. Wonder is fine and all, but I miss traditional Mario levels with a timer and a score. I think the regular New games and SMB. games have enough unique gimmicks in each level as to where the Wonder Flower didn't add as much as it seems. Also, and I haven't finished it yet, but Wonder seems a little easy.
@the_beaver I had a great time with Yoshi's Crafted World, it felt just like you'd want a Yoshi's Island game to feel and the hand made levels were adorable, I just wanted to make them all. The game was as challenging as any Mario game, and similarly trying to 100% the game is the goal and it's not easy at all, there are some very difficult challenges.
I got the credits but you unlock more levels after that and I got stuck and couldn't pass one (let alone get everything), so claims that it's too easy are bogus.
Also I think the aiming in 3d aspect of it in a 2d game and playing the game from the other side were fine additions and made the game a little more interesting. And changing your view to the other side was great here because the hand crafted levels are gorgeous, and I loved how there were labels and such only visible from behind. It's nice to have an excuse to replay the levels like that.
@Anti-Matter @Anti-Matter Yeah it was sarcasm for all the people saying there are only (name a percentage) of good games, as if they've played them all.
Can confirm that Dicey Dungeons and Hand of Fate 2 are awesome. And Clubhouse Games is really one of the best games on the platform (especially for Sevens and President).
Switch Sports (285 hours played) always has me wanting just one more match. Especially Soccer. Either I'm on a winning streak, or I blame my teammates for messing up, and I want to play again with a different group. But Tennis and Volleyball are also totally addicting when you're winning. And playing in Pro mode, since you see the bar rising each time you win, and gaining ranks is a great motivator to keep playing.
Clubhouse Games has so much content there and online it's easy to spend a lot of time there as well.
Dicey Dungeons is great, and the way the gameplay changes so much based on character or chapter always makes it feel fresh.
Enter the Gungeon (470 hours played) is just amazing, so many guns and passive and active items, and ammo types, and synergies, every run is completely different and there's so much to unlock, and the Smash TV like gameplay with the dodgeroll is just tops.
Neon Abyss is a great rogue-like, every run you lose and you just want to play again unlocking cool new stuff each time. Funny thing about this one is, at least for my pc (which is a beast), it runs better on the Switch than it does on Steam.
And Blazing Beaks is really good too, and Space Dave you always want to play again after you lose. Same with Heavy Burger, and Super Crate Box.

Geki Yaba Runner is pretty fun too
Re: Pac-Man's New Battle Royale Game Chomps Its Way To Switch Next Month
These games couldn't be more different, Tunnel Battle is a battle royale, and no I don't consider Pacman 99 to be a battle royale, it's just one of Nintendo's weird 99 titles. It was basically a 1 player game not much different than the arcade version. This has 63 other players on the same mazes (there are many mazes going off to the sides to make up the overworld), and you can eat each other, bump someone into a ghost, etc. I played it on Stadia and it was great.
Re: Saber Interactive CEO Doesn't Think $70 Video Games Are Sustainable
The only games I can see being worth that price are all 2d. Enter the Gungeon, Super Mario Maker, Hades, Dead Cells it's just endless entertainment. They didn't cost $70 but for the value you get it would have been well worth it.

Re: Poll: Do You Want To See 'Super Mario Bros. Wonder 2'?
Re: Princess Peach: Showtime! Developer Seemingly Revealed In Demo's Code

Re: Anniversary: Switch Turns Seven Today, With Over 11,000 Games On The eShop
@Anti-Matter @Anti-Matter Yeah it was sarcasm for all the people saying there are only (name a percentage) of good games, as if they've played them all.
Re: Anniversary: Switch Turns Seven Today, With Over 11,000 Games On The eShop
11,000 games and only 2 good ones
Re: Best Nintendo Switch Card Games, Board Games, And Deckbuilders
Can confirm that Dicey Dungeons and Hand of Fate 2 are awesome. And Clubhouse Games is really one of the best games on the platform (especially for Sevens and President).
Re: Most Addictive Nintendo Switch Games
