Re: Opinion: Steam Deck Fans Are Seriously Underestimating The Switch 2

Nintendo_Thumb

I love my PC games, but I don't see what the Steam Deck is for. As a PC fan, I've already got a really nice desktop pc, super ultrawide monitor, kana keyboard, mouse, gamepad not attached to a screen, and comfy computer chair. The Steam Deck would be a huge downgrade for me.

I mostly just play at home. But I got a Meta Quest 3s if I really want to play somewhere else. I can even use the remote desktop, Steam Link or Xbox Live if I felt the need to play non-VR games in it, but that would be pretty unusual since VR is amazing.

Re: Community: The Results Are In - These Are Your Most (And Least) Wanted Switch 2 Games

Nintendo_Thumb

@Dev-N I buy games I'm interested in. Must suck to want a game but not buy it because it's costs money. I'm really curious if they put all of Super Mario Bros. 4K in there, because as a huge Mario fan that alone would make it worth it to me. But I like random Nintendo minigames, they're very good at making those, so I'm really looking forward to checking it out either way.

Re: The Switch 2 Won't Have Achievements Or eShop Music

Nintendo_Thumb

Good. I'd prefer not to have achievements forced on all the games, and eshop music isn't necessary at all. The only thing I would like to see is a zoom out of our games on the main menu. I have tons and tons of Switch games but they only show like 4 games on the screen at once so I forget what I've got. It makes me hesitant to buy anything new.

Re: Community: Which Switch 2 Games Are You Wishlisting?

Nintendo_Thumb

Mario Kart bundle and Welcome Tour, then I'll get Fast Fusion and Cyberpunk if I can afford it or if there's a sale.

Then Donkey Kong for sure, Drag & Drive, and probably Mario Party & Pokemon. And I'd like to play Metroid, and Elden Ring when that comes out. And Enter the Gungeon 2 of course.

Re: Nintendo Switch 2 Doesn't Need To Worry About Steam Deck Sales

Nintendo_Thumb

Hades 2 is on PC as well, you don't need an underpowered portable to play that. And I think you described the issue. You need a Steam account to get one, and if you have a Steam account with games already you probably have a PC that can play these games just as good if not better. And Steamdeck has no exclusives. It's a offshoot of a PC that plays the same games, like a Switch Lite. Comparing the two seems silly. A better comparison would be PC players vs Nintendo players but that's probably a lot harder to get details on that while excluding PCs bought just for business.

Re: Japanese Charts: Mario Party Jamboree Ends Dragon Quest III's Reign

Nintendo_Thumb

@BANJO Yeah I'm a massive fan. The game shows up on these top 10 charts every week because it's a great game. The best thing ever is 4v4 online soccer with the leg strap, but otherwise the bowling is great and it's all simultaneous so there's less waiting than ever.

Tennis is great fun, much improved over the 1 to 1 rackets that were constantly needing to be recentered by pushing down on the dpad on Wii Sports Club, and the online is a million times better. Sports Club was so slow, really laggy games every time if you could even find a match. Here they sold many millions of copies so there's always opponents of every skill level (which is great for playing in Pro League mode) and the game has rollback netcode so no more game freezes or stuttering. You need online to play, but it's pretty cheap.

Re: Ex-PlayStation Boss Questions Future Of Consoles, But Not Nintendo Hardware

Nintendo_Thumb

I had a PS4 Pro but didn't really use it much, and now most of the games are on PC. I can't picture myself ever buying another Playstation or Xbox, but there's no void here. I get all those cool high end graphics games if I want on my PC, Nintendo consoles because 1st party and interesting hardware gimmicks, and Meta Quest VR because it's awesome. Those 3 things are quite different, I don't need another box that plays similar games to what I can already get.

Re: Firaxis "Hadn't Expected" Civilization VI's Success On Switch

Nintendo_Thumb

Some of these companies are so stupid. Like Blizzard, they would have made a fortune on Hearthstone Switch but for some reason, decided it wasn't worth it. I'm no marketing guru but I can say with certainty that it would have paid off big time. Aside from being practically made for a portable with it's wait and strategize approach and no high end graphics needed, it would have been an easy win, with barely any competition in the AAA competitive collectible card genre (at least at the time). Who knows how many millions they lost on not porting that from the beginning.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (30th November)

Nintendo_Thumb

Mario Maker 2, and some Metroid Dread on Switch, maybe try some Donkey Kong GB. And a lot of Quest 2 games like In Death: Unchained, Punch Fit MR, Crazy Kung Fu, just got Arcade Paradise and Trivia Crack World, Moss, and I Expect You To Die 2, and been playing weird smaller free stuff like CPR training or learning to dance in the Salsa demo.

Then on PC I've been playing Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor, and just picked up 10,000,000 & You Must Build A Boat for $2. Got a pretty good deal on a Quest 3s also and looking forward to trying Batman and all the cool mixed reality stuff. And picked up Tears of the Kingdom & Pikmin 4 on sale, so got quite a lot on my plate at the moment.

Re: 'Nintendo Music' Adds Another DS Soundtrack, Here's Every Song Included

Nintendo_Thumb

@BigNate It has nothing to do with capability, they have the money, they could hire more people and put the whole catalog out tomorrow. They choose to release things spaced out on a calendar to keep people talking.

It's the same with the regular full priced games. They're not finishing just before release, games sit there done for years waiting for the best time to make the most sales, while not hindering the sales of other first party games releasing around the same time (like putting out a new 2d Mario the same week as a new 2d Donkey Kong).

Re: Nintendo Expands Switch Online's Game Boy Library With Another Classic

Nintendo_Thumb

@Not_Soos I don't think that's a good idea at all. People aren't really going to finish all those games before the new release. And putting out a remake for full price when all the other old games are part of the service won't sit well with people; "the other games are on Switch Online why isn't DK Country Returns!? I'll just play the "free" ones that come with my Switch Online account".

And a lot of people would just say, "we have 4 more sequels I still haven't played that I'm technically paying for already. I'll hold off on buying the remake until then."

You want to drip feed that so people are thirsty for more, had time to digest what's there; not full before something new shows up.

Re: The Game Awards 2024: Date, Time - How And When To Watch

Nintendo_Thumb

I've seen it enough to know that they won't talk about my favorite games, and instead focus on cinematic trailers with no gameplay shown, lots of gritty realistic environments, voice acting, pores, sweat, dramatic yelling, guns, etc. I'd watch if they gave the same amount of screen time to indies, but they won't because it's more about getting ad revenue from game companies than it is showing what's good, and indies can't afford to advertise on the show like the big AAAs can.

Re: Nintendo Is Reportedly Targeting AI-Generated Mario Pictures

Nintendo_Thumb

@VoidofLight I don't think you're willing to change your mind so won't look at evidence that proves it's art. You couldn't have watched those and say they're not art, I mean you can, but I don't believe you. People acting like you push the ai art button and it just makes a thing, but it doesn't work like that. It's a tool, and in the right hands it can be amazing, you just need a human with vision and effort.

Good story tellers are nothing new, but until now they had no outlet aside from writing. Here even someone with practically no budget can see their visions come to life. It can be bad if it's replacing human artists, but there are some things that would never exist because not everyone can afford a hollywood budget and those stories would just go untold.

It's not all black and white. If people didn't find it useful it never would taken off like it has.

Re: Looney Tunes: Wacky World Of Sports Launches On Switch This Month

Nintendo_Thumb

Only if it has motion controls and online random matchmaking. I like Looney Tunes alright but if it's not as good as Switch Sports, I'd rather just keep playing Switch Sports if I want to play sports games. After getting used to that it seems kind of silly playing sports games with a controller; and offline. Offline games are fine for lots of genres, but I don't think competitive sports is one of them.

Re: Talking Point: Would $499 Be Too Much For 'Switch 2'?

Nintendo_Thumb

@-wc- @-wc- SNES, N64, and Gamecube were all discounted after release and were not selling better than their next gen competition. If a N64 were the same price as a Gamecube at the same time, that's going to confuse people. If Switch is still selling like gangbusters there's little reason to lower the price, but seeing them both be for sale at the same price is going to confuse some people.

If it's only as much as a Switch the consumer is going to think it's can't be much better or Nintendo is ripping people off selling a Switch for the same price; and Switch already has all those games, so grandma will buy the grandkid a Switch considering they're both the same price and one has fewer games and one has more. The perception of paying $100 more makes people think they're buying something next gen and new, and it gives Nintendo room to make price cuts as needed later. You could get a $300 Switch 2, but it would be on sale and you'd feel special for getting it at such a great deal.
