Re: Review: Pokémon Legends: Z-A - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition - Stellar Battles, But A Step Down From Arceus

Mz3player

@FrenchVaniIIuxe Arceus is a home console game with next to no multiplayer functionality on a system that allows for multiple profiles. A household could feasibly buy only one copy and get the full value out of it. Previous mainline releases get more sales (at least partly) because you had to have multiple carts for multiplayer, or there were trade exclusives, or both - and that factors into purchasing for both adult individuals and families.

If Arceus had failed in TPCi's eyes, we wouldn't be getting a follow-up.

Re: Talking Point: Is Hollow Knight: Silksong Too Difficult?

Mz3player

I'm loving the game so far, it's a 10/10, but I'm so glad they're lowering the cost of benches. I didn't get the Magnetite Brooch yet and I'm constantly short on cash - enemies that don't drop money makes sense for the lore but is annoying in practice.
If someone complained about HK's difficulty, I'd tell them that as a Metroidvania they should try digging further into areas they've already unlocked to find better powerups and health and nail upgrades. In my current Silksong experience, I'm nearly done with Act 1, have only found 3 mask shards (one was the one you buy in town - also found one other thing related to health), and haven't discovered a needle upgrade or even a reliable way to recharge silk faster. Maybe it's just because I've been focused on running around the whole map, but what I have found is new combat options, which have somewhat eased the difficulty. But new combat options aren't hard "This fight will be easier regardless of your skill level" buffs like a health or weapon upgrade would be - they're still skill checks. So the idea of wanting lower difficulty settings is understandable to me, even though I'd never use them.

Re: Yooka-Replaylee Is Now "Content Complete"

I know it's only been eight years since the original, and that is really quick, but just remember it was only six years between the original Resident Evil and its remake, and most agree that turned out well. It's different because Capcom was still putting out a lot during that time, they've got a disadvantage being an indie studio

Re: Pac-Man World 2 Is Getting The Re-Pac Treatment

Mz3player

Currently replaying this, the vibes are immaculate. Hoping the remake doesn't change them too much, since I felt like the first game's remake took some of its edge away.
Edit: It's rated E10+ for Fantasy Violence and "Mild Language." IS PAC-MAN FINALLY GONNA SWEAR??

Re: Of Course Mario Kart World Is Being Review Bombed

Mz3player

I could see this being an issue if this were some indie game. I could see it being problematic if the complaint was rather trivial

But this is complaining about a meaningful (to some) update to an entry in one of the most successful game series of all time that hundreds of thousands have already bought. This is probably not complaining about a game you haven't bought, in most cases. This is a fine method of making your voice heard that sends a message while hurting basically no one.

I don't think people should be upset about this.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (24th May)

Staying with my brother's family this weekend, so the most fun game will be anything I do with my baby nephew! But other than that, it's Pac-Man Vs. or Sonic Adventure DX with the family, Brothership when I have down time (just beat the fourth sea and the boss that comes right after).

Re: Talking Point: With Prices Rising, Are Your Gaming Habits Changing?

Mz3player

I don't have a great deal of extra money to spend anyway, so the price hikes don't really influence my purchasing decisions at the moment. Besides, I've already got Deltarune, Metroid Prime 4, Shadow Labyrinth, and Silksong that I can pick up on Switch (or PC for most of those), so my gaming year will be packed even without Switch 2.

Re: Poll: So, How Would You Rate The Nintendo Switch 2 Direct?

Mz3player

4/10. Some of the announcements got me really excited, actually - Mario Kart and Donkey Kong look great, the launch lineup looks packed, Silksong is confirmed for this year! GameCube is cool too, glad to see Colosseum and XD getting some love. And the specs seem pretty neat too. Honestly, I might get the console pretty early.

But it's impossible to ignore how staggering it is that some games will cost $80 on this thing. I get inflation and all that, but I hate the idea that pricing us out of physical is their way to incentivize digital. It's like the carrot of Gold Points wasn't working, so now they need the stick of a 33% price hike to get us to give them our money directly. And charging for select performance enhancements feels dirty too. I'm glad some will be free (Shadow Labyrinth is confirmed for that too, by the way), but I feel they should all be. And having to get a better microSD card is kinda lame too, even with more onboard storage. And while lots of the chat features seem neat, at the end of the day I'll probably mostly use voice chat, which was included on the DS!

Mixed feelings overall. Kinda hoping the thing flops a bit to put them in their place. I'll be playing ZA and Metroid Prime 4 on my Switch first, I think.

Me and my brothers are going to jump on Discord and play through Sonic Adventure DX on Steam for a bit - we all live different places, so it'll be nice to just spend time together. Might break out SongPop for a game night with my girlfriend and her roommates. Other than that, just got Battle Plugs in Brothership, so I'll be taking those for a spin and maybe trying Sutte Hakkun.
