@kantaroo Actually, ACGL was always their official company name. Ultimate PlayThe Game was "merely" a label / publisher for their Spectrum releases. Hence the ACG key in Atic Atac!
BTW: in my little world, coder brother Chris Stamper is a demi-god. His work in the 8 bit home computer era cannot be overestimated. This award is long overdue.
True. The current crop of VR tech just isn't viable as a mass-market medium. The hype is generated by companies looking for investors / cash to burn but it won't catch on..
Oh please... i'm starting to feel embarassed by all the negative butthurt spread by my fellow "fanboys". E3 was just fine with plenty of surprises and some interesting news. People should just stop acting like Nintendo owes them anything.
Some highlights from my list:
Mario Wheelchair Basketball 3
New Mario Bros. (Working Title)
The Legend of Zelda: The Naughty Bathtub
Wii Feeling U
Metroid: Brother-in-law Online
It's indeed extremely annoying but also makes them look very silly. And it's not even a very effective defense because once you've sussed them out, they are easy targets.
AC:NL is a huge hit in Japan and to create a "collect-a-thon" spin-off coupled with collectable cards is a pretty savvy marketing move. Minimal outlay, maximal profit.
Translation: we thought we could build a Wii U version using the same codebase but we have discovered it would never perform decently unless we rewrite large parts of it to better suit the hardware. Given the economics of such an effort I'd say this will never happen.
All the more reson for Nintendo to give us a new F-Zero !
The extended period did NOT go more smoothly. I finally managed to get in a battle but got kicked out after about a minute. This also screwed up my connection and i had to reset my router. Then i couldn't get back in.
Finally got in a match after an hour of frustration but after 1 minute the connection was lost and the game stopped. i had to reset my router after that. Get your act together Nintendo or I'm not buying this!
Mario Maker is shaping up to be a much bigger "thing" than i expected. Not a release schedule filler at all. In fact, i think it could be the killer app the Wii U so badly needs.
Mario Maker is already a solid must-have for me and Yoshi is like the cherry on top. Anything is better with Yoshi.
Are they going to give all the different graphic styles a single, unified physics engine?
The actual engine would be the same but it will implement different a physics & action model for each style / era. So Mario's jump will differ from level to level.
@allav866 Actually, DK64 does not really use the Expansion Pack. The game has a programming error that only occurs when there is no Expansion Pack installed.
@Kirk releasing anything nowadays requires certification in most countries. Here in Europe Nintendo has to get age certificates from four or five different boards and the procedure and timeframes vary wildly between them. So it really is not that simple.
I never expected it to be released before 2016. A full-blown Zelda takes time and we should thank our lucky stars that at Nintendo the release schedule is not decided by the bean counters.
Too late? No worries, when the first Nintendo mobile games come on the market, they will obliterate all previous sales records. Then those birds will have something to be angry about

Re: Review: Japanese Rail Sim 3D Journey in Suburbs #1 (3DS eShop)
Train buffs will lap this up. Seriously, there are plenty of people who love to play games/sims like this.
Re: Rumour: Nintendo NX Won't Be As Powerful As PlayStation 4
Since we don't really know what the NX will be this dicussion seems rather premature and pointless

Re: Talking Point: Nintendo's Approach to Transforming Franchises Clashes With Fan Expectations
Problem is that if you ask consumers what they want, they tend to answer "more of the same but different"
Re: Splatoon Version 1.3.0 Update Due on 30th June, Gameplay Adjustments Detailed
Yes, i agree with those tweaks. All in the name of balance!
Re: The Current State Of Virtual Reality Just Isn't Fun, Says Nintendo's Reggie Fils-Aime

Re: First Impressions: Our Maiden Flight In Star Fox Zero Prompts Mixed Emotions
Don't worry about the graphics & textures. It is common practice to use old artwork and models as placeholders during game development.
Re: Nintendo Is Thinking About Making A Transformable Star Fox Arwing amiibo
As if Miyamoto personally oversees amiibo production & distribution. Wise up guys, he's busy with the next.big.thing - that's his job and his nature.
Re: The First Mother Game Is Finally Coming To The West As EarthBound Beginnings
Now who said Nintendo doesn't listen to its fans?
Re: Eager Splatoon Players Aim to Make Sense of the Inkling Language
The sheer amount of effort (ie. lots of money) needed to construct a consistent artificial language suggests that it is in fact gibberish.
Re: Rare Co-Founder Tim Stamper Is Tweeting Some Crazy Stuff About Project Dream On The SNES
Tim and in particular his brother Chris the coder are demi-gods to me, right up there with Miyamoto
Re: Disney Infinity Producer Brands amiibo Stock Shortages "Irresponsible And Rude"
Well if anyone knows how to milk their franchises, it's Disney. But sadly, their games are just a steaming pile of shiny poop. So Nintendo still wins

I would drop World of Warcraft and nominate Space Invaders instead. Otherwise it's a fine list

Re: Splatoon Producer Inks Out Reasons For Lack Of Voice Chat And Staggered Content Roll-Out
Methinks the game is hectic enough without voice chat. And indeed, with compact maps and short matches you don't really feel the need
Re: Splatoon Storms to Top Spot in Japanese Charts With Six Figure Sales
Splatoon is exactly the kind of game that you can use to convince your mates to invest in a Wii U. Show it, play it and they're hooked
Re: Gallery: Let's Take A Look At The Incoming Splatoon Maps And Weapons
@RupeeClock short answer: yes. IIRC, the US introduced legislation that forced toy gun manufacturers to use bright colours for their products.

Re: Cabbage Is The Dream Nintendo Game That Never Was
IMHO the cabbage name refers to the children's tale that new babies are born in a cabbage field. Much like those horrible Cabbage Patch Dolls.

Re: Reaction: The Splatoon Global Testfire Demo Is a Clever Nintendo Direct Highlight
Suggestion: drop the AM/PM nonsense and just use "military" notation when writing down times. Much clearer for an international audience
