Re: Nintendo Selects Range on 3DS Has a Handsome Price Point in Europe

Mk_II

Already have the games i want from this selection but that is a very sweet price point indeed. What's funny is that Starfox 3D was being sold for 10 or 15 euro some time ago because shops had a lot of unsold stock.

BTW did anyone notice that Nintendo of Europe has also priced down the recent Wii U titles like Splatoon and Woolly World? I think they're trying to drive home the selling point that Wii U is the most affordable home console

Re: Splatoon 'Octoling' Modder Could Cause Save Data Problems

@shani And indeed, it turns out you can! I hooked up an old USB harddrive, formatted it and copied my save data and game updates to the drive. BTW: the Nintendo site talks about "transfering" data, that's why i got confused as i don't want to use the USB drive on a permanent basis.

Re: Splatoon 'Octoling' Modder Could Cause Save Data Problems

Mk_II

@shani no, i did understand that part. But i don't have a USB drive hooked up now. So what i would like to do is use a USB drive to make a backup copy of my save data, remove the drive and play on. The Nintendo site seems to suggest that is not possible and that you can only transfer and not make backups.

"As for the console itself, I was tempted to call this the next Philips CDi..."
Touché! It has every chance to be just as succesful IMHO. On a technical level, a media player like this won't be able to compete with cutting-edge gaming consoles. But they're also quite expensive compared to other set-top / streaming products like Chromecast so I'm not so sure this will take off.

Re: Rumours and Speculation Stir Over Potential Involvement of Nintendo with Apple TV

@ manu0 : Nintendo is a creator of original content - a rare breed in today's marketplace! - and for various reasons, both technical and financial, their output is firmly tied to their own dedicated hardware. This also results in a relatively high margin on the games they sell. They have no interest in sharing that revenue stream with a third-party app store. Never mind the negative impact it would have on their hardware sales.

Apple just wants a finger in everyone's pie by delivering any content thru their devices. See iTunes - it makes millions selling music but it has never produced an album or launched an artist.

There is no contest really; this is the ultimate Mario platformer. Best looks, best soundtrack, precise controls and some very challenging level designs. I would happily trade all the others for this one game.

I'll be the heretic and admit i never really liked SMB2. My first encounter with these games was thru the All Stars compilation and I was unaware of the Doki Doki origin. But SMB2 just didn't feel (or look) "right" compared to the other Mario platformers. And seriously... do people actually like Birdo?
