Re: New Mario Kart 9 Teased For Switch 2

MasterGraveheart

Of course there's Mario Kart. It's like scampi at Bubba Gump's "Of course we have scampi." Of course we have Mario Kart!

Though, tbh, I'm still kinda hoping this ends up being something like "Smash Kart," and they start inviting more than just the Mario crew to play. I know they did that with 8, but, let's expand. Samus in a Gunship kart. Nell from Advance Wars in a tank. Pit in a chariot.

Heck, go third party while you're at it! Cloud on Fenrir. Tifa in the buggy. Travis Touchdown on his motorcycle. Dr. Eggman in the Egg Mobile. Have a blast with that kinda thing!

Re: Square Enix May Withhold Its Own Products If You Harrass Its Staff

MasterGraveheart

Why do I get the feeling this is largely due to a certain "love triangle" issue surrounding a certain upcoming third part of a certain trilogy?

Now, this could also, and more likely, just be a general thing that's going on, and that's wholly possible too, especially considering Square Enix's interest in dipping into A"I" and other morally questionable decisions, and while I wholly endorse taking the higher ups to task in a civil manner, to harass the lower staff is definitely not cool.

Re: Physical Game Sales Took A Nosedive In The UK Last Year

MasterGraveheart

I'm going to prefer physical media for a long time, largely because the contractual licensing and the tendencies for listings for digital to come and go at a moment's notice is extremely off-putting to me. I also don't particularly like to stream when I can own. I mean, I use streaming services, but I also own the movies I like most. Just recently got Godzilla Minus One for Christmas, as well as the Marvel vs. Capcom collection physical.

We'll be digital only one day, I'm sure. But when that day comes, it's my hope that the industry is in a healthier place with preservation, availability, and convenience.

Re: Nintendo's Punch-Out!! Series May Be Dead And Buried For Good

MasterGraveheart

"I got someone from, let's say a studio close to Punch-Out, drunk at a bar..."

Uhhhh... okay then! I still want an HD remake of the Wii version, though. I remember a video on YouTube by Gaijin Goombah, who talked about the positive characteristics of the Wii Punch-Out characters (except for Super Macho Man and Aran Ryan, who were total jerks), as well as the attention to detail in the languages they spoke.

So, if this is true, it makes me sad, because the Wii Punch-Out did so much right in trying to avoid negative stereotypes.

Re: Star Wars Actor Daisy Ridley Presents An Overview Of 'Monster Hunter'

MasterGraveheart

@Olliemar28 And there's nothing wrong with that. Heck, I've got a lot of port hopes! Point was, considering Capcom didn't port World to Switch and instead gave them their own similar title to work with instead, I'm kind of hesitant to be ready to pencil it in. Heck, a lot of slam dunk ports didn't make it over to Switch from Capcom's side specifically.

If it does, though? I'll certainly have a spot in my folio for it. Or, whatever I'll need to store my Switch successor games.

Apologies if it came across as hostile or anything like that.

Re: Star Wars Actor Daisy Ridley Presents An Overview Of 'Monster Hunter'

MasterGraveheart

I'm going to avoid commenting on the unhinged hate Daisy gets for no justified reason and say that it's really bold of Nintendo Life to presume Capcom'll /bother/ porting Wilds to the Switch Successor (I can't call it Switch 2 until I know for sure, sorry). Honestly, there's been a lot of slam dunk ports for Switch that never happened, so, I'm very... hesitant to get excited over speculation, know what I mean?

...Seriously, the actors paying for J.J. Abrams' sins... >.>'

Re: Talking Point: Is It Time For HD-2D To Take A Break?

MasterGraveheart

Respectfully, Alana? My answer is no.

Chrono Trigger, the Mana games, the Final Fantasy Tactics games, all would be ripe for 2D-HD remakes. They're gorgeous, and frankly? I don't care how many there've been. I want more because I wanna keep polishing greats like Chrono Trigger (can you tell I want an HD-2D remake of Chrono Trigger?).

Even better? NEW games that come from those franchises that use the HD-2D style! Octopath Traveler is great and deserves its notoriety. But that doesn't mean other franchises can't have fun with it. Can you imagine a true sequel to Chrono Trigger (there it is again) in the 2D-HD style? So we can get the awful taste of Chrono Cross out of our mouths?

Re: Reaction: The Game Awards Left Us With One Big Question: Will Any Of This Run On Switch 2?

MasterGraveheart

Honestly, as long as it can play the current-gen stuff without major compromise (i.e. Final Fantasy VII R-Trilogy, Elden Ring, etc.), I'm good. It doesn't need to be ready for PS6 or Xbox-Whatever stuff. We're Nintendo fans. We know it ain't gonna be cream of the crop graphics (though I maintain GameCube games looked WAY better than OG Xbox or PS2 games by and large). We just need it to run well and be fun.

Re: Poll: After Three Quiet Months, Will We Finally Get A Nintendo Direct In December?

MasterGraveheart

File me under "doubtful." January, after the holiday rush, is more likely, especially leading up to Donkey Kong Country Returns HD and a rundown of what's coming out for Switch leading up to the Switch Successor, which I'm trying to avoid calling Switch 2, just in case they wanna avoid the PlayStation thing of just going 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, etc., and seem like they're imitating. I've been calling it the Switch Neo, personally!

Re: Sony May Be Plotting A New PSP To Compete With Nintendo's 'Switch 2'

MasterGraveheart

I honestly wouldn't be surprised. Between Switch and Steam Deck, console power in a portable form is probably more of the long-term future and, as a Nintendo die-hard, I'm kinda proud that Nintendo really started that trend. I know, I see you PSP/PS Vita. You were great... but you were handhelds first and foremost. Switch, Steam Deck, that's console power and it's equivalent to consoles at the time. There's no question about that. I think Sony getting back into the portable game, and Microsoft doing something similar (Xbox Go, anyone?) is kinda inevitable at this point. Especially if the Switch successor does even half as good as the Switch classic.

Re: Dragon Quest's Creator Criticises 'Mistranslation' Of DQ3 Remake Costume Comments

MasterGraveheart

I’m bummed out about the alterations, but I freely admit that a part of it is due to wanting something more akin to the more revealing original. Sure, I do also believe in staying true to the original intended designs, and that the west, the US especially, is very prudish when it comes to sexuality, but I’m also not going to downplay that I do like the scantly-clad original. It doesn’t help that the shirt and pants they added are basically flesh-toned. If they needed to add, maybe they shoulda used chainmail and not just pretend with the flesh-colored shirt?

It would be nice if things in games like this changed depending on the player’s age, but that might be more trouble than it’s worth for a bit of pixel titillation.
