Re: Shantae's Long Lost GBA Sequel 'Risky Revolution' Gets Switch Release Date

MasterGraveheart

@Nintenchrome Don't be. The outfits may be risque, but you don't get a lot of "check out my body" in the game, short of some of Risky's innuendos in the first couple games. And they're a lot of fun. If you want Metroidvanias, you got OG, Risky's Revenge, and Seven Sirens. If you want level-by-level DuckTales-like stuff, that's Half Genie Hero and, to an extent, Pirate's Curse. Lots of fun to be had that isn't coded in provocativeness.

Re: iFixit Performs A Full Teardown Of Nintendo's "P**s-Poor" Pro Controller

MasterGraveheart

Never been a fan of iFixIt. He comes across as a sleezy con-artist who just wants to sell his own stuff off of his "hot takes."

Mine works great. I don't need my Switch 2 Pro Controller to control a laser-accurate shaving razor from orbit or turn on my car from my bedroom. It just needs to PLAY THE GAMES.

And frankly, I've had all of two sets of controllers drift on me, and they were JoyCons. The Pros have always been reliable, knock on wood. I don't know what people are doing to these controllers. Maybe stop treating games like life-or-death fights for survival? shrug

Re: Furukawa's Defence Of Game-Key Cards Ain't All That Convincing

MasterGraveheart

@kmtrain83 Gameplay was fine. The issue came when jumping between games. I don't just play one game for the day, I play a bunch. And many of those are on cards, so, the inconvenience of losing my card slot to play what amounts to a digital game is a huge detriment to me. For example, I'll do my daily run in Animal Crossing (both on cards), then play some of my daily digital games like My Hero Ultra Rumble and Yu-Gi-Oh Master Duel, then move on to wanna play whatever game(s) I'm working on at the moment, which include Cyberpunk 2077 and Street Fighter 6. Cyberpunk is a physical edition for me, but SF6 is the GKC. If SF6 is installed on the system as if it were a digital copy, why am I bothering with a physical card?

What would make the GKCs more bearable is if you only had to have it installed, say, once a week or two weeks as something of an authentication check-in, then be able to keep the slot free after. It wouldn't be great, but to have that convenience of the freed up card slot would be huge for me.

Re: Furukawa's Defence Of Game-Key Cards Ain't All That Convincing

MasterGraveheart

We know Nintendo is keeping the smaller cards to themselves, which is not okay in of itself. The next question is: What's the cost difference between a 64GB card and a Game Key Card. If the amount is relatively small, then we can easily accuse the big companies of being cheap, especially considering how inexpensive a 64GB card is these days.

THAT SAID!

It's also just as likely that Nintendo is being greedy on the subject and they're letting the success of the Switch 1 adversely affect the Switch 2 out of the gate. It's my hope that this situation course-corrects.

Because as of right now, I have no incentive to wanna buy "Game Key Cards." I tried it out with Street Fighter 6, but I don't like it, frankly. Using my physical slot to play a digital game is honestly awful. I'm passing on the Dragon Quest I & II "physical" editions because of it. The only game I would buy it for again at this point is Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade, and only if it had one of those nice deluxe editions. Otherwise, this might be the generation that makes me go primarily digital, which is likely the end goal here.

Re: Pauline's Age In Donkey Kong Bananza Has Been Revealed

MasterGraveheart

I honestly don't think this deserves too much deep lore thought. Things will change with characters on a whim. It's just like Zelda and the supposed timelines. Some games are loosely connected, some are standalone, don't lose sleep, people.

Not everything needs every box checked for lore and detail stuffs.

Re: Two Samus Figures Based On Metroid: Other M Are Making A Return In 2026

MasterGraveheart

I'm going to reiterate the absolute truth of Metroid: Other M.

> The gameplay was quite good.
> The characterization sucked for just about everyone not named Anthony.
> The stages were largely great!
> The way they handled the upgrades also sucked.

It's a 7/10 game, because the gameplay is that good and there were some incredible set pieces... but so much else didn't work.

Re: Pokémon Scarlet & Violet Is Now The Second-Best Selling Game In The Series

MasterGraveheart

"Why make GREAT when GOOD sells better?!" ~GameFreak, probably

I seriously wanna see a Pokemon game that looks modern one day. So much has been recycled at this point. I think it's time for the franchise to get a bit of a polish job. New models, new art style for the PCs, more detail, voice acting, choices with weight (don't MAKE me betray Kieran! I can betray him myself! XD), that kinda thing.

Re: Final Fantasy VII 'Creator's Voice' Implies Rebirth May Also Come To Switch 2

MasterGraveheart

I'd certainly love to see Rebirth and Return (what I'm tentatively calling Part 3 because of the soundtrack theory) on Switch 2! I love these characters and would also seriously wanna see Tifa in the next Smash Bros. Maybe even Zack as an echo fighter and Aerith and Barret as assists, if not a full-fighter for Barret.

I mean, Aerith /could/ work as a fighter. But she might be at a disadvantage with all the sword fighters in the series. (sorry...)

Re: Talking Point: Will You Be Buying Any Game-Key Card Switch 2 Games?

MasterGraveheart

No Game Key cards for me. I want my physical games to actually contain the game on it. I tried to see the advantages, but, found little. I want to buy physical games to save space on my system, but, if I have a digital game, I want to keep my card slot free for a physical game, like right now. I actively play Animal Crossing via a digital game, and Xenoblade Chronicles X and Pokemon Scarlet as a physical. The convenience of the two-pronged approach is meaningful to me.

I'd sooner go to an all-digital format, but while physical media is still being made, I'm going to continue to purchase physical and keep the games forever while not being burdened with the "game license" clauses. To me, the game key card is another cumbersome form of DRM.

tl;dr: If I'm getting a digital game, just let me keep the physical slot clear for a physical game.

Re: "We MUST Resist Buying These Game-Key Releases", Says GamesMaster Host

MasterGraveheart

What bugs me most is that you NEED the key card IN THE CARD SLOT to play the DIGITAL game. That was the deal breaker for me to just go digital for these "game key-card" releases. It just makes both digital and physical games worse.

Personally, it might be Nintendo's way of conditioning us for an inevitable all-digital future. Not a future I look forward to.

Re: Opinion: Oh No, I'm Not A Fan Of Switch 2's Mouse Mode At All

MasterGraveheart

You know what the mouse needs? A cheap plastic bracket to set the JoyCon in so it has a wider base to slide on. I'm worried I'm going to be in an intense firefight in something like Metroid or Doom, and end up toppling over as I slide it around whatever surface I use. A wider platform to set it in would be nice, and would probably not cost much.

So, you know, it'll be charged, like, $30.

There is no bright side. Get angry. Get mad. And aim it at the current administration. Bear down at him and his goon followers. Let the torrent of criticism and rage be nonstop. Protests work. Find any company he's connected to and make life miserable for them. Find his donor companies and boycott them entirely. Make him feel even more broke than he actually is.

Meanwhile, I should propose to someone in Canada. Get citizenship and move over.

Re: Cyberpunk 2077's Physical Edition On Switch 2 Won't Require A Download

MasterGraveheart

I'll definitely be picking this one up. It's interesting, now I'm crunching numbers in my head. The Steam page is listed at 70GB minimum required. This fits on a 64GB. While certainly there'll be some graphical compromises, it's got me thinking ahead to Final Fantasy VII Rebirth (this trilogy was on my Switch 2 wish list), which has about 100GB for Steam size. Now, Switch 2, even in 4K docked, isn't reaching the PC releases file size and if we try and compare graphical size needs to...

Austin Powers: "Oh, no, I've gone cross-eyed..."

I should relax on this for now... x.x;;
