Re: Review: Metroid Prime 4: Beyond - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition (Switch 2) - Samus Returns In Prime Form

MasterGraveheart

"Myles bugs you a little too much."

6/10, too much hand-holding.

But seriously, that should be an option, not mandatory. Not all of us are taking extended breaks between sessions, nor are we all in need of that kind of reminding.

Myles: Hey, Samus, need me to keep in touch?

Samus: No.

Myles: Right-o! Good luck out there!

Also, no I'm not actually rating the game 6/10 because of that, I haven't played it to try for myself, calm your butts, people.

Re: Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds New Free Characters Update, Coming Soon

MasterGraveheart

@EarthboundBenjy I'd be down for that too! Celebrate all of Sonic's incarnations. Heck, have the brown Sonic and Dr. Kintobor from that mini pack-in comic with the original Genesis game on top of that.

@shiningpikablu252 Yes, exactly. Heck, go even further? Sally, Bunnie, and Rotor were actually rescuees in Sonic Spinball. There's precedence of them being in Sega's games.

Re: Poll: So, Will You Be Getting Animal Crossing: New Horizons - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition?

MasterGraveheart

Y'know, honestly, for a $5, the upgrade pack is extremely reasonable. Three new blank canvas islands to create in? Bulk crafting*? Better graphics? New stuff? More storage? Sure, I'm down. I just wanna see three things.

1. Faster load times. First and foremost. Even on Switch 2, ACNH load times are terrible.

2. Unbreakable tools/indicators and opportunities to repair tools. Breakable tools are still one of the most annoying mechanics ever in games.

3. The ability to turn visits on and off, including invitations. I don't have time to waste hosting my villagers all the time and I don't want to even be bothered being asked.

Re: Talking Point: When Did 'Good Enough' Become Good Enough For Pokémon?

MasterGraveheart

I think Pokemon has been in undeniable decline since Gen 6, honestly. With a few standout points of a few games (Megas in Gen 6, Nemona in Gen 9, Legends Arceus), the series is certainly going budget on a big name with the intention of maximizing profit. They focus more on simplistic so there's easy transition to other games, like Pokemon Go. Not to mention the toxic community around the TCG (with the scalpers) and the competitive environment and its handling.

And it's really easy to hate The Pokemon Company right now, between the C&Ds, the way they treated Palworld, the mechanic patenting, and their handling of the shiny Koraidon/Miraidon distributions... Pokemon feels less and less like something worth getting invested and involved in.

I still like hunting and tracking Pokemon, but games feel more like "oh, this again" and less "OH MY GOSH, LOOK AT THIS!" And that's just sad.

Re: Video: Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade Official Side-By-Side Comparison (Switch 2, Xbox, PS5, PC)

MasterGraveheart

So, without taking a super microscopic look? They all legitimately look the same. At some point, graphics just stop being "better" and start just being "more." And you start running out of places to put the polygons. Soon, it won't be so much about polygons (thank goodness) and more about performance, and from all reports, it sounds like FF7R on Switch is performing BEAUTIFULLY. Not 120fps, obviously, but still dang good.

What I really hope we get is a photo mode for Switch 2.

Re: Nintendo Goes Full Pixar In Strange New Animated Short Film, 'Close To You'

MasterGraveheart

I have no idea what this was. It's so hard to figure out. A few franchises do come to mind, like Chibi-Robo and Pikmin, but it's hard to pin down.

Chibi-Robo is my first go-to thought, but, would Nintendo really be ready to bring that franchise back in any way? As expensive as things are, I feel like they're gonna wanna stick to their most profitable franchises.

Sorry, Star Fox...

Re: "I Feel A Great Responsibility To Get It Right" - Naoki Hamaguchi On The Pressure Of Remaking Final Fantasy VII

MasterGraveheart

@AussieMcBucket Yep, I think it'd be all good! I think there are advantages to playing the OG, such as picking up on references, but I wouldn't call it REQUIRED reading, y'know?

But I do also agree with @w1p3out that it's still worth playing the original. It's like, two different flavors of ice cream. Both good, both worthwhile, but you're going to get two different experiences.

But I am going to say if you wanna start with the Remake trilogy, there's nothing wrong with that.

Re: "I Feel A Great Responsibility To Get It Right" - Naoki Hamaguchi On The Pressure Of Remaking Final Fantasy VII

MasterGraveheart

I'm confident in the process for the trilogy. They've made it clear they want to actually retell the original story, so, I'm not expecting any twists like "ZOMG, AERITH LIVES" or any "multiverse" or "timeline" jargon. Those ideas are largely smoke and mirrors to keep the suspense up for those of us who have played the original. But I'm not expecting any big deviations from what the original story was in the end.

Expand, grow, and detail. Don't deviate.

Re: "I Feel A Great Responsibility To Get It Right" - Naoki Hamaguchi On The Pressure Of Remaking Final Fantasy VII

MasterGraveheart

@AussieMcBucket As a thorough fan of the original, I'd say it's not necessary. The Remake trilogy is largely a retelling with some smoke and mirrors to deceive the veterans into anticipating something new, but by and large, it's hit every single beat, but expanded on it all. It also fleshes out the characters much better, especially Yuffie, who was relegated to secret character status in the OG.

Re: Feature: Who Is Devon Pritchard? - Meet The Next NOA President Stepping Into Bowser's Boots

MasterGraveheart

The only thing positive about Doug Bowser was that one meme photo of him with the Mario Bros. plushies tied up together... and nothing since. It was clear he was more about the business than the fun. It's my hope that Ms. Pritchard's tenure is more Reggie and less Bowser.

I know Nintendo of Japan has final say on that kind of stuff, but I feel like Reggie had some footing and presence for that. He often appeared alongside Iwata, Miyamoto, and others. Hopefully Pritchard can be in their ear on a positive note too.
