"It has the best of both worlds!" Agreed which is exactly why I'm so happy to see a new MH game on the Switch. Also, all of my yes to Astral Chain crossover skins.
I'm pretty much indifferent towards the visuals though I would have preferred a look closer to LGPE. However, the legs of the main characters when moving in the overworld look so bad to me.
I'm trying to juggle my time between playing Ys 8 Lacrimosa of Dana, Bravely Default 2 and Stardew Valley. I also just caught a shiny fat Pikachu in Pokemon Sword. My Switch has been really busy recently and to think that a new Monster Hunter game is right around the corner ...
Well, I'm not going to wait a year for the PC version and was going to get it on Switch anyway so nothing has changed for me. Though it's nice that the series is getting more exposure I suppose
Already played 2 hours and am really enjoying it. I don't see the issue with the visuals as some others do, in fact I quite like them. But then again, I consider Link's Awakening to be the best looking Switch game at the moment. I do regret having started Ys 8 earlier this week though since this means I have less time to spend on BD2.
@StefanN Right? You hear it all the time from indie devs that their sales rise tremendously when they bring their games to the Switch. It's beyond me that there are still indie devs who are hesitant to develop their games with the Switch in mind on release
@RadioHedgeFund Certainly not in the gameplay department. (Re)playing XCDE last year made me appreciate how much they improved the combat in XCX and even further in XC2. The sidequests are also pretty bad in the first one which basically all come down to collect X amount of items on the ground or slay X amount of monsters. Then there's the massive heart-to-heart event grind ... I'm not trying to talk down XC1 because it's a fantastic game and XC2 has its own issues like field skills and character design/personality but it's not such a clear case of "XC2 is trash compared to XC1" as the Internet tries to make one believe.
I started a new farm in Stardew Valley after the recent update and I'm pretty hooked again so I'll be playing lots of that. I'm also going to collect the remaining green stars in 3D World.
I was initially okay with the direct but the more I think about it the less I like it. The only announcments I'm interested in are Mario Golf and the Ninja Gaiden Collection and those aren't even new games. The price of Skyward Sword is also incredibly questionable considering we just got Mario Galaxy for the same price and that had 64 and Sunshine included. It's also way too soon for Splatoon 3 imo. Splatoon 2 was already pushing it and felt more like Splatoon 1.5 than a true sequel.
That's nice to hear. It's my favourite 3D Mario game and replaying it on Switch is a blast. There is something about the pace of the game and level design that really meshes with me
So you're telling me the people on the Internet calling these games garbage cashgrabs are actually a minority? I'm utterly shocked. goes back to shiny hunting in dynamax adventures
I'm not sure if this should be such a priority. The Pokemon games are one of the few competitive games in which hacking cannot give you an advantage over other players since illegal Pokemon cannot be used anyway. Plus as was already said, they'd need to either go back and fix the 3DS games or cut them off entirely from Home because the majority of the hacked Pokemon I recieved via wondertrade are in fact from Gen7.
I unlocked the new theme in Tetris 99 and checked out the Monster Hunter Rise demo. I'll also be continuing my island renovation in Animal Crossing New Horizons.
I feel like 2020 was a bit weaker than previous years in terms of first party output but I don't really mind. It gave me the chance to work on my backlog and actually replay some of the games I wanted to replay. 2021 looks very promising though.
I finally decided to continue my savefile of Dragon's Dogma Dark Arisen and I'm addicted again. It's such a great game, hopefully we get a sequel one day. I also am playing Picross S5 and Tetris99.
@kobashi100 It's so simple though. Nintendo gamers exclusively buy Nintendo games. 3rd party games on Switch sell so well because the Switch is in a constant state of drought. /s
That's a very quick discount on IFR even for Ubisoft. I kinda feel bad for the people who just bought this for full price ... 2 weeks ago ... at launch.
GT gets a lot of slack, a lot of it rightfully so, but it has some very iconic characters and I always enjoyed playing those in the other DB games. I'm really looking forward to these.
That's unfortunate in a way. I had some solid fun with some of the free games offered by QubicGames last year. I understand that it has a negative effect on the current iteration of the eshop but I don't think the solution to this is to block developers from doing this but rather to redesign the eshop which is something many developers have asked for to begin with.
"A modern game would never ask you to try setting random bushes alight to reveal a hidden passageway without signalling it with a huge neon 'SECRET HERE!' sign"
And that's a good thing because it is horrible game design. I'm grateful for TLoZ on the NES because it started my favourite Nintendo franchise but the game isn't good. Having to bomb walls and burn bushes without any indicator whatsoever is not fun. Even BotW gives you visual clues for puzzles and secrets and that is often said to be a loveletter to the first Zelda game
@COVIDberry From what I've gathered, Doom Zero is a fanmade mod that was released on 30.09.2019. It's now been officially added to the game which is pretty cool imo.
I already have it pre-loaded and am ready to dive into it this weekend. The first HW game was one of my favourite Wii U games, I'm sure this won't disappoint
Haha, the people wanting to give the IP to Monolith are funny. I cannot wait to have Pokemon be hidden behind gatcha mechanics and you need to level certain Pokemon to unlock field skills (basically the dreaded HMs of the old games) to progress thus making exploration tedious.
The Pokemon games have issues but most of them can be solved by giving the developers more time for development. It's clear that GF was struggling on a technical level with HD development on a console after developing on outdated handheld hardware the past years. They are now out of their comfort zone. Giving them more time would have helped them sort many of those issues out.
Reading most of the comments in here and it seems like people want to turn the games into something completely different which just baffles me. Just go play the Persona games if you want to play a Persona game.

Re: What Are Your Most-Played Switch Games This Year? Find Out With Nintendo's Year In Review
Most played games: Pokemon Sword, Animal Crossing New Horizons, Hades, SNES NSO (almost all of that playtime went into Mario's Super Picross)
Played 82 games for a total of 1072 hours and I was active on 276 days. I played the most on Monday 26.10.2020

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (November 28th)
Just Age of Calamity this weekend
Re: Hyrule Warriors: Age Of Calamity Is Already The Best-Selling Warriors Game Of All Time
It's a very good game, glad it's successful. The BotW elements add a lot of depth to the combat which is usually lacking in the Warriors games.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (November 21st)
Age of Calamity and maybe a bit of Pokemon Sword
Re: Review: Kingdom Hearts: Melody Of Memory - A Marvelous Musical Trip Down Memory Lane
I'd prefer a FF Theatrythm game over this. I may pick it up during a sale, the demo was just okay-ish to me
Re: Poll: Hyrule Warriors: Age Of Calamity Is Out Today, Are You Getting It?
Already played a couple of hours, it's good fun. It's definitely more Zelda than Warriors this time compared to the first Hyrule Warriors game.
