@Pat_trick They added fighting styles in LA. You can switch between a fast style that allows you to use multiple attacks in succession and an offensive style which boosts the power of your attacks. I don't think the battle system needs an overhaul though.
@Arkay Oh I know. The obnoxious fanbase also put me off from playing Undertale for years. Glad I finally played it though as it is now one of my favourite indie games. I'm happy for Toby Fox's success across the board.
I've only played GTA 4 on PS3 and GTA 5 on PS4 and didn't really enjoy either of them. I may give these a go though as I can see myself enjoying them handheld a bit more than playing on the big screen.
As many already said: it depends on the genre. I don't mind short games at all. I've beaten A Short Hike in roughly 1 hour and that game really sticked with me and left me very happy after beating it. I also don't use length as a metric to judge a game's value. I'd rather pay for an enjoyable short game than a long tedious game.
I got all the fighters due to the fighter passes and I own about half of the Mii costumes. It's a shame that you cannot get your custom Miis via the random selection so I barely see those Mii costumes ingame. Some of those are actually really cool so that's a bummer
I play my Switch about equally in docked and handheld mode. For games that don't require much focus, I tend to play them in handheld mode while having Netflix, Youtube, etc. on the big screen. Story focused games I usually play on the TV.
I only ever use (wireless) headphones when playing the Switch on the go. Sometimes it's a mixture of both depending on mood.
Sometimes games surprise me though. I fully expected to play The Great Ace Attourney Chronicles in handheld mode but I ended up playing the entire thing on my TV.
I've been watching his (almost) daily uploads for a good year now. He's a pretty humble and respectful person and listening to his thought processes helped me step up my competitive game quite a bit. The article is a nice read aswell
I do think the price is too high for what is on offer if you are using the single user subscription. However, as with the basic NSO subscription, the family membership ist still incredibly good value for the asking price even with the price increase. I'd say if you aren't already in a family membership, now is the time to get into one.
Lemme guess, we have to show our support by purchasing the cloud versions first until they consider giving us the real deal. Haven't heard that one in a while.
This is absurd. This could have been amazing but then they decide to force you into paying for the AC expansion. Their line of reasoning is probably that you get expansion for free but that's even more ridiculous. The base subscription offers a lot more than the expansion for less money ... utterly absurd.
@Ironcore People who never had a Switch. People who have a V1 Switch and want those upgrades like better battery life, screen and dock. People who wanted a second Switch specifically for handheld play but don't like the Lite. There are plenty of people who could be interested in an OLED Switch ...
@Yorumi And I am saying the people who say one thing on the Internet and do the other are completely irrelevant because they are an insignificant portion of the customerbase that are in no way representative for the people who bought Sword and Shield in any shape or form.
@Yorumi Not really. As you said, the Internet is not a proper sample group as there is a huge disconnect between the people commenting on online forums and the average gamer. Heck, even within the online community there is the issue of angry people being more vocal than the happy people. I spend a lot of time on Gamefaqs and it's always amusing to see so much negativity in the comments while poll results showcase that the majority of the people are actually happy with things, they just don't comment as often as those who are unhappy.
Btw: If online comments were any indication of the real world, Nintendo would have been out of business years ago with their outdated hardware
@DomGC People on the Internet are a tiny yet vocal minority within the fanbase and whatever you see online bears no relevance to the reality of things. It doesn't even matter wether the people complaining about Sword and Shield actually bought the games or not because they are a tiny and insignificant fraction of the actual fanbase anyway.
I've played a bit of it on PC via Gamepass and quite enjoyed it. I do however think I'd prefer playing this on my Switch so I am glad to see the port holds up. Also very excited to see crossplay multiplayer as I really enjoyed the few multiplayer matches I played on PC.
Also, how about a Labo VR compatibility update
I've played an hour so far and think it is pretty great. It defintely feels like classic 2D Metroid modernised. Gotta say though, younger me would not have been able to get past the EMMI sections due to being too scared
TLDR: Porting them requires effort and money but SE wants the customers' money without that.
I reallly doubt that it takes a dedicated porting team 2 years to port the 1.5 and 2.5 HD Remixes to Switch. Even then, the Switch is now over 4 years old and there was plenty of time to start working on those ports. The cartridge issue also sounds like a weak excuse. Stuff like this really makes you appreciate the Witcher 3 port even more.
I'm not opposed to cloud gaming if it's something like Gamepass since those games are rented anyway. I would never pay full price for a cloud game though.
I'm very happy about Sora being in Smash. But as others already pointed out, the licensing issues with Disney are very obvious. His moveset and the stages are missing a lot of the Kingdom Hearts essence due to this unfortunately.
I'm a big fan of Darksiders 1 and 2 but 3 is a very weird game. They tried to cash in on the hype around the Souls formula but that didn't work. The visuals on PC were easily the best thing about Darksiders 3 so if those are gone in the Switch version I cannot really recommend this game.
While I am usually always for "the more (platforms) the merrier", the Bayonetta games are a different case. The franchise would be dead if Nintendo didn't step in so them being exclusive to Nintendo hardware just seems right. We already know Bayonetta 3 will get reviewbombed from console fanboys just like Astral Chain
@dbeiler0814 And I find it interesting you are so fixated on a crime that literally does no harm to the industry or developers and only harms a bunch of people who are trying to make a fortune out of overpricing a bunch of GB games that cannot be purchased on recent hardware on ebay. Maybe you are one of those people? That would at least explain it.
@dbeiler0814 I am all for buying games instead of emulating some ROMs you found on the Internet. However, buying a GameBoy and GameBoy games does nothing for the developers. You will not only overpay compared to the retail price back in the day you will also put that money into some stranger's pocket instead of supporting the developers who worked on the game. It's hard to call that "stealing" at this point. Now, if these games are available to purchase digitally that's another story.
No, I have no interest in the series. I didn't even know about this series before the 3rd game was announced on Switch and everything I've seen looks unappealing to me. I hope the people who are getting it are having a good time though
I wonder why they waited so long for it. It was in some of the earlier trailers already and you could fight Wartortle in the tutorials at release. Oh well, at least the starter trio is back together at last.
@Noisy_neighbour I mean it's been only 2 years since EA defended their predatory lootboxes as "surprise mechanics" before the UK parliament. That said they have definitely improved compared to the past but that was a low bar to begin with.
It's really impressive to see what people make out of this "limited" tool. If you told me that was an official Monkey Ball game I would have believed it.
@VoidofLight The competitive scene is going pretty strong and GameFreak are regularly updating the ruleset about which Pokemon are allowed to use in order to keep it fresh. There are raids and dynamax adventures to hunt for rare Pokemon in PvE. GameFreak is regularly updating the wild area events to thematically increase the odds of finding certain Pokemon, some of them with very high chances of being shiny. There are now 2 forms of shiny Pokemon aswell as rare marks so there are now a ton of different things people can hunt for if they care about that aspect of Pokemon. In short, there is plenty to do if you like collecting Pokemon
Well, we all know people will go out of their way to complain about whatever is shown anyway. I'm personally looking forward to getting more information on both, BDSP and LA.
@ComradeThom Oh right, I completely forgot about Detective Pikachu 2. It's about time they drop some new info about that one
This has been on the market for quite a while now and I don't see any issue with it. It's not like riding your bicycle in circles for multiple hours is something that requires skill to begin with.
@Wavey84 Nonsense. I own the game on Switch, PS4 and PC and the Switch version holds up very well, both in terms of visuals and performance. The only real downside are the long loading times on Switch will add up quite a bit. There are plenty of comparison videos on Youtube that showcase that your claim is just wrong.
@Old-Red Or maybe parents should actually spend some time looking into what games their kids are playing, especially when it comes to online games so that their kid doesn't risk developing an unhealthy addiction in the first place.
Man, Capcom really delivered on the Switch this year with Monster Hunter Rise, Stories 2 and now with the Great Ace Attorney Chronicles. I can't wait to play these
