Twilight Princess is probably my favourite Zelda game (imo it's a straight up better version of OoT) and after replaying Super Mario Sunshine in the 3D-All-Stars Collection my opinion on it improved a lot. FLUDD made platforming really fun and the visuals held up really well. Can't say much about New Super Mario Bros. 2 since I am not really interested in 2D Mario games and have never played that one. Majora's Mask is a weird one though. I personally don't like the 3-day mechanic myself aswell because it really is stressful but at the same time I like the game because the 3-day timer manages to create an amazing world that wouldn't be possible without it.
These tracks don't feel like they belong in Mario Kart 8 at all, they look more like tracks out of Mario Kart Wii that got the HD treatment. I rewatched a Moo Moo Meadow comparison video (MKWii vs MK8) earlier which further convinced me about that. When I think of Mario Kart 8 I think of stuff like Shy Guy Falls. A course in which you drive up a waterfall while you can watch and hear the Shy Guys working in the mines. Anti-gravity may not have changed the gameplay a lot but it certainly added a ton of flavour to the courses. I can't find any of those lovely details and creativity in the new tracks. They all look so bland and lifeless.
Right now I am able to play these tracks with NSO+ but I am not sure I'd be willing to purchase those tracks on their own given the quality, regardless of the relatively low asking price. This is definitely quantity over quality. As someone who has played Mario Kart 8 on WiiU the long wait for new MK content was exhausting and to get these low quality mobile port courses after all this time definitely feels disappointing...
Not sure why not being a fit for public play has to be negative. Sure, I wouldn't play it on a bus or train just like I wouldn't watch porn on my smartphone as this is getting into sexual harassement territory if a bystander is exposed to it. However, there are plenty of other games I wouldn't play in public aswell like Mortal Kombat. In fact, the higher the age rating of a game/movie the more you should consider not playing/watching it in public as it may contain content that not everyone is okay with.
Anyway, I played GalGun 2 on Switch and it was ... okay. I like fanservice games but these games feel like they don't dive deep enough into the fanservice aspects which leaves you with just enough fanservice to be offputting for people who don't like that kind of stuff but not enough fanservice for the people who are really into it. The gun play is also very basic and the lack of gyro aiming doesn't help with this one.
Giving away 500 Mythril for acknowledging the dissatisfaction with the monetization does nothing. They shouldn't have launched a full priced game with all these microtransactions. They should have done it like Disney and only launched a F2P game.
Mostly Elden Ring and whenever I am tired of dying over and over again I continue my Total War Three Kingdoms campaign. Though Triangle Strategy is looking very tempting aswell.
The lack of content in PLA has me worried although it could mean that most of their effort went into Gen 9. I'll need to see a bit more before I am getting excited.
Well, it isn't anywhere near GamePass but to be fair nothing comes close to the value of GamePass at the moment. I still think NSO is solid enough for what it is. It's also cheaper, especially if you are part of a family membership.
I've discovered plenty of retro games that I enjoyed that I would never have bought if they were offered via VC like in the past. I do think the frequency of added games should be a lot higher though. I also question decisions like not including FE1 in NSO. Offering DLC with subscription is a pretty good call though imo and I hope we see more of that in the future.
Meh. I appreciate that GameFreak is trying something new and this is the first "proper" 3D game in the franchise. There are also a lot of nice features that I'd like to see implemented in the main games in the future. That said, I'm currently 20 hours into the game and I just don't feel it. There is absolutely no point in capturing the Pokemon since there is barely anything to use them on. There are no gyms, barely any trainers, no PvP and wild Pokemon can be caught without fighting. Like, what's the point? Every time I'm playing PLA I'm just thinking about wanting to play New Pokemon Snap since the gameplay loop is basically the same but NPS looks a lot better. At this point I'm just playing to see the credits roll and call it a day. Meanwhile I am still playing Pokemon Sword after almost 500 hours of playtime ...
I really hope the next game is a traditional mainline game
Man, this really blows. This game is pretty niche to begin with and now they do stuff like this that will turn away potential players. A real shame as I was looking forward to this game since Mario Kart 8 got really stale. But now with all this monetization nonsense and new MK8 content on the way I won't get this game until it is heavily discounted.
A Short Hike is such a special game. It's really short but I absolutely loved every minute of it. It's a game that's constantly on my mind even after beating it months ago.
I think I will finally bite the bullet with this one. The high price tag was a real turn off for me considering it doesn't have online multiplayer. Now for this price and online multiplayer on the way I think it's finally time to get it
I do appreciate good graphics but they are by no means mandatory for a game to be enjoyable. PLA looks fine enough for me anyway so I don't see the issue. And people are hung up on the trees yet again? Maybe they should go outside and touch some trees.
Gal Gun 2 was pretty fun so I may give this a try. I do think the "diy tentacle kit" is kind of lame though. You can just head to amazon and order them if you want some stockings. A different design to fit the game would have gone a long way to make this a worthy inclusion in this special edition.
I definitely regret trading in games for a pocket change when I was younger or even worse throwing them away. I wish I could go back in time and knock some sense into young me haha
I skipped on this because it released so close to Pokemon BDSP and they actually charged a lot more on Switch compared to other platforms which is something I don't want to support. The game looks good though so I'll get it during a sale down the line. Maybe all these updates will be released by then aswell
@UltimateOtaku91 It's only optional until it isn't. You can claim microtransactions are optional as much as you want but games like Ghost Recon Breakpoint clearly showed that the lines can and will be crossed with this stuff and it will affect your enjoyment of the game. You are incredibly naive if you are thinking that companies won't find a way to do the same with NFTs
I'll avoid any games featuring NFTs just like I avoid any games featuring microtransactions and lootboxes. Should NFTs somehow manage to become the future for gaming I might actually be able to clear my backlog after all.
I definitely think he and his team succeeded at creating an amazing game. They created an impressive balance between being a party fighting game aswell as a competitive fighting game. The overall balance is also impressive considering the large roster size. My only gripe is the somewhat lackluster singleplayer content but it's hard to be mad about that when there is so much on offer. This is probably the game that deserves "Ultimate" in its title the most.
Nice to see some love for the The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles. These two when played back to back are probably my favourite games in the franchise.
These lists are always subjective so people getting up in arms over (the lack of) certain inclusions should calm down. Overall I think 2021 was a pretty good year for me in terms of releases and I am sure my empty wallet would agree with me
@somebread There is a scene in GTA5. It's not player controlled but the player has the option of watching or stopping the scene. Either way I agree with Heavyarms55. There is such a double standard when it comes to violence and sex in videogames. Like, people celebrate the ridiculous violence in games like Mortal Kombat yet even seeing something mild like panties in videogames still makes people raise their eyebrows. There is nothing wrong if someone dislikes these fanservice games but there is also nothing wrong if someone does enjoy them.
More on topic though, I'm currently playing through Prison Princess which is from the same developer so I'll definitely keep an eye out for this one.
I'm still not feeling it as it looks so similar to Splatoon 1 and 2. I hope they show something that heavily differentiates it from the first two games because right now it looks like it should have simply been an addon for Splatoon 2 to me. Also, please get rid of the map rotation system already.
I actually enjoyed the Nintendo minute videos and thought the 2 hosts had good chemistry on screen. A shame that it's cancelled but all things must end sooner or later I suppose.
On the one hand that is nice. On the other hand, I recently watched a PS4 review of this and it seems like they severly toned down the fanservice in this crossover (most likely due to Sony's policies) which is a shame.
These are among the best games in the franchise, especially Assassins Creed 2 (my favourite) and Brotherhood. Black Flag and Rogue were pretty good ports so I'm not too pessimistic when it comes to potential ports. I'm definitely double dipping if these make their way to the Switch
I'm currently 4 hours into SMTV but man is the performance rough. "It doesn't matter in a turnbased game" doesn't really hold much water when you spend just as much time running around in the overworld as you are spending in battles. I really wished they managed to target constant 30 fps. That said, it takes more than that to make me abandon a game but it certainly muddies my opinion on it.
Well, fixing the glitches turned this game from a 7 to a 5 for me. This is the worst endgame grind Pokemon has been since Generation 4. An absolut regression from the improvements GameFreak made over the last couple of Generations in order to reduce the grind. And then ILCA has the nerve to call it " more pleasant gameplay". 200 BP for Ability Patches? 80 BP for TM Earthquake? And all of that in a win streak based Battle Tower. I'm glad I disabled auto updates or else I'd be shelving this game now.
My first GC was the black one but I also got a purple one down the road. I always liked that there were so many different colour variations of the GC like the orange one or the silver one. It really set the GC apart from the competition visually
@Ryu_Niiyama I kind of agree. I have played the game since launch and it wasn't until the 2.0 update that I was able to get my hands on a soccer ball to accompany my soccer goal setup. This is something that the new update and DLC do great aswell. With Reese you are now able to customize your items so you don't have to rely on other players and the shop in the happy home island gives you access to (almost?) all of the new items and variants once you have unlocked the catalogue.
This update definitely deserves the 2.0 number since it feels like a second launch of the game. There is now so much stuff to do, especially with the DLC. I'd be interested but I already own it digitally. It's a decent shootemup and there is a big jump in quality over the first game.
