Re: Hideki Kamiya Is Leaving PlatinumGames

MajinSoul

Well, that means my interest in PG dropped hard since Hideki Kamiya was the heart and soul of PG to me. Hopefully he will find another studio to work at. The industry needs more people like him, not less.

Re: Creatures Inc. Undertakes A Significant Change In Leadership

There seem to be a lot of changes for Pokemon going forward and I don't like it. We lost Turner and this was already noticable with the questionable Pokemon design in Scarlet and Violet. We lost Masuda and this was already noticable with the lack of content in Arceus and SV (running around in an open world is not worthwhile content, at least for me...). Now we will lose Tanaka and I am sure this will also be noticable one way or the other.

Re: Random: Nintendo's Brand Momentum Has Been Flat Since 2018, Says Sony

MajinSoul

Modern Sony is kind of joke and the PS4 was definitely my last Sony console. Their first party output this gen has been pretty lackluster (what do they even have to offer apart from God of War at this point?) and they are pushing away and actively harming developers with their ridiculous censorship. No wonder they are throwing a tantrum about the possibility of losing access to the Call of the Duty games.

The Nintendo brand is doing pretty well actually between the Switch, mobile gaming, movies and even a theme park as others have said already.

Re: Site News: Love What We Do? Become A Nintendo Life Supporter!

If this was NL from the 3DS/WiiU era I might have considered it but things have changed, both the community and the staff, and I don't like the direction it went. I basically only come here to quickly check if I somehow missed any news at this point.

But I am seeing positive reception and a couple of verification icons so there seems to be an audience.

Re: Poll: Do You Want Weapon Degradation To Return In Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom?

MajinSoul

The weapon breaking added absolutely nothing to the experience. The number one argument in favour of it that I have kept seeing was "it entices you to explore and find new weapons" which just isn't true. Your weapons will break while you are trying to find new weapons which means you end up in the exact same spot that you were before going out to find new weapons ... so why bother?

Re: Random: Masahiro Sakurai Says He Prefers To Buy Video Games Digitally

@SwitchForce I do lose access to a physical game if I have lost the physical copy of it so not sure what point you are trying to make. You cannot play a physical copy if you don't have the cartridge/disc anymore. People tend to freak out over "not owning" digital games and losing access if digital stores close so that's why I said I never had an issue with that during like 2 decades of digital gaming.
Sales happen to both, digital and physical games. Physical games tend to actually go up in price over time(way beyond the initial retail pricing) so again, I fail to see the point you are trying to make.
Sure, you need storage for digital games but so far I have not had an issue with this. You can go very far with a 500 GB micro SD card on Switch since Switch games usually don't take up a lot of space so no, not all games "require a ton of space". SSD/HDD storage for PC/PS/Xbox is pretty cheap aswell at this point. Besides, a good chunk of physical games recieves updates nowadays so you will need storage regardless of going 100% physical.

Re: Random: Masahiro Sakurai Says He Prefers To Buy Video Games Digitally

I am buying both pyhsical and digital games. The biggest pro of going digital that isn't listed in this article is not having to swap cartridges to play your games. It may seem like a minor convenience but it's actually a big one for me. That's why I tend to buy games digitally that I intend to play over a long period of time e. g. games like Monster Hunter Rise.

Btw: I have lost a couple of physical copies of games but I never have lost access to my digital copies

Re: Feature: Best Nintendo Switch Ports Of 2022

MajinSoul

I have only played Persona 5 Royal, Nier Automata and FF7 Crisis Core Reunion from that list and all three have been outstanding ports. I gotta give it to Persona 5 Royal though since the game looks amazing on the Switch OLED screen. The game uses a lot of black and red colours and those really shine.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (December 17th)

MajinSoul

@Earthbound28 Nier Automata was pretty great and it's a good sequel to Nier (which was one of my favourite RPGs on the PS3). I really liked the setting and story. It also has one of the best OST I have ever heard.

As for Persona 5, I already beat it on PS4 a few years ago and am now replaying through Royal on Switch. It's a pretty long game and enough time has passed that a lot of it feels fresh again(plus the changes with Royal help with that aswell).

Re: Feature: Nintendo Switch Year In Review 2022 - Our Most Played Games

MajinSoul

My top 3 were: Xenoblade Chronicles 3 (74h), Rune Factory 5 (74h) and the NSO N64 App (67h). My playtime was relatively low this year unfortunately due to getting back into Guild Wars 2 and an overall lack of time but it was a pretty great year for the Switch overall. I have a ton of games that I have bought this year and are now sitting in my backlog.
