Really weird to see people calling it "petty". Is it because they don't care about the game in question? Or because it was only "DLC"? They sold the game based on false advertisement which is incredibly scummy.
Well, that means my interest in PG dropped hard since Hideki Kamiya was the heart and soul of PG to me. Hopefully he will find another studio to work at. The industry needs more people like him, not less.
There seem to be a lot of changes for Pokemon going forward and I don't like it. We lost Turner and this was already noticable with the questionable Pokemon design in Scarlet and Violet. We lost Masuda and this was already noticable with the lack of content in Arceus and SV (running around in an open world is not worthwhile content, at least for me...). Now we will lose Tanaka and I am sure this will also be noticable one way or the other.
Modern Sony is kind of joke and the PS4 was definitely my last Sony console. Their first party output this gen has been pretty lackluster (what do they even have to offer apart from God of War at this point?) and they are pushing away and actively harming developers with their ridiculous censorship. No wonder they are throwing a tantrum about the possibility of losing access to the Call of the Duty games.
The Nintendo brand is doing pretty well actually between the Switch, mobile gaming, movies and even a theme park as others have said already.
I will be the bad guy and say I hate her performance. She singlehandedly forced me to play BotW with German voices because I could not stand her whiny voice and I usually never play with German voices (which is my native language). And her performance in TotK isn't any better imo. At least they let you freely switch the language in the main menu ...
This was exactly what I was afraid of after the huge success of BotW. I enjoyed BotW and I am enjoying TotK but not as Zelda games. People said they could always implement more traditional Zelda elements into the BotW formula to get best of both worlds but here we are with TotK and those are nowhere to be seen.
If this was NL from the 3DS/WiiU era I might have considered it but things have changed, both the community and the staff, and I don't like the direction it went. I basically only come here to quickly check if I somehow missed any news at this point.
But I am seeing positive reception and a couple of verification icons so there seems to be an audience.
I liked BotW but I didn't love it as much as many others. So since I don't want to support an uncalled price increase I would happily wait until I stumble upon a sale.
The weapon breaking added absolutely nothing to the experience. The number one argument in favour of it that I have kept seeing was "it entices you to explore and find new weapons" which just isn't true. Your weapons will break while you are trying to find new weapons which means you end up in the exact same spot that you were before going out to find new weapons ... so why bother?
My Sephiroth amiibo should arrive tomorrow. This time I made sure to order early knowing that it will definitely go up in price. The Cloud amiibo is like 50 bucks over here, ugh. Don't really care about Kazuya or Tekken in general so I will only buy one if I ever end up seeing a cheap listing somewhere
@SwitchForce I do lose access to a physical game if I have lost the physical copy of it so not sure what point you are trying to make. You cannot play a physical copy if you don't have the cartridge/disc anymore. People tend to freak out over "not owning" digital games and losing access if digital stores close so that's why I said I never had an issue with that during like 2 decades of digital gaming.
Sales happen to both, digital and physical games. Physical games tend to actually go up in price over time(way beyond the initial retail pricing) so again, I fail to see the point you are trying to make.
Sure, you need storage for digital games but so far I have not had an issue with this. You can go very far with a 500 GB micro SD card on Switch since Switch games usually don't take up a lot of space so no, not all games "require a ton of space". SSD/HDD storage for PC/PS/Xbox is pretty cheap aswell at this point. Besides, a good chunk of physical games recieves updates nowadays so you will need storage regardless of going 100% physical.
I am buying both pyhsical and digital games. The biggest pro of going digital that isn't listed in this article is not having to swap cartridges to play your games. It may seem like a minor convenience but it's actually a big one for me. That's why I tend to buy games digitally that I intend to play over a long period of time e. g. games like Monster Hunter Rise.
Btw: I have lost a couple of physical copies of games but I never have lost access to my digital copies
I have played more retro games via NSO than I have on any of the previous platforms combined (Wii, Wii U and 3DS). I like having the ability to check these games out as part of the subscription. For those that prefer to "own" their VC games the option to purchase them would be nice of course.
I have only played Persona 5 Royal, Nier Automata and FF7 Crisis Core Reunion from that list and all three have been outstanding ports. I gotta give it to Persona 5 Royal though since the game looks amazing on the Switch OLED screen. The game uses a lot of black and red colours and those really shine.
@JJtheTexan Yeah, that's the first thing that came to my mind aswell. They have been throwing a lot of shade towards Nintendo (no doubt in order to boost their own success) since they worked on their own channel. I wouldn't be surprised if Nintendo did that in order to cut ties with those two.
@Earthbound28 Nier Automata was pretty great and it's a good sequel to Nier (which was one of my favourite RPGs on the PS3). I really liked the setting and story. It also has one of the best OST I have ever heard.
As for Persona 5, I already beat it on PS4 a few years ago and am now replaying through Royal on Switch. It's a pretty long game and enough time has passed that a lot of it feels fresh again(plus the changes with Royal help with that aswell).
My top 3 were: Xenoblade Chronicles 3 (74h), Rune Factory 5 (74h) and the NSO N64 App (67h). My playtime was relatively low this year unfortunately due to getting back into Guild Wars 2 and an overall lack of time but it was a pretty great year for the Switch overall. I have a ton of games that I have bought this year and are now sitting in my backlog.
I'm just glad that they didn't abandon the game already. We have had so many great games coming to the Switch this year but we've gotten like, what? 2 Themes this year? And both of them were from games that released early this year.

I had no idea that a Harvest Moon SNES game existed. What's even weirder is the fact that it looks better than the recent Harvest Moon games

Re: Harvest Moon: The Winds Of Anthos Pre-Orders Come With Adorable Cuddly Cow
At least it doesn't look horrendous in terms of visuals this time. I still don't really expect much of the Harvest Moon games at this point ...

I liked it more than Mario 35 but it didn't have as much lasting appeal as Tetris99 for me. I will try to get a few more games in before it shuts down

About time they did something balance wise. It's been super boring to see the same character + vehicle loadouts in every lobby when playing online.

Persona 4 Golden 10
Persona 5 Royal 9

2022 was a pretty good year for the Switch imo but to each their own
Re: Talking Point: What Game Do You Replay Every Year?
I used to replay Final Fantasy X and Bloodborne yearly but with less spare time available I had to cut down on that unfortunately.
