Re: Nintendo Expands Its Switch Online SNES Service With Three More Titles

MajinSoul

It's so weird to me that whenever I read discussions about Nintendo's best console, the SNES is usually the most beloved one. Yet whenever Nintendo adds new SNES games to the NSO people complain about how bad these games are.
I personally am fine with them adding these lesser known/popular games to the service. Mario Picross was a real hidden gem for me lastg year. People should try to be a bit more open-minded.

Re: Pokémon Unite Is Out Today, First Ranked Match Season Now Underway

MajinSoul

@miitomobenji You can get those items with the free 2 play currency aswell though. I'd say the bigger issue long term is the fact that you can upgrade these items for better stats and upgrading them is quite expensive so it will take a while to do so. So anyone jumping in like half a year from now will have a significant statistical disadvantage versus players who played a while already.

Re: Pokémon Unite Is Out Today, First Ranked Match Season Now Underway

MajinSoul

I spend roughly 6 hours on it today and it is actually alright. I can see myself playing a match of it every now and then. I may be biased though because I got that sweet Talonflame skin today due to good RNG. Seriously though, I expected it to be another free to play Pokemon game like Cafe Mix and Quest that I play once and then immediately delete again but it's actually decent.

Re: Soapbox: Can We Just Announce All Platforms At The Same Time Already?

MajinSoul

I am 100% convinced that companies try to get people to double dip for their games by delaying the games on Switch or announcing the Switch version way past the game's initial launch. A very recent example is Dragonball Z Kakarot which comes to Switch 2 years after it launched on all other platforms. Initially I fell for this tactic and double dipped quite often but I have changed my stance on 3rd party games. If I think a game is a fit for the Switch but hasn't been announced for it yet I just don't buy it at all until a Switch version is announced. If the Switch version is later announced and it ends up being a bad port I can always buy it on PC or PS4 where it's probably on sale already anyway.

Re: Gabe Newell: Pricing Valve's Switch-Like Steam Deck Was "Painful"

MajinSoul

400 bucks seem like a steal at first glance but you really should go with the more expensive options since 64 GB are basically useless for PC gaming. And then you are moving in a price range well beyond the Switch's price. The dock has to be bought extra aswell and you only have 1 non-detachable controller compared to the 2 JoyCons that can serve as 2 controllers in a lot of games. I would like to be excited about this but I'm not really feeling it and I absolutely hate the button layout aswell.

Re: Sword And Shield Leakers Required To Pay The Pokémon Company $150K Each

MajinSoul

@Mr-Fuggles777 Are you trying to compare the act of attempting to escape the (probably) bad living conditions in their own country in order to get a better chance at life to someone breaking a NDA in order to get some internet points? That's a very weird comparison. These guys didn't break the NDA for some noble cause and depsite what some peple claim in the comments they are not the victims that get bullied by some rich company. But yeah, if there are laws that regulate the immigration to a country then those should be upheld. We don't have any walls in Germany though, well not anymore anyway

I also don't like the way you say "simply breaking a NDA". You don't "simply" break contracts. Contracts are a very important part of businesses and society in general. Of course, if someone hates the idea of working under NDA they are free to pursue a different career though they will find that NDA are present for the majority of jobs. They are in fact a big deal that you don't "simply" break.

Re: Sword And Shield Leakers Required To Pay The Pokémon Company $150K Each

MajinSoul

Serves them right and it's about time someone goes after leakers in general. People are so quick to dismiss these leaks because they have an agenda against GameFreak but breaking a NDA is breaking the law and it needs to have consequences if you want the legal system to work. You can't just make exceptions based on personal bias.

@Eel Nice one

Re: Video: The 21 Best NES Games Of All Time, As Rated By The Nintendo Life Community

MajinSoul

Pre-Switch I didn't have a high opinion of NES games but I have bought a couple of collections now like the Mega Man and Castlevania games plus I played a couple of the NSO offerings and my opinion on NES games has improved a lot nowadays. I still wouldn't want to play them without the save state feature as their age definitely shows but there are a lot more NES games that I enjoy nowadays than I used to in the past.

Re: Talking Point: Why Metroid Dread Will Be Worth $60

MajinSoul

I don't mind paying full price and I don't understand the thought process of 2D games having to cost less than 3D games.
I'll take a polished and fun 2D game with lots of replay value at full price over a 3D game that runs horrible on the Switch and stretches playtime with tedious and repetitive exploration in the third dimension at full price. In other words, there are good games in both, 2D and 3D.

Re: Hideki Kamiya Shares Irritation At Speculation Over Bayonetta 3

MajinSoul

I'm a pretty big fan of Platinum Games and Hideki Kamiya (usually) but he needs to understand that the whole Bayonetta 3 situation has been kind of messy. They announce the game and then have nothing to show for years while they pump out multiple other games. That just doesn't look promising from the outside

Re: Poll: What Did You Think Of Nintendo Direct At E3 2021?

MajinSoul

I went in with no expectations and now my wallet will be drained from all the games showcased in the direct. The second half of 2021 is stacked with awesome games for the Switch. Though it was disappointing to not see any mention of the NSO service whatsoever. Hopefully they make another direct in late summer and do something with it.

Re: Talking Point: Do You Replay Games?

MajinSoul

I used to replay games all the time as a kid. That was mostly due the lack of money to purchase new games so I was limited to presents and had to tide myself over with those. Nowadays, I only replay games that I really enjoy like the Souls games. I never re-read books though. I don't see the point really.
