I genuinely love all of Nintendo's hardware music in general. I would love it if the menus had some kind of tune. I'm not ashamed to admit, I've left the System Settings on my 3DS run in the background while I studied in college, or the Nighttime weather music on the Forecast Channel on the Wii.
Although I do hope its successful, I don't have high hopes of Monster Hunter Wilds coming to Nintendo systems. I think we'll be getting a timed Switch 2 exclusive entry in the future.
Until then, I'm still perfectly happy with Monster Hunter Rise.
I voted for a Diddy Kong Racing type of story mode, but really just want new tracks and just a kart selection without the wheels and glider customization.
Always makes me sad to see these things still happening, despite the measures taken to try and prevent it. Hopefully the community has enough sense to stay away from these listings. They could get in some real trouble if they aren't careful.
Nice! Really loved the music in this game. I've been happy with the last few additions to the app. Still don't understand why these additions are so slow. At least add 1 NES/Famicom soundtrack with each of these since those track lists are REALLY small!
I've been watching my wife play this on the PlayStation 5 while I play Super Mario Bros. Wonder on the Nintendo Switch. Seems like it would be a fun game for me down the road!
Happy to see it being available to more people! I really want to see their games succeed! I'm interested to see if this game will support cross-platform online multiplayer now. If so, my wife might opt in for the PlayStation version over a second copy of the Switch version.
It's a solid list of great games, but I don't know, this list should probably be longer and not in a placement order. Maybe in the order or release date instead of trying to give a game a meaningless placement over others since ALL of these games are worth playing today.
I think we still have a bit of a wait before we see Donkey Kong 64, but I can't see it not coming next year. Diddy Kong Racing will definitely be the next Rare game coming to NSO - N64.
Definitely not going to see anything this month. They're raking in the final holiday sales for the Nintendo Switch, and I just don't think there is enough in the pipeline to have another Nintendo Direct focused exclusively on the current hardware.
I mean, everyone is definitely allowed to do what they want with their money but it sounds like this particular reddit user was trying to prove a point (that is completely and utterly false at that) and not for his own enjoyment.
Gacha games are meant to be played over an extremely long period of time, in short bursts for the most part with daily missions to keep you engaged in very short bursts.
You don't blow all of your money and freebies all at once either. You stockpile your freebies for the events that make pulling the things you want or need 10 times easier.
Example: there is a mass outbreak of fire types going on right now on TCG Pocket for the next 5 days, and I have over 300 hourglasses saved up. Now I can finish the fire-type portion of my card dex at no cost, very easily and still have plenty of hourglasses left over for the next event or new set coming out.
You just have to be smart on where you are investing, how much and when to do it. Its not really that hard to avoid dumping a ton of money (if any) into these kind of games.
I enjoy just watching the event. There are definitely things that I would change about the show, but I still enjoy watching it every year, for what it is. Its nice to see video games and their creators celebrated. Just really wish it was more about them than the ads/trailers. Sadly, this isn't really the mindset for most fans.
I think his failure to respond is proof he doesn't have any kind of defense. He knows his life is pretty much over and he's likely hiding from authorities at this point to desperately "avoid" his sentence. Really sad to see these stories when all James had to do was buy Nintendo's content like the rest of us.
Although this legal battle is fascinating to watch, I feel frustrated because of their other projects that are much more clearly cloned variants of existing IPs, right down to the "art direction" that was very clearly done using AI.
No one talks about Craftopia or Never Grave, which are very clearly plagiarized Breath of the Wild and Hollow Knight, with tacked on elements for the sake of "technically not" the exact same game.
@-wc- Just for me personally, I'm not a collector, so I tend to play the market and upgrade with very little money outside of my initial investment in the hobby.
I also tend to only buy limited edition hardware, so that it retains or even exceeds its MSRP value as time goes on. So, most times I'm usually getting paid to upgrade from the previous console to the next.
So backwards compatibility, although not a deal breaker for me personally, expedites when I can upgrade, because now I don't have to finish all the Switch games I haven't bought and played yet, just have to wait for the next limited edition system to pre-order!
Its always sad to see the wind down of a great piece of hardware. I'm excited for the successor, but will admit I'm not in any hurry to upgrade it. I'm working through all the games Nintendo Life has recommended for the system and its an extremely long list, so I have no shortage of games to play on the current hardware.
I'm thinking maybe Holiday 2026 for me, provided the system is backwards compatible.
I'm almost more interested to see what support Nintendo Switch gets after the successor is already out.
I have an immense backlog on Switch and won't be upgrading until mid to late 2026 so I can catch up. The less that comes out for the original Switch, the better it is for me, lol.
I really like to stay positive when talking about video games, but I don't have an ounce of positivity for Ubisoft. There is no way this game, or Beyond Good & Evil 2 for that matter, is making it to store shelves or digital storefronts.
Sadly, Pokémon is in more of a "I want to be the very best" in its design and wants trainers/players to care more about stats, natures and battle viability over all else with their formula. This is so they can get more people involved socially and competitively instead of creating a truly great video game.
Often times, they end up forgetting to put the actual game part together in the mainline series, which should really be the most important aspect of the entire project. I find myself caring less and less with every entry, until Legends Arceus showed up. That spark burned out quickly when Scarlet and Violet released within the same year though. sigh
Sounds like a very Nintendo idea and not at all what I thought this was going to be. That said, this isn't a new "feature," as much as its a new software being added to the service in the future.
Kind of stinks that they didn't let people know outright what it was because I've already seen about 5% of the people that signed up see the leaks and aren't even going to test it.
I haven't really been following the leak. Its impossible to avoid the dark short stories, but the were more fascinating than anything else. It kind of cements the prospect that people and Pokémon just didn't know how to co-exist introduced in Pokémon Legends: Arceus. DYKG has been sharing the unused beta assets and Pokémon concepts for years anyway.
Anyway, I don't think there is a chance this will ultimately damage the brand that much. Parents are still going to buy Pokémon games and merchandise for their kids and be completely unaware of this. I mean, kids today are all about Skibidi Toilet, FNAF & Poppy's Playtime anyway. They're already exposed to much worse.
Right now, it really feels like we barely get any rights to digital items that we purchase. All terms of use and policy agreements are there for the benefit of the business and gives them 100% of the rights to both take our money and revoke their software at any point. There are no terms that tell you, "You have access to this software until 20XX." or any kind of transparency of how long we have access to the digital items we purchase.
I like the idea of being able to locally back up our purchased software, but I just have no idea how they should do it while protecting themselves from others distributing and sharing that software illegally online. Then again, their software is getting uploaded to the internet anyway, sometimes even before the game can actually be purchased and played, so is not providing that option really going to prevent that kind of damage? Is it even about piracy? Are they doing this just so 10 years later we'll have to purchase the game again on new hardware, or they just port it through a subscription service to make it more enticing?
I don't know what the right answer is, nor is it my responsibility to know that. As a consumer though, I want to know what I'm putting my money into, and how I'll be able to access it in the distant future if I want to replay it again and that information doesn't seem to be around, so I end up still buying physical media because its just safer.
NES Remix is such a wonderful idea that really needs another chance on Nintendo Switch. Would be a dream announcement for me in future Nintendo Directs!
This will have a very small audience since they did very little to translate this project. Nice to see for the sake of having it available, but definitely not for everyone. (myself included)
Definitely not how I obtained Mew. Instead we had Pokemon League events every Saturday morning at our local Toys R Us. I remember getting an Official League book, earning badge pins and whatnot by playing the VGC and TCG, but when the Mew distribution happened the event was different that day. No Pokemon cards were allowed during this event. It was strictly a battle competition with Red and Blue, I can't remember if Yellow was out just yet. You didn't have to win necessarily but you had to get enough points on a Mew card to redeem it. You got 10 points for every match you participated in, and another 20 points on top of if you won the match.
It was really cool to me this way. I felt like I earned that Pokemon when I got it and met some new friends along the way. I also think the first few kids to reach the point goal got a Holographic Mew promo card. I wasn't quite good enough to get that prize though. (or didn't arrive early enough, haha)
I don't really care too much about a physical release, I just want to play it again. Tiger-Heli was a game that I played with my dad on the NES all the time. Hopefully the digital version isn't too expensive for what it is.
Like most of the community, it doesn't sound realistic to have a Nintendo Direct this summer. I wouldn't be surprised if we see a Nintendo Treehouse for Pikmin 4 though.
They really need to promote that game now and I feel like it's getting lost in the shadow of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.

I'm hoping if they do end up implementing this, its something that you can just toggle on/off. I think its fine as an optional setting.
