It's all starting to finally catch up to him. I've never liked Yuji Naka as a person, despite his accomplishments in the industry. He's often credited as the "creator of Sonic," but Naoto Oshima was the one that designed Sonic as a hedgehog and Hirokazu Yasuhara was the one that designed all the levels of the first game.
He was so butt-hurt about not getting the credit he felt he deserved for the idea, that he actually left SEGA to join Mark Cerny at the American branch to make Sonic 2. The artist for Sonic 2, Craig Stitt described working with him. He said, "Naka was an arrogant pain in the ass."
I mean, I don't really want to go back to this kingdom again, but if they wanted to go off to a new continent with this era's Link and Zelda, that would be far more interesting.
I really don't want to tread this era's Hyrule for a 4th time. (Yes, I am counting Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity. It has all of the same key areas of Breath of the Wild and uses the exact same map.)
Then again, let's not lie to ourselves. If Nintendo said they were doing this again, most of the Legend of Zelda fanbase, myself included, would still be there at the midnight launch.
They... They look like Dragons. When I first saw them in the final trailer, I immediately knew they were dragons. Not once did I think they looked like anything else, haha.
Eh, there are plenty of ways to not spend full retail on video games out there now for to impact me too much. If you want to save money on games, stop pre-ordering and wait. Shop around a little bit. See if a deal pops up.
I fully expected to use game vouchers on Tears of the Kingdom to save $20 on it and $10 on another game, and then I ended up finding a way to grab it the day it came out physically for $17.93 USD.
I was so sad to hear that announcement at the beginning of the podcast. The Nintendo Power podcast was one of my favorite things to listen to when I had work to do in my office. I'll definitely miss it.
Any other Nintendo focused podcasts recommendations?
I think I'm with the majority on this one. I don't think this is referring to the Switch's successor. The marketing for a second hybrid console modelled close to Switch is already going to be a nightmare for Nintendo with so many iterations of the Nintendo Switch on the market today.
To release a system with no OLED screen would make the system feel inferior to what is already out now to the average consumer. If I know this, I have a hard time believing Nintendo doesn't see it too.
Really excited for this news! Can't wait to get this game after I wrap up Fire Emblem Engage this weekend! ...And then completely playthrough Metroid Prime Remastered for the first time... and then finally play the Breath of the Wild DLC that my wife surprised me with on Valentine's Day...
These were definitely before my time, but I would love to have a chance to play these games in their original form on a device that can mostly give me that 80s experience.
I've eyed the Mario and Zelda devices but they aren't Game & Watch titles.
I'm just imagining Aksys Games pitching this to Nintendo for their next Direct, and Nintendo has to decline because they always say the full official title of a game at least 3 times while they talk about it.
Looking forward to what he does in the future. Listening to the Link's Awakening remake soundtrack in my office now. He'll have no problems finding his next perfect role.
I'm really happy to see her return. I think she does a great job as the character. I would personally be disappointed if she was re-cast. I feel there would be heavy criticism if the situation was reversed and she was re-cast, so neither side has a leg to stand on in this argument, haha. Glad I'm able to stay on the positive side of the fence on this one!
Ocarina of Time was my first time getting my hands on the Master Sword. I did go back later and play A Link to the Past on the SNES. I had to grow up a little bit more to really get into games like The Legend of Zelda.
I remember reading about this finally coming over here in the west in an issue of Nintendo Power. My parents surprised me by getting it for me for my birthday. I spent many car and bus rides playing and replaying this game. I really enjoyed it and will forever be sad that we never got the Binding Blade officially over here in the west.
@Nanami_Ataraxia Thank you for posting this. I'm not a smoker myself, but have seen my share of people trying to quit and its an intense process that no individual should have to go through. It's very disrespectful and ignorant to lump all of them into a negative stereotype when there are many ways and reasons to get wrapped in this addiction.
Back to the ad itself. I absolutely hate it and there is no way Nintendo isn't seeking to have it taken down as I typed this.
I think the Wii Classic Controller Pro was my favorite controller Nintendo put out. It was affordable, had a great D-Pad for Classic games, the same analog stick placement that I love on Dualshock controllers and it was very light weight. The only downside is that it had to be connected to a Wii Remote. Really wish they could have made it a standalone controller.
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is still an entry in the series that feels like a Zelda game. I think the term “Traditional” really just means “Formulaic” and Zelda has followed a formula for decades before deciding to deviate from it.
You can’t really compare Final Fantasy and The Legend of Zelda too much as Final Fantasy has lost all sense of its original identity as a franchise, while The Legend of Zelda has retained its entire identity. All the Zelda series really did was move away from the formulaic design and leaned more into the exploration and adventure aspect the games were originally known for in its earlier years. Final Fantasy has completely changed genres, story tones, and as of XVI, is going to be the first rated M game in the franchise’s history. Quite different from the Train Suplex of Final Fantasy VI. lol
I still have so much catching up on the Switch, there is no way I’m going to be ready in time before this game releases! Hopefully I won’t have to wait too long after release before I can play it.
I never saw the original poll so I'll put my two cents in here.
My favorite Zelda Aesthetic is Wind Waker, so that version of Ganondorf is my personal favorite. I think Wind Waker has the most of that "Nintendo Charm" to me on a visual level. I also think the battle with Ganondorf in Wind Waker was one of the most memorable moments in the Zelda franchise for me.
@Olrun I have to agree. Tera Raids don't even function well in the first place, and that really makes this feel even more like a chore unfortunately. The only one I went out of my way to do were for the new Paradox Pokémon.
I have all of the other Tera Raid event Pokémon available to me in a box on Pokémon Home, just waiting for that Home update.
I know I'm late, but I spent my weekend playing Fire Emblem Engage mostly. That game took until about Chapter 8 before it finally hooked me. Once you unlock more units and activities in The Somniel, it really shines. There are so many great ideas here that I can see myself spending a couple hundred hours invested in all the mechanics and a few runs on higher difficulties.
Just too many games to get around to so not picking it up just yet. I've added it to my wishlist. Might pick it up with Tears of the Kingdom with my next batch of Game Vouchers!
Dragon Warrior was one of those games that were 10 cents at every yard sale in the 90s, so it seems harmless.
That said, I really do hate to see this kind of thing happen even with such a common cartridge. Eventually, it will have an impact on it's availability to those that want it and I really dislike the individual for contributing to that inevitable future.
My first Final Fantasy game was none of the above! It was Final Fantasy: Mystic Quest. It was marketed as a perfect RPG for beginners and a friend recommended it to me.
I bought it pre-owned and fell in love with it and the soundtrack was absolutely incredible. I then borrowed Final Fantasy II (IV) from that same friend and the rest is history.
Really disappointing to see that no major changes have been made to stabilize this game in any meaningful way. As a massive fan that's been there since Day 1 in North America, its very sad to see that TPC, Nintendo and Game Freak can't seem to understand how much damage this really does to all of their brands.
I really liked the new direction Pokémon was headed, but if this is the level of quality to expect from one of the most expensive hobbies a person could get into... I see it caving into itself.
My 11 year old nephew skipped out on the Diamond and Pearl remakes because he didn't like the way they looked and was really sad when he got Violet for Christmas and it turned out like this. I don't even think he wants to have anything to do with the franchise anymore and I don't blame him.
@Pillowpants I completely agree with this. 3D World also felt like it had overall better level design since every stage was focused on a core design concept. 3D World's co-op is wonderful and the game's overall design makes it work very well!
@DiggleDog This is the only real take away anyone should have with Scarlet & Violet. There really is no excuse at this point for these games to perform so poorly. This is the BIGGEST franchise on the Nintendo Switch and it can't even lock-in at 30FPS for a stable experience? Unreal.
Meanwhile, you have Bayonetta 3, a game that should struggle on the Switch, and it's wonderfully optimized for the system and looks fantastic.
I think Aquatic Ambiance from Donkey Kong Country is just my all time favorite Nintendo track. I still listen to that song and can't believe it came from my Super Nintendo when I was 7 years old.
I don't think they would ever do it, but it would be cool if Capcom made an All-in-One Mega Man Ultimate Legacy Collection with all the current collections in one huge 35th Anniversary Box Set and all games on physical media with no download codes. I think that would be pretty rad.

Mega Man 11 was really great, and I think Street Fighter 6 is going to be an amazing high note for him to leave on. Wishing him the best!

Re: Save Big On Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom With This GameStop Trade-In Offer (US)
Wow, I might have to do this instead. The Last of Us Remastered on PS4 and original Pokemon Moon on 3DS are way under a $50 resell value. That's wild

Not getting it right away, but as soon as I possibly can!
Also going digital with the Game Vouchers to save $30 USD!

4. Urbosa
