Re: Poll: So, Will You Be Getting The Legend Of Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom?

Judal27

I don't call myself a huge Zelda fan for nothing. Im still not fully convinced but it's either this or wait basically another half decade for a new one

After this though, I really hope they move on from this sandbox build your own adventure type thing they're going for and just make a Zelda similar in structure to older Zeldas but in an open world

Re: Soapbox: Torna - The Golden Country Is One Of The Best DLCs Of All Time

Judal27

@Takoda lol I was a bit shocked too at the high praise. I mean it was being nominated for goty where 2 and especially 1 weren't. In terms of the story, I just don't think 7 chapters is long enough to tell the kind of story 3 was going for. And so it tells an extremely safe story to the point of being very bland. Not a good way to cap off a saga. The sad part is, that I would've liked nothing more than to just enjoy 3 as much as I did the other 2 but I didn't

I don't think XB3's DLC will salvage 3 for me. But I do want to see this supposed Klaus Saga through to the end so I'm gonna pick this DLC up for sure despite how I feel about 3. Not sure if I'll ever go back to the main game though

Re: Soapbox: Torna - The Golden Country Is One Of The Best DLCs Of All Time

Judal27

I never got around to it cause it's a prequel and XB2s story was its biggest weakness. And I feel like this should've mostly been integrated into main game to help flesh it out more rather than some of the filler we ended up getting instead

But honestly, XB3 didn't really give me the Xenoblade goodness I craved unfortunately. So I've been very tempted to pick this up now cause even with it's flaws, XB2 was fantastic. More of the same can only be a good thing. I just wish I had picked up the physical copy instead

Re: Talking Point: What Is A 'Traditional' Zelda Game, Anyway?

Judal27

@JohnnyMind I agree on a lot of these points, aptly put. I'm very curious how they're gonna handle the story and ToTKs version of Divine Beasts. The thing about BotWs story is that it really didn't need to focus so much on the past. A few cutscenes at the beginning where you meet the king and impa would have sufficed and if people wanted additional context and lore, the memory hunt would have been a good way for them to expand upon the past. But instead they chose to entirely focus on the past, where even clearing Divine Beasts just led to more cutscenes about the past. This just made the present story weaker. But now that we know about the past, I'm curious to see how TotK will handle it's story. Will it be a more straight forward story with cool set pieces like the older games, now that they can't really use the memory hunt structure?

Same with the DBs. We've already explored them and got rid of the blight inside, so what's gonna replace BotWs version of dungeons in TotK?

Re: Talking Point: What Is A 'Traditional' Zelda Game, Anyway?

Judal27

Personally I don't understand people that say BotW isn't a Zelda, much less the people that say FFXVI isn't a Final Fantasy

I wouldn't call it traditional or that this is what constitutes a Zelda game, but what I've come to expect from Zelda, after playing basically all of them, are: unique dungeons, many different enemies, diverse puzzles, rewarding exploration and side quests, great story set pieces, and a way less ambient soundtrack. I just didn't get that from BotW. And the thing is, some of the older games don't even have all of that. But BotW managed to have basically none of them

Re: Poll: Which Was Your First 'Final Fantasy'?

Judal27

It was FF tactics but at the time I didn't really know about the series or anything about it as a kid. I just liked that I was moving knights and wizards around on tiles and attacking the enemy forces. But my first start knowing what a final fantasy is, was 3 and I've been a huge fan ever since with each entry I play

Re: Poll: Breath Of The Wild Vs. Tears Of The Kingdom - Which Final Zelda Trailer Was Better?

Judal27

I liked BotWs trailer more cause I prefer the grand orchestral sound the series is known for. And altho the game is absolutely nothing like the trailer, it gave off a sense of urgency and/or despair. Hyrule castle town was being raided and destroyed by Ganon and the sheikah machines turned against them, Link and Zelda running away battle damaged, Link almost being on death's bed, and Zelda unable to awaken her power to prevent any of this

Meanwhile, TotK's trailer more gives off that typical avengers 'everyone is here' feeling where everyone is now standing up to ganondorf equipped with a jazzy version of the main theme and everything

Re: Talking Point: Should Link Have Voice Acting In The Next Zelda Game?

Judal27

If the voice work was good I wouldn't mind it but botws and to a certain extent totks voice acting aren't exactly the definition of good

But I'm already used to and really like the many silent reincarnations of link. It'd have to be REALLY good acting. Like something out of Witcher 3 or Final Fantasy 16. If it was like Xenoblade 2 or 3, I'd only be wishing I was deaf

Re: Poll: What Did You Make Of Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom's Final Trailer?

Judal27

It was a good trailer but so was botws 2017 presentation trailer and that burned me pretty hard. So I'm definitely wary of this one. Will there be a bunch more of those cool looking bosses or are those literally it? Just like how botw only had the like 5 bosses it revealed in trailers. Stuff like that I'm wondering

But the trailer made it go from definitely not playing day 1 to maybe. I've got a month to decide at least

Re: Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom Trailer Gets Creative With Vehicle Building, Fused Weapons

Judal27

Damn I was really hoping this would be what makes me excited but the sky islands they've shown so far just look like the akkala region but it's broken up into pieces and it's in the air. And I despise that foggy washed out look over the world so much. I know it was to be expected but I wish they'd remove it, it just makes the game look so ugly with muted colors

Hopefully they show more interesting varied areas cause this was kinda boring to watch

Re: Talking Point: Which Is Your Favourite 3DS Theme?

Judal27

My favorite is a custom Xenoblade 2 theme that came with a really cool artwork and one of my favorite pieces of music from the game. I just can't go back to official themes anymore

But when I did use official themes, my favorite and the one I kept almost permanently on was the Zelda 30th Anniversary theme. By far my favorite version of that song. I'd stay on the home screen for a good while just listening to that

Re: Talking Point: Which Nintendo Console Has The Best First-Party Games Lineup?

Judal27

Idk maybe it's nostalgia speaking but gamecube literally has 2 of the best Zeldas, the 2 N64 Zeldas, one of the best FEs, it has the best 3D Mario, THE paper mario, THE luigis mansion, most of the metroid prime games, and 2 of the greatest pokemon RPGs

I can go on, Fzero, AC, Pikmin, Kirby Air ride. Damn... I really miss GameCube era Nintendo

Re: Video: With 100 Days To Go, What Do You Want To See In Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom?

Judal27

I mean I don't know how much more it can be said but it really needs way more dungeons that are all different to each other and way more enemy variety. Bring back some actual music to the game. Maybe the ambient music works in some areas but having most of the game feature that was awful. There's a reason I would idle around great fairies

Personally I'd love if they could give link some combos or just more attack animations in general for combat. I don't need full on Nioh style combat, but watching Link do light jabs at mobs with the spear was one of the mundane things I've ever witnessed. And the other type of weapons weren't any better. Make better side quests. I don't want to shoot down some girls balloon for rupees nor fetch some ingredients for people to cook. Even Majora's mask had better side content and that was an N64 game. There's a lot more I want to see in a sequel to an open world Zelda, but realistically none of this is happening going by the trailers lol

Re: Talking Point: 15 Years On, Should Super Smash Bros. Brawl's Subspace Emissary Return?

Judal27

SSE is easily the best smash story mode. It had everything, a decent little 2d platformer through ninty series with actual mob enemies, boss fights that aren't just playable characters in a powered up state, fun cutscenes with character interactions. And combine it with Smash's addicting trophy collectibles plus stickers. It was great

4 didn't have a story mode. And Ultimate's is lame. It has cool boss fights again but now you could fight those in classic mode anyway too. The few cutscenes it has are short and amount to nothing. The gameplay is just fight after fight against playable characters so it doesn't have anything unique going for it. The only good thing that came out of it was that really short fight where you actually control the hands. More of that wouldve been great but they didn't do much with the single player content for Ultimate

Re: Talking Point: Do We Need Another Pokémon Mystery Dungeon On Switch?

Judal27

Yes it deserves another game but please make it go back to being a guild wanting to explore new areas and rescuing pokemon. And the main heroes learned through experience.

I haven't finished it yet but Super Mystery Dungeon putting you as a child that literally goes to school to learn this stuff, just didn't gel with me at all. It felt like a group of 1st graders with the dialogue especially when it involved the bully. I feel like the Rescue Team/Explorers entries had more nuance to it

Re: Poll: Do You Want Weapon Degradation To Return In Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom?

Judal27

Terrible poll options. Do away with it but keep the different weapons or make them way more durable and repairable. It just wasn't fun smacking goblins for a few hits before it breaks, and it gets especially worse when the enemies become HP sponges but every weapon, including endgame weapons, break almost as fast as early game weapons. And the weapons those mobs always carry around with them are such low tier weapons. Not to mention, they look lame af lol

It also makes finding weapons with rare stats like atk up pointless cause they're gonna disappear in like 10 hits anyway. What was the point of that little system

Re: Talking Point: In 2023, Do You Still Care About amiibo?

Judal27

Never cared for them and I'm glad at the very least they seem to be useless now in terms of functionality

I will forever be salty that I had to settle for makeshift hero's clothes or the awful hero of the wild set while playing BotW, instead of being able to use TP link's or Skyward Sword Link's clothes unless I bought the amiibos. Hopefully that stays a thing of the past

Re: Round Up: The Reviews Are In For Fire Emblem Engage

Judal27

The story and characters in relation to the permadeath tactical gameplay is what makes me love FE. Without that well written story or at least some engaging characters, it's like Engage is missing the other half of what makes FE, FE

Really hoping this isn't the start of a downward trend for the series

Re: Fire Emblem Engage Anime-Like Opening Cinematic Surfaces Online

Judal27

I'm stunned at how different this FE looks compared to past entries. Almost every one of them has had a great anime art style thats never gone overboard yet this opening only reinforces just how much this game is peak "anime cringe" for lack of a better term

The song sounds awful in English lol. Clearly the song was meant to be sung in Japanese, I don't know why they absolutely must dub a song too

Re: Talking Point: As Zelda: Wind Waker Turns 20, Doesn't Toon Link Deserve A Second Chance?

Judal27

Yes please, I adore wind waker, minish cap and phantom hourglass. The worlds in them are just so rich, vibrant and colorful. I love the character and monster designs and they all give a true sense of adventure unlike most of the other Zeldas even if they're still amazing games in their own right

Tbh I always thought they were gonna alternate between the normal style in ocarina and twilight princess and the toon style for home console Zelda but they ended up just making the rest of the toon link games handheld.
