Re: Talking Point: Do You Play Zelda Games For The Story?

Judal27

Yea its a very big reason I loved the series in the 1st place. They're not written like jrpgs or something like the Witcher, but they still have plenty of character moments and just overall world building and lore that are well worth getting invested in. And its only part of a whole, that makes it all work. Wind waker's bloody unskippable intro always gets me hyped despite the fact. But the whole set piece of the bird taking links sister away, seeing how he reacted to it, having to get the shield from the poor grandma that has to see her 2 grandkids taken away so quick as link sets off to go save his sister. I don't think these games would be as amazing without the compelling stories they usually have

And I say usually cuz this switch era of Zelda has been the worst especially in terms of story. I can see ignoring the story in botw and totk because the games themselves already ignore their non existent stories themselves 🤷. Those 2 are quite literally my go to for when i just want to shut off my brain and mindlessly wander around a world for stuff

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (18th April)

Judal27

I think I rolled the credits for Pokopia last night. What a great game that was. Still gonna be playing for the full pokedex and habitat dex

I'm 40hrs deep into Xenogears, sometimes it can feel very archaic but it's so fun more often than not. And I love the characters so much

I'm gonna keep exploring in Pokemon Scarlet. It's kinda overwhelming. I've been stuck in the 1st few areas for awhile making sure I caught everything there. I found my 1st shiny but it was a mudbray lol

Re: Review: Pokémon Champions (Switch) – The Most Accessible & Flawed Competitive Pokémon Has Ever Been

Judal27

It's alright but im no competitive pokemon player. I find myself fighting more bots than humans which you can tell by the trainer appearance and the fact they let you win so easily. Once it's a real player, it's sorta a gamble which I usually lose. You can see the pokemon they have but you don't know what 3 they'll pick, so a lot of times I end up getting the wrong type match ups. And I don't know enough atm about specific natures, abilities, stats etc to counter that

My 2 praises are that you can play with different music from the series which hopefully is expanded on as it goes, and that moves look better. It's kinda embarrassing that colosseum and xd, hell even stadium, still have the better pokemon animations, but at least moves look pretty cool

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (4th April)

Judal27

Honestly I still have an insane case of pokerus cause pokemons been taking the majority of my playtime. I joined a family plan to play pokemon xd thru nso lol. It's been worth it tho, as much as I'd rather own them, having access to these games is neat

Still going with pokopia, I think im nearing the credits but I'm absolutely going for complete pokedex and habitat dex so it'll last me a while yet

Pokerus hit me so bad I actually bought pokemon scarlet. I went the entire switch 1 gen not even being remotely interested in touching the series after how they handled sword and shield. But the feeling of nostalgia was strong lol. And honestly im glad I did, it's been great fun so far. I made it to the school where it opens up and it made me genuinely excited. The world can absolutely look horrendous even with the S2 update, but there are times when the game just looks so cool. And honestly running around in an open world seeing pokemon roam around and catching them is stuff I've been dreaming about since I was a kid. Even if its not perfect, I'm very looking forward to tackling all the content in this game

Re: Community: Which Switch 1 Games Benefit Most From Switch 2's New Boost Mode?

Judal27

I can't really tell so far unless I do a quick on and off comparison. The most notable difference has been xenoblade 2 but that's still significantly blurry and pixelated but it looked horrendous without the boost. Smash and monster hunter gu felt the same as when I'd play them handheld on switch 1. Hopefully FE 3 houses and skyward sword have a difference

Re: "It Probably Went Too Far" - Even Bananza's Creators Think One Transformation Is Overpowered

Judal27

Idk for it to be too much or op, there had to have been some level of challenge to break with it but there really isnt. If anything its weird how they dont do that much unique things with it. The other transformations added changes, even if some slight, in how you approach some levels and "challenges" but elephant didn't. Its even more apparent in its post game challenge where you had to mostly just throw rocks. Something the kong bananza already does and better. I guess they couldn't think of anything to do with its ability to suck lava lol. It was a fun transformation but i gravitated more towards the others especially snake which has the better tune

Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Pokémon Pokopia?

Judal27

@DylanMcGrann they can always improve it from the other 2 games and or make it more pokemonish with the weakness types and non combat moves but granted im not thinking of a deep intricate combat system. But as it stands, and again I'm still way early on, it already has a pp system that does literally nothing. From the very beginning you get access to berries that restore it and it gives you good chunks of it. Combat can make this system a little more involved, and personally I think itd just enhance exploration. Finding some mons out in the fields that are aggressive and can be recruited thru battling would just be another thing to set out for and again it just makes sense in the world of pokemon even within this game that's about building and restore their world

Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Pokémon Pokopia?

Judal27

Why don't you guys do this a week after a release like push square lol. Anyway, I do still need to feel what the gameplay loop is like further in the game. So far, as much as I'm loving the game and would love to give it a higher score, it's about an 8 or 8.5. The one thing I can't help feel like is missing to make it perfect is combat. DQ Builders literally has it, idk why the team decided not to have it. It makes sense for pokemon, even within the premise of this game. Considering ur out here discovering pokemon maybe some of them could be hostile or require you to calm them down by beating them to a pulp lol

And my other issue is that only a certain amount of pokemon can be out roaming around. I guess it was too taxing for them but even then surely they could've made it so more than 20ish pokemon per area are roaming around. Like ur probably missing out on some of the admittedly funny dialog and interactions and you wouldn't even know

Other than that, it's fun making homes for pokemon and slowly making the world come to life and look nice and pretty. The interactions are cute. It's fun to explore and increase ur pokedex and environment level. The little tidbits of lore and journals you find around the world are actually so good and quite dark lmao. Looking forward to continuing

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (7th March)

Judal27

Finally finished the main game for DK Bananza. As much as I thoroughly enjoyed it, man do I wish it had the same energy and creativity that it had in the last 4 or 5 layers. Gonna finish up all the post game content, some of which amped up the difficulty so much lol

Also started Pokopia, its been a lot more fun than I expected building the different habitats and seeing all sorts of pokemon pop up. And am now in the process of trying to make slowpoke yawn 😂

Still making my way thru Nioh 3. This is likely my goty so far. Ive adored every area in terms of exploration and level design. It hasn't slowed down yet

And last, still slowly making my way thru MH Stories 1. Knocking out all the side quests with my black diablos before I leave the desert

Re: Poll: So, Will You Be Getting Pokémon Pokopia?

Judal27

I actually ended up buying despite the reveal trailer doing absolutely nothing for me. But something about the 30th anniversary got me in a pokemon mood plus the great reviews comparing it to dq builders, and now I'm glad I did. It's been pretty fun so far

Re: Pokémon FireRed And LeafGreen Officially Revealed For Switch

Judal27

@RiasGremory 1 singular rom is not worth 20. Capcom knows this, square knows this, hell even sega and konami know this. Even the most egregious example being the megaman bn collection that got a bit of flak for being 60. Still included every version of the games that were split, new unlockables, and added online. And now goes on sale for the same exact $20 so often it might as well be its actual retail price. This 1 singular rom literally doesn't even have multiple languages to choose from, you have to buy it separately. It does not have online play, and as far as the description on the eshop goes, has added absolutely nothing else to it besides a function for Home. But yes I agree your examples are just as much of a scam

Re: Poll: What's Your Favourite Gen 5 Pokémon?

Judal27

Personally many of the designs are ugly but I still loved this gen so much. It was an incredible experience. And it has my 2nd favorite legendary reshiram so thats my pick lol. There's just something majestic about it and it's shiny form is subtle but adds so much to an already amazing design

Re: 13 Switch Emulators Hit By Latest Wave Of Nintendo Takedowns

Judal27

Genuinely doesn't matter when they're already out there

And I always get a kick out of people making this a moral fight. As long as we have the files of the game stored in our pcs able to be played at any time, that's literally preservation. Couldn't care less if that's correct or unjust, piracy, legal or illegal especially in the age where youre literally being told ur renting a license, not buying a game lol. They're being preserved on my pc and that's what matters to me. Being able to do it for recent games, still being sold, does not change that. But already there's more than enough reason to do so, seeing as people have been begging for switch 2 patches for the xenoblade games when they've been playable at higher frames and resolution thru emulators for a while now lol

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (14th February)

Judal27

Nioh 3, I adore this game so much. It's open world absolutely works and each time I find a new area I look forward to exploring just as much as I do the combat. Finding the maze like level designs of 1 and 2 while out exploring cemented that I knew I was gonna love this game

I'm also playing MH Stories 1 alongside. The demo for 3 really got me excited to finally get into this series, having had this 1st game in my backlog for years lol. So far you can really tell it's a 3ds game 😂. But it's really fun. Just taking my sweet time completing quests, hatching new mons, and progressing the game

And last, still slowly but surely chugging away at DK Bananza. I feel like im about halfway done but I can't say for sure. This new layer I'm in has a really fun level gimmick tho so I'm enjoying it a lot

Re: Preview: Dizzying Detail, Fluctuating Frames - A Good Look At 'Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection'

Judal27

@Pillowpants that it doesn't have the convenience of digital while having almost none of the boons of physical beyond being able to pass it on. And while that's a plus, it's not one that people who have an issue with key cards in the 1st place can really take advantage of. So in a way, a key card has no positives whatsoever. Basically that there's a lot of reason to not go physical when it comes to key cards anymore and that it makes sense if someone says they'll buy a digital copy, be it from any of the 4 platforms, cause the game is a key card

Re: Preview: Dizzying Detail, Fluctuating Frames - A Good Look At 'Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection'

Judal27

@Pillowpants I doubt the vast majority, if not all, of the people that have an issue with key cards are looking to sell them in the 1st place. The issues stem from being a fake physical that functions more like a digital copy but without its convenience. It requires an internet download to even function the 1st time and for any time you have to redownload it, and takes up storage regardless vs an actual cartridge

Re: Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds Fails To Meets Sega's Expectations

Judal27

Genuinely how is selling faster than your previous game not meeting your expectations, get a grip Sega or don't use paramount ips

As for the whole sonic vs mario. I've actually been enjoying mkw more than I was in the beginning. But between it, sonic and kirby. Sonic crossworlds is still easily my favorite one. Drifting just does not feel as good in mario kart. I hate the long arch it does while in sonic it's quick and snappy. Tracks are more fun, the music is so underrated but being able to race with songs from the series is legendary

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (31st January)

Judal27

Mopping up side quests in the original Trails in the Sky before continuing on chapter 3. Im pretty close to the end it seems and its been every bit of a masterpiece that Zero was, idk which I like more

Also making progress in the Nioh 3 demo. The series has not let me down and so far between the demos, 3 isn't stopping that trend. I'm very excited to see the full games open areas. Still not super keen on splitting up samurai and ninja but I'm getting used to it

And lastly making more progress in DK Bananza. I've now 100%'d around 8 layers. And my opinion mostly remains the same, it's so good when it wants to be smart about how you go getting bananas. But for a lot of them, it goes the Odyssey route and simply puts them in easy spots with not much platforming, puzzle solving, and just having an actual objective to get to it beyond smashing rocks for literally the millionth time lol

Re: Japanese Charts: Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade Emerges Victorious In A Quiet Week

Judal27

@JTurner it hasnt sold out in Japan and you can see it in this very chart that shows you how much stock is left so they also didnt make too little physical

And this comparison between the ps5 and switch 2 versions is very flawed when you consider just how many factors the ps5 version had going against it. Some which you have pointed out in your 2nd post, but is still downplaying the huge difference in installbases. The ps5 version also went on to get a new edition thats priced similarly to the switch 2 version and sold a further 14k+, which in this weeks chart, would place it at number 1 too. As far as i can tell from the internet, japan still favors physical for nintendo, so personally these sales are ok at best. The switch 2 had the bigger potential to sell more and ended up selling 3k more than a port that sold for $60 to a significantly smaller base, that had other ways to access intergrade beyond just straight up buying the ps5 port
