Re: Talking Point: Would You Prefer 'Super Mario Odyssey 2' Or A Totally New 3D Mario?

Judal27

Either an Odyssey 2 with more intricacy to it than
just stomp this hump on the ground for free moon x100 of these types of little puzzles spread throughout the worlds. Way more variety in bosses, those bunnies were the lamest ever. And more challenging platforming levels cause the last level on the dark side of the moon wasn't anywhere near enough nor challenging

Or a new 3d Mario with said improvements. But really the dream wish would be a sequel to Sunshine. That game deserved and still deserves it

Re: Talking Point: What's Your Favourite Music Track From A Nintendo Game?

Judal27

You are asking the impossible picking just one lol.
I know you said you'd pick the 1st one if multiple choices so I'll just go with Engage the Enemy from Xenoblade but I love Where We Used To Be from Xenoblade 2 just as much

So many utterly fantastic songs in those 2 games tho it's so hard to just pick one from them nevermind having to pick from all of nintys 1st party. FE and Zelda also have great soundtracks

Re: Poll: So, What’s Your Verdict On The Mario Movie Trailer?

Judal27

It just looks like a standard illumination movie with a Mario skin on it. That's not a bad thing but unless you love all things illumination or just these tropey 3d movies from your usual dreamworks, pixar, etc. in general, I fail to see how this looks amazing. Definitely the kind of movie you watch with friends and family just cause it's dumb fun from your usual 3d animation studios

Mario still looks uncanny to me with the weirdly rendered head and being a little more expressive than video games ever allowed him to be

Re: Talking Point: What On Earth Is Going On With Square Enix?

Judal27

And yet when they release a Chocobo GP or publish a Balan Wonderworld, people immediately go to paint them as a shell of their former self and how they'll probably go under

They've always been great and that still hasn't changed as far as I can tell. Every company has their duds. But certainly, this stretch of constant releases is pretty insane for any one company. Especially since the vast majority of them look great

Re: The New Fire Emblem Hero Was Created By A VTuber Designer

Judal27

Terrible character designs, what seems to be integrating past MCs into the story which really only works as gameplay or dlc otherwise you get god awful fan service stories like the FE Warriors stories, and some pretty laughable dialogue?

Sounds like this one's gonna rival FE Fates as one of the worst FEs in terms of story

Re: Talking Point: What Did You Think Of The September 2022 Nintendo Direct?

Judal27

I liked it if only because it gave me lots of multiplats to look forward to on PS5 lmao. Now if Sony's state of play can deliver at least one more cool announcement, I'm a happy camper for today

In terms of ninty exclusives, I don't like Fire Emblems new art style but I love fire emblem so I feel obligated to play it anyway. Still not much to think about with Zelda when they showed absolutely nothing at all so yea...

Re: Talking Point: What Was Your First Legend Of Zelda Game?

Judal27

I'm pretty sure it was the 1st game but I was young so I didn't exactly make a lot of progress in that confusing over world lol. But I loved it anyway and it ended up one of my favorite series of all time and still is. I'm hoping they fix everything that made BotW so disappointing with the sequel as that's seemingly the only Zelda to look forward to within the next decade

Re: Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Is July's Best-Selling Switch Game In NPD Results

Judal27

@Ralizah maybe so, for some reason the war between keves and agnus just isn't clicking with me like the one in xb1 did. And that's especially disappointing because the worlds of 1 and 2 at war just sounds so good on paper. I'd say 3's conflict feels a little more artificial at the start because they just throw you into it without anything to go on other than the mcs tired of it. It wouldve been nice to have a little more world building cause I feel completely oblivious rn despite knowing some things from the other 2 games, but maybe it'll be like xb2 where it throws explanations left and right towards the end. But I'm still enjoying trekking along for the most part. The characters are getting a little more interesting than their designs let on. I'm invested enough where I absolutely do want to see where this story goes from here. But I think the beginning is a lot weaker overall than both 1 and 2

@Beaucine I have no doubt the story will eventually unveil the mystery surrounding moebius as it goes on. But there's a certain level of mystery a story should have at the beginning where you're kept in the dark from some things to reveal as twists later and still have enough for the you and the characters to have a little understanding of what their goal is and the antagonists why they're pushing back. XB3, I think keeps you way too much in the dark to where the characters' journey can feel sort of aimless. And 3 chapters in still feels like it's not moving closer to the truth. And with 1 and 2... idk they just had perfect starts lol. The way both of those games thrust their fairly regular MCs into their journeys with a clear goal just hit a lot harder and made sense, while still keeping it vague enough to keep the mystery going

Re: Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Is July's Best-Selling Switch Game In NPD Results

Judal27

@Beaucine I'm not sure if you've played 1 before but it does that villain being self aware thing a whole lot better thru metal face and part of why i think it's not done well in 3 is because, at least 3 chapters in, there's no real explanation given to neither the characters in game nor the players on why they're doing what they're doing despite one of them just randomly showing up to casually tell the group yea we're enemies and attacks them. I'd try to go a little more in depth but I don't know how without spoiling and I'm not even done with the game myself so things could change later on

@Ralizah metal face does cackle yea lol, but he serves an entirely different purpose to the story than these consuls that just show up to display their cockiness and quickly lose right after so far. He is a primary antagonist but in general it's the mechons as a whole that are the antagonists during the beginning

And they're a complete mystery, just these mechanical creatures that terrorize humans and thats pretty much all the players and the characters know about them. They're treated more a force of nature than an actual group of antagonists with a clear goal, in the beginning at least. Through metal face constantly attacking them, it reveals a lot more about the mechons which are genuine shocks to the characters. And he doesn't do it by babbling on like that 1st consul did where he explains they're enemies but doesn't actually explain anything other than that. He does it by acting smug about killing you know who. Showing that mechons can be sentient. He does it by bragging about their death in front of shulk. Showing that some mechons can talk. Ultimately he's a fantastic 1st villain meant to guide the players and characters towards the real objective and his sadistic, bad for the sake of it, nature compliments that unraveling mystery really well

Which is more than I can say for any of the consuls that have appeared thus far. But again, I'm still at ch.3. This only really applies to what I think is the beginning of the story despite being. Maybe the story will pick up soon and the villains actually do something other than literally cackle, say a few generic evil lines and then die/lose right after. Legit I have not seen them do anything else except for that 1st consul guy

Re: Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Is July's Best-Selling Switch Game In NPD Results

Judal27

Im only at chapter 3 still but considering there's apparently only 7 chapters that's almost about half way, and so far the story has made little to no progress. I don't understand how anyone can prefer a story where the villains just seem to be generic cackling baddies that are bad for the sake of it. Maybe they become more interesting towards the end but XB1 and 2 introduced great villains right from the start

Re: Soapbox: Yes, You Really Should Do All Of Xenoblade Chronicles 3's Sidequests

Judal27

I've only done a few as they're barely starting to open up but they seem pretty standard to me. Hero quests are like the blade quests in 2 where the specified character gets a little sub story and the standard quests are your usual quests which can range from fetching this, kill that but with a little bit of story attached to give you more incentive to do it and sometimes even lead to hidden areas

Not that it's a bad thing, I always enjoyed doing the side quests even in XB1 if only to give me an excuse to go out and take in the views and listen to the amazing ost. And there was just a weird sense of satisfaction seeing your affinity chart in 1 being filled to the brim with lines lol

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (August 13th)

Judal27

Xenoblade 3. I'm barely into chapter 3 or at least it feels like it, it's a good game definitely has that Xenoblade-y feel when you're out exploring. But it's easily the weakest game in the series. At least so far anyway. But the start to this story is so generic with it's "war is bad" theme and so aimless as it tries to find any reason it can to bring the two parts of the main group together without explaining anything that's actually going on. Both 1 and 2 gave you the basic gist of whats going on while still keep some mysteries for later reveals perfectly. And the villains, dear lord, did they choose to go with the most cookie cutter villains yet. The main cast is already the most generic yet but would they really throw you some generic villains to fight on top too?

The music is by far my biggest gripe. It's a Xenoblade game, they're supposed to come with a phenomenal soundtrack. What happened? Apart from that, the landscapes aren't anywhere near 2's beautiful titans and don't seem to even hold a candle to 1's. Combat is extremely slow even slower than 1, and the orbs system in 2 was way more fun than the revamped chain attack system. There's a bunch more but honestly I'd be lying if I said I wasn't still enjoying most of my time with it, which is only about 20 hrs so I'm expecting it to get much better later on. So yea looking forward to playing more this weekend lmao

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (August 6th)

Judal27

Finally dusted off the switch since who knows how long it's been since I used it. Gonna be playing through Xenoblade Chronicles 3. Still can't believe they ok'd all of these characters designs but I still managed to thoroughly enjoy xb2 despite how awful rex was so I'm sure I'll get thru 3 just fine. Looking forward to see how it all concludes

Re: Witcher 3 Dev Admits He Overcrowded One Map With Too Many Points Of Interest

Judal27

Skellige did have way too many in comparison to the rest of the world but i still had such a great time going through it especially the quests which is what Witcher 3 is obviously known for excelling in

As for botw, its definitely more empty with a lot less meaningful stuff to do. And the people going botw has you finding things more organically, lol. You'd have to be entranced by the completely redundant and often useless mechanics like "oh you can make winds by burning grass!" "holding a flame sword in the cold makes your temp go down", to not see that exploring by spotting obvious out of the ordinary things like a group of trees in between masses of empty lands, a rock on top of a hill, etc. becomes extremely repetitive itself no different than going through a checklist. Especially when the reward for even doing any of that is utterly meaningless which is one of botw's biggest problems. BotW is literally "See that mountain of there? You can climb it, but there's absolutely nothing there." The "journey" itself wasn't anything rewarding that's for sure and definitely gets repetitive but the reward itself wastes my time too? Geez... But maybe this isn't the place to ramble about how massively overrated botw is lol

Re: The Pokémon Company Delivers 'Staggering' Financial Results

Judal27

@Bailey5000 I looked forward to that one but I dunno. The game play loop itself looks very repetitive. And I'd rather not buy what looks like a prototype game. If they're gonna use what they made in legends Arceus, and build and improve upon it. Then I'd probably be better off waiting for that game instead. And I'm hoping this upcoming gen finally churns out that game

Re: Poll: What's The Best Warriors Game On Switch?

Judal27

I'd have to say the pirate warriors games are the best. One piece and Zelda are two of my favorite franchises but for some reason I couldn't get into the Zelda musous while I adore the pirate warriors series. The 1st Zelda warriors was pretty fun but gets mundane fast and all the little objectives everywhere don't serve to give the game more variety. It's just downright tedious to do. Pirate warriors is more of the usual straight forward gameplay but the maps kinda go by fast so it never gets too repetitive too quickly and the characters are just a ton of fun to control

Re: Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Gets A Release Date, And It's Sooner Than You Think

Judal27

Getting this day 1. But damn the character designs are still the blandest ever. I really hope you can stay in those duo transformations for as long as possible so I don't have to look at the dude with the orange scarf. Can't believe that's a design that's come out of the xeno series. And it sounds like I'm playing this with Japanese dub again

Re: Sonic Frontiers Was Originally Planned For A 2021 Release, But Sega Wanted To "Brush Up The Quality"

Judal27

"Back in the day it used to be like every year there was a new Sonic game. And as a result of that, there were a number of times...because of that rushed production schedule, the quality of the games wouldn't quite be where they really needed to be."
This should be gamefreak about pokemon

Here's hoping this supposed time was spent well. Sonic frontiers looks promising and has a lot of potential. I'm looking forward to seeing more
