Looking forward to this! I played the original Ys 3 on TG-16 when it was new. Not one of my favorite games, so it will be nice to play the remake that I missed on Sony hardware way back when.
If they do go cross platform that will be a good way to get those of us with discounted preorders on this game to cancel them. I know I’d definitely want the Switch 2 version.
@Yoshif3 That’s a good point. As much as I liked ToTK it really did change up the core gameplay and feels really different. This new game almost feels like an attempt to bring that new gameplay to 2D.
@Yoshif3 Changing up the gameplay so dramatically feels like a spinoff to me. Like Mario Party. It may have all the characters, but the gameplay is different. But semantics isn’t really the issue, I’m fine calling it whatever (unless it’s a cringe word like “shmup”, but I digress) and I hope they’ve hit on something fun, but I’m not going to get excited about it until they convince me.
I’m surprised at all the positive reactions to this. My own is more guarded. Zelda is my favorite series, but this gameplay doesn’t strike me as fun. How do you choose which items to echo? Are we going to be hitting L and R a lot to find what we want? If anyone can pull it off Nintendo can, but when it comes to spinoffs their track record is mixed to negative. Normally any Zelda game is a day one for me, but I’ll be waiting for reviews, and probably a sale.
I got a WiiU super cheap back in 2019 when my local shop just wanted them gone. I picked up Windwaker right away, but this week I finally broke down and got Twilight Princess. So they’ll probably announce those, lol. Time to offload my excess switch games on eBay before switch 2 gets announced. This is probably the best window for that.
This is a cool idea, but not interested at that price. If it had controllers like the Japanese release maybe, but a bunch of collectible junk does nothing for me.
I’m not much of a fan of western style games. I generally prefer Japanese games. I’ve tried many of the big titles that have come to switch over the years and haven’t finished any really. I’d try a demo but at this point I’m not willing to do a blind buy.
Disappointed it’s not a regular direct, but oh well. Maybe we will get info about the DQ3 HD 2D remake. Not excited for Contra because I’m going to have to wait a long time for the limited run cartridge that I believe is inevitable.
It was fine. Like @Clyde_Radcliffe said it reminds me of Captain Toad but at a much higher price point. I’d only pick it up at half what they’re asking.
Sega should never have let their old IP lapse in the first place. So great to see them finally continuing something other than Sonic. Hopefully they’re great.
If it weren’t for Nintendo 1st party titles I probably wouldn’t be a gamer anymore. After owning a PS2 and an XBOX during that generation I was just not into any games. I modded my Xbox and really got into Ocarina of Time. It was glitchy though so I bought a $99 GameCube with the Ocarina disc and I’ve never looked back. I’m a Nintendo gamer and I know it. Everyone else can keep their western AAA titles. Not interested.
The price increases make a lot of sense with the crazy inflation we’ve had. I mostly wait for deals anyway and use various reward points to get my must have day 1 games. I’m fine with a $400 price point if it will do 1080p/60 consistently for a new generation of games and have backwards compatibility. OLED would be great but I’m almost 100% docked.
Makes no difference to me as I don’t care for Rockstar’s games. But it would be nice to have as many hits as possible for the next system to be successful. More success, more 1st party Nintendo games (which is mostly what I care about).
@TotalHenshin Shiro is in the other game, but not too much. He will come and get you before dinner sometimes.
I wanted to love “Me and the Professor,” but I put about 8 hours into it and moved on. It got really repetitive. Glad others enjoyed it though. I’ll pass on this new one.
The idea of DLSS making lower powered Nintendo portable hardware compete with the beefier systems is really exciting. I hope this is what we will get. What the others do just doesn’t appeal to me, so having something with comparable output running Nintendo games would be amazing.
Didn’t like anything about the new movie. No character development of the turtles, Splinter is just a pathetic character, they learned to be ninja from watching Kung Fu movies? Then they don’t know what they’re doing (which actually makes sense) but in the space of about 2 minutes they work out how to be ninja.
Finally there is NOTHING serious in the movie. Every single scenario is played for a dumb laugh.
Glad there are so many games out there for people to look forward to. For me none of those titles have anything on TOTK or Pikmin 4. But I don’t need my favorite games to win awards. I’ll enjoy them just the same.
This is scary. I have a lot of unopened games that I’ve had for too long to be able to return them. I’ve heard the horror stories and try to remember to shine a flashlight in there to make sure there is a cartridge, but often forget to.
I’m going to hold off a bit and see if the Konami store gets a custom cover like they did with Contra. Although I think I have a 5% off a Konami game from Limited Run coupon around here somewhere.
I think they overcomplicated it. I don’t enjoy the depths/gloom or having to upgrade battery in addition to stamina/hearts, etc. BOTW is still my favorite game. This is 2nd.
I'm a patient bargain hunter for the most part, but Zelda, Metroid, Mario (2D and 3D), and Pikmin are exceptions to this rule. I saved up my Best Buy points to get this one for $5 on day one. In a way I appreciate that Nintendo doesn't give deep discounts, because that means I don't have to wonder if there will be a deep discount on this after a few months (for the most part). After I finish TOTK, PIkmin 4 will be next.
Had my copy up on eBay and it suddenly sold yesterday. Then I noticed on Deku Deals it seems to be going out of stock everywhere. Maybe it’s going out of print.
Bought Ryza 3 physical the other day. It had its deepest discount to date ($50) and Walmart and Target no longer carry it. Makes me think it MIGHT go out of print in the next few months. And then get reprinted by VGP as per usual.
There was a time when I thought I was done with gaming. I tried the PS2 and wasn’t impressed, so I got an OG XBox and played a few games. Eventually I hacked it and played Ocarina of Time (which I had missed due to getting rid of my N64 too early). It was buggy but I loved the game so I bought a GameCube with the Zelda pack in disc. What I discovered is that I really just like Nintendo games. If Nintendo suddenly disappeared I probably wouldn’t buy any games. What the other consoles do doesn’t appeal to me enough to invest in them.
Looks good (but not a game changer), definitely interested when it goes on sale. Full $66 price (including tax) seems too much for a 2D Mario game these days.
I’m not subscribed to Nintendo Online anymore, and don’t miss it. I despise monthly fees, and while I might actually play some older titles if they gave us a collection to buy, they’re going to have to offer something truly spectacular to get me to subscribe to their service.
My Best Buy order has said “Preparing for Pickup Today” for several days and it is absolute torture. I’ve avoided all the new videos this year except one viewing of the final trailer. Very excited for the newest entry in my favorite series! Finally a new Nintendo game for me (and a new Pikmin coming too)! Wish they would release new 2D Zelda games in between the 3D releases to give me my fix more often
I’ll pick it up when it gets a decent sale price. I’m not too big on strategy games, but I’m willing to give this a chance. If it’s anything close to Military Madness I’m sure I’ll like it.
I’m glad some people were happy with what they got in 2022, but it was completely devoid of traditional Nintendo franchises. I’m not a Pokémon fan, find Kirby games too simple, and don’t enjoy racing games. Played Splatoon 2 to death, but 3 really brings nothing new to the table to pull me back in. Xenoblade is alright though, I’ll grab 3 on sale at some point. 2022 really had zero for me from Nintendo. It was probably the switch’s worst year.
I have some nostalgia for these games, having played them on TG-16 back in the day. I bought the 1st collection because it was cool to have 1-3 all in English (3 I think for the first time). I definitely missed 4 not being there, but THERE IS NO WAY I’M BUYING THIS COLLECTION JUST TO GET 4!
@DogDetective There are some games that give me motion sickness, but it isn’t a given thing. For some reason Lego Star Wars did (but that seems to be a common issue when I look online). Games like Splatoon are just fine though. I thought MPR would have a dual stick/gyro option like Splatoon, but it doesn’t. I think it’s the control scheme, but I can’t be sure of that.
@DogDetective Yes. I preordered it right away after I saw the direct. I always do in store pickup because I live a few blocks from a Best Buy. I wonder if the options vary by location. Maybe your store was already out of their allocation when you ordered. Hope you get it soon. Sadly after playing about 2 hours on Wednesday I had motion sickness all day yesterday. Not sure I’m going to be able to play anymore…
Preordered from Best Buy and picked it up on release. I played through Prime on GC and on Wii, but this version is giving me serious motion sickness. Not sure if I’ve changed or it has.

Cool, I’ll buy this on sale at some point ~$30. I’m patient.
Re: Talking Point: What Do You Want To See From The Next Super Mario Bros. Movie?
I’d like a fresh start at a new studio. It’s not that the movie is bad, it just feels like an Illumination movie. Thoroughly mediocre.
