Got mine today. I was kind of surprised that it doesn’t have a Splatoon type control scheme where you can use dual sticks and gyro (for finer aiming). I’m using the pointer controls but it’s giving me quite a bit of motion sickness. Sad because I LOVE the trilogy.
I can’t wait for this! Won’t be buying it digitally though as that goes against every fiber of my being. February 22nd can’t come soon enough. Although now that I see it’s sold out and Best Buy is listing it as unknown release date on my order page I’m getting a little nervous.
I believe we will be seeing 2 and 3 remasters later this year leading up to the release of Prime 4 next year.
Really interested in these games, but not a subscription. Just dropped from a family plan to a single plan for my daughter because she plays Splatoon 3. I don’t need online for the games I play. I’ll probably play a few gameboy games with the base package.
For Zelda and Metroid I would pay the higher price. Luckily I already had them preordered at lower prices. Any other games I will wait for sales as always. It likely won’t matter in the long run after they reset our currencies to CBDC.
TBH the current $66+ (with tax) price is beyond what I’m willing to pay for a game. Zelda and Metroid are the exceptions. Luckily I preordered Prime 4 years ago at a discount, and TOtK when it first popped up at $60. I’d still get my money’s worth out of those two titles at nearly $80 (as it would be with tax), but that’s really starting to stretch it.
Finally broke down and ordered the big collection after getting the Wonderboy collection in the mail today. I have a soft spot for these newly translated classic releases.
Never played a Fire Emblem game. Not into turn based strategy really. This continues the long string of Nintendo releases that don’t interest me. Zelda though…
I don’t care what the other consoles are doing, only have a Switch. 2022 didn’t see a single exciting Nintendo release for me. I don’t care for Pokémon at all. I tried Arceus though and it wasn’t for me. Tactics games are not my thing either. I enjoyed and beat Xenoblade DE a few years ago, but have tried to start 2 several times and just can’t get into it, so haven’t bothered with 3. I LOVED Splatoon 2, but 3 just seems like more of the same so I passed. Kirby looked great, but the demo didn’t do anything for me. Yeah, it has been a slow year. Currently playing Persona 5 thanks to the 50% off sales it has seen. It took a lot of hours to get into it, but enjoying it now. Exploring Tokyo in the game really takes me back to my high school days in Japan, lol.
2023 will be great for Zelda alone, but Pikmin is right up there too.
It’s been a really lackluster Switch year for me. But just started Persona 5 and digging how it makes me feel nostalgic for my high school days in Tokyo (minus the whole palace thing of course).
If, as some suggest, the next console is not a hybrid but a new innovation then I think the Switch will get a spec bump and remain in the lineup. Otherwise they would be abandoning a market they created. Personally I don’t see them going in a different direction. I think we will see a Switch 2 with some new innovation.
Really enjoyed the first game on switch. I wasn’t aware they were still adding content. I hope we get a sequel soon along with Curse of the Moon 3. I fully expect an Asia region trilogy cartridge once that happens, lol.
I would think a few physical limited time retro collections from Nintendo would do really well. Just a cartridge of all the games from the NES Classic and another with all the games from the SNES Classic would be instant buys for me. If the 3rd party rights are too difficult then just do one cartridge with all the Nintendo games from both. Do I want more than that? Yeah, but that would be a great start.
At some point people will have subscription fatigue and then most companies are going to have to pivot quickly.
No physical games is a deal breaker for me. Although on the plus side Steam often sells digital games on sale for about what I believe they’re actually worth, a few dollars.
I hope Platinum is going to give their side of this, because that’s pretty outrageous.
People in general have a really skewed view of what being a good actor actually requires. It’s hard work. The entertainment industry is super cut throat, and definitely not a great way to have a career. Everybody wants your job, and is willing to work for peanuts to get their foot in the door. It’s a freelance job, so you’re not getting benefits, and on top of that you have to pay self employment taxes if you’re in the U.S. After taxes that $4k wouldn’t even cover 1 month’s rent in Los Angeles for example.
I once saw a documentary where Clint Eastwood said you shouldn’t get into the industry unless you just wouldn’t be happy doing anything else. It’s a sad truth.
@Atariboy Thanks for the detailed info! I just assumed if they had the rights to release titles from the Lynx and Jaguar eras that they would have the rights to all Atari games from that time.
Woah, wasn’t expecting that. I’d love to see a new Time Crisis or my favorite light gun game of all time, Gunbullet! But I would absolutely need one of those awesome arcade guns with the kickback.
@burninmylight My company has software that tracks how much activity you engage in on your computer. If there is no input from the keyboard or mouse in a given 10 second period, that counts as inactivity. You are required to maintain an 85% activity rate. It burns you out, but I can definitely say that I spend most of my work hours making sure there is input on the computer.
I wish SLG would stop double taxing US customers. Their prices have become outrageous. They don’t remove their European VAT tax, which is baked into the price, and then they charge me my local taxes on top of that. I like it much better when they simply billed me in Euros.
If any of Zelda or Metroid Prime rumors are true it would save 2022 for me. When we do finally get Twilight Princess I really hope they give us the option of motion control. While it was nothing like what Skyward Sword had, I really enjoyed the sword control option.
I put 150+ hours into Splatoon 2 (which is a lot for me). Had a really good time, but eventually moved on. Splatoon 3 hasn’t shown me anything that makes me want to pay for another go. Plus my online subscription will expire in a few months at which point the game won’t get any use unless I renew. Probably not going to do that.
@GrailUK LOL, didn’t see that one. The title rings a bell, but I don’t think I ever played it. There was one box on the screen that was half cropped and I couldn’t tell what it was.
Put this on a cartridge and make sure it includes Tempest 2000. It will be mine. This announcement is better than anything from yesterday’s direct for me.
Was thinking of ordering this from Play-Asia. Glad I waited. I’m not buying digital, but maybe they’ll patch English in to the Japanese release, or better yet do an Asia English version.
@NinjaSyao This was my first thought, MATCH THE NAMES IN THE SUBTITLES TO THE AUDIO I SELECTED. My Japanese isn’t what it used to be, so I do turn on the English subs, but that only confuses things more when it comes to XBC. An option for faithful subtitles (regardless of changes made to the English script) would be way more helpful than lip sync for me.
I’m glad everyone is excited about the upcoming titles, but not one of them is for me. I loved XBC:DE, but find the combat in XBC2 too obtuse, which makes 3 not very exciting. Loved Splatoon 2, but 3 hasn’t shown me anything to get excited about. BOTW 2 would have been enough for this year, hopefully they’ll have something else up their sleeves.
I picked this up on sale recently and was pretty excited to try it out. It literally made me sick. After an hour of playing I put on some sea sickness bands and took it back to the store. I wouldn’t leave until they refunded my money. I haven’t had such a reaction to a game before.
@Orokosaki Can’t speak for anyone else, but I’m very patient. Can’t imagine ever spending $25 for a digital file. For some reason digital goods are all but worthless to me. Looking forward to this cartridge.
I can’t buy from strictly limited anymore. Their dollar prices are higher than their equivalent in Euros, they don’t remove the VAT, then I have to pay my local taxes, and international shipping. It’s just not worth it.
Launching unfinished killed it for me. If it’s confirmed to get an updated version with everything on cart later then I will consider it. Until then forget it.
I ordered the collection when it was announced a few weeks ago. The next day strictly limited increased the dollar price by quite a bit. It seems like they’re making US buyers pay the European VAT tax and on top of that pay our local tax rate too. Their games were already pretty pricey, but this just makes them outrageous. I won’t be buying from them any more until they figure out how to make it more reasonable.

Hmm, I wonder if this means no Curse of the Moon 3. I expected that to come along with a trilogy physical release in Asia, but maybe not.
