Re: Mini Review: Densha de Go! Hashiro Yamanote Line - Yes, You Just Drive A Train

If the original had come out just a bit earlier I probably would’ve played it, as I was in the arcade all the time after school (despite rules restricting us from being seen in arcades in our school uniforms). But there were no arcades near my dorm after it came out. I would see it sometimes when I visited Tokyo, but never took the time to try it. And the PlayStation version was so expensive with its special controller from what I remember.

But I’ve ordered this one, and just waiting for it to arrive. It’s been a long time coming!

Re: Dev Explains Why Nintendo Made Mario's Anniversary Games Limited-Time

@JimmySpades If you say so. I don’t like being referred to as a “consumer.” I am aware that it is in regards to someone who uses up the value of an item, making it worth less. I find the concept altogether backward. As a producer, one should look at customers as people who are enriched by your products, assuming that you believe your products have value. One can understand a concept and still find it repulsive.

In Japanese the word for customer and guest are the same, and that is a more respectful way of looking at people.

Re: 8BitDo Reveals Its New "Pro 2" Bluetooth Controller, Compatible With Switch

@RupeeClock I’ve had 2 SN30 Pro+ controllers, and both have wonky D-Pads. It took a few months of light use to develop, but either I got unlucky twice (3 times if you count my SF30 Pro) or 8bitdo still hasn’t figured out how to make a good D-Pad. I wouldn’t mind so much if their warranty solution wasn’t “send it to us in China and we’ll fix it.” I did pack it up and take it to the post office, but the shipping was going to cost almost as much as the controller.

Re: Random: Nintendo Ironically Celebrates All Mario Switch Games With Fans, Weeks Before Wiping Some From Existence

@doctorhino Perhaps, you can see it that way if you choose. For me, saying that you don’t like something doesn’t necessarily equate to whining. But when it drags on and on for months and months across news story after news story it becomes tedious. The point has been made. And my point has been made very clearly as well, I can’t wait for this to pass. I don’t intend to keep posting about it in every new story either.

Re: Soapbox: Zelda: Skyward Sword Is Good, Actually

I loved Skyward Sword, and at the time thought it would be really hard to go back to using traditional controls. I'm really looking forward to this. I only wish they had improved the graphics a bit more, they still look very "wii".

Re: Soapbox: Grinding Is Poor Gameplay Design That Doesn’t Respect Your Time

Joekun

Agreed. Back when I first started playing RPGs (on the Master System with Miracle Warriors and Phantasy Star) I didn't mind it so much. These days I just don't have the time or inclination to spend an hour or more grinding just to progress to the next area. A few months ago I got Ys Origin, but I gave up on it about halfway through after I realized I needed to grind 40 minutes for each boss. That's just not worth it now, which is saying something because every run I ever did of Ys 1 involved grinding as soon as I started the game until I could afford the most expensive sword
