@Preposterous I’m with you 100%. I sometimes find myself thinking Steam Deck might be cool, but then remember it has no physical games.

The only positive to digital is that they often sell those games on sale for about what they’re worth, a few bucks. For some reason I just don’t value digital games. I’ve got hundreds of free games from the Epic store, and have never even bothered to play one of them.

Everyone is moving to a subscription model and hoping that their customers will just set it and forget it. That has been a good business model up to this point. But with EVERYONE doing it I think the music will stop at some point with people realizing they are just throwing money away (if you’re playing NSWO you aren’t watching that Netflix sub you are paying for, etc). Then many companies are going to have to figure out a new model or die.

Any opinions about the best one to start with? I realize that Beginnings was made first, but most people in the west didn’t get to play it until I think the WiiU era.

I keep hearing that 2022 is “stacked” just with what we know about, but not for me. BOTW 2 is the only announced release that has me hyped.

I loved Splatoon 2 and have more hours in that than any other game on switch, but Splatoon 3 looks like more of the same. I’m not a Pokémon fan, but Arceus looks like it might be worth a try, same with Kirby, but hype level is meh for these. I really hope Nintendo has something more. It doesn’t take much to make me happy, even just bringing over some classics (to buy, not a subscription) would be something to look forward to.

Can't say it looks as good as the amazing Ninja Spirit referenced, or even Shinobi. But might be worth a try.

I’m waiting for the 2 pack. I got burned buying one of their previous Star Wars titles.

I love this series. Played all 4 on the TG16 back when they were new. I came very close to preordering from Playasia a few days ago, but decided to wait. I’m so glad I did.

Trilogy would be a day 1 purchase (even though I already have it on Wii). Remastered version of 1 I would definitely buy once it hits $40.

@Dilly-Mick I love Pikmin, but find this “game”boring. I couldn’t believe this got an 8, but after reading the description you posted it makes sense. I don’t enjoy the pedometer genre, LOL.

Was hoping to grab one of these before my Nintendo Online account expired. Oh well.

I love Mario Party, but after paying full price for the last one I think I can hold out for it at $40 on sale next year.

I like all 3, but 1 was perfect. I don’t like switching back and forth between characters.

I’m glad for people who love it, but it’s one of my least favorite Mario games. The best part were the 2D levels. For a long time I hoped they would Captain Toad those by releasing a game just based on them.

Has no one thought to try it with Mario 64 on Mario All Stars?

I don’t remember much about Other M. I bought it and sold it off pretty quickly. I never do that.

The timing of this is suspicious. So far we have heard from a bunch of ex-employees and no one else. If they have a toxic work environment then they should fix it, but I’m not going to make snap judgments based on so little real info.

If true then Nintendo made a big mistake. They could have just bought every subscriber a Genesis Collection download and moved on. I won’t ever be paying for this subscription, and in truth am planning to let my regular subscription expire in a few weeks.

Should they be credited? Yeah. Is this a big deal? No. There are many ways of putting yourself out there these days, and potential employers can just search on LinkedIn or other sites to find the people they need. They could just as easily move to not doing credits, like in TV. The first few times you get credited it’s cool, but you get over it quickly.

I’d like this, but probably going to wait for a sale unless my siblings across the country get it. It’d be great to relive old times playing with them, only online this time.

The only reason I’ve had NSO for the last 2 years is because my kids were playing Splatoon 2 regularly. That’s not the case anymore, so I won’t be renewing until I have a need to. This announcement didn’t change that, and wouldn’t have even if it had been free.

Trying to finish up Windwaker for the first time on WiiU. I played on the GC back in ‘05, but never finished. Restarted about 2 years ago, but didn’t finish. Picked it back up a couple weeks ago and want to finish before Dread comes.

I don’t think a 4K Switch is coming anytime in the next 5+ years. Even the Switch 2 is unlikely to support 4K. This is Nintendo, the company that didn’t do HD until the WiiU.

I was disappointed, but there were a couple little things for me. Seems like the story of the last 2 years, other than when Metroid was announced. People always say this fall is really stacked, but other than Dread there are a few games coming I might pick up on sale. No day one stuff.

@Darkyoshi98 Not necessarily. If you play a few N64 games in the first month and then don’t play them the rest of the year then you would’ve been better off paying for just a month of the higher tier.

But your point is well taken, as I mentioned in another post I’m averse to ongoing charges no matter their frequency. I seem to be one of the few though because every company is adopting the subscription model. I think there will come a breaking point for customers.

I never played this, and would be interested but for the fact that you have to pay for a service to play it.

I sold my N64 because there weren’t many games I was interested in and there was still talk of putting Zelda on the 64DD. I didn’t want to have to invest in more hardware for one game (and I would have because Zelda is my favorite series). I still think the N64 library is the weakest of all Nintendo systems save the Virtual Boy, despite having a handful of the best games of all time.

@MichaelP Why would anyone think that? I’m not trying to be contentious here, I really don’t understand where you got that idea from. Is it because I said monthly fees? I guess that was poor wording, I usually say that in regard to streaming services. But I’m just as averse to any ongoing charge. I pay $35 a year for the family plan because my kids still play Splatoon 2, but I wait until they ask me before renewing it. I actually have a year code I got on discount that I haven’t entered yet.

Hmm, it’ll probably come to LRG and then get announced in a double pack for retail when the second one is announced.

If it’s physical, day 1. Hopefully the LRG one sold well enough that Konami will consider releasing it themselves.

All that talk about Darksiders being like Zelda for me to pick up the first two when they were on sale. That wasn’t the case (at least in my estimation) and I lost interest quickly. Don’t think I’ll be trying another one.

Wow, and I thought the physical release was overpriced! At least that version has resale value that will likely go up quite a bit over time.

I’d pay $20 for a Game and Watch, but short of that I’ll pass.

It’s worth pointing out that it says “If there are many requests (we) will work hard so that you can play them in other ‘environments’ (Obviously meaning platforms).” The key word being “requests,” not sales.

The Google translation is obviously funky, and the answer appears to be written from the point of view of a chocobo, making it more difficult for machine translation, but Google did get “requests” correct.

@Spiders Yes, that is nice. Although it can be challenging to run really old games meant to run on the operating systems of their day. But with a lot of effort one can make it work.

No Nintendo games? Meh. No physical games? Double meh. To me digital games have very little value. On the positive side, Steam prices (especially during sales) reflect this reality.

Ah, that was about 2 years before my first E3. Too bad.

@JayJ Don’t get me wrong, I wouldn’t ever pay that kind of money even if I had it, but this is a rare revision of the cartridge. It means nothing to me, but to some people it’s a big deal I guess. I don’t have a problem with that. They aren’t hurting anyone by wasting their money, or keeping this sealed.
