This article almost brought up the most unsung feature of this game. The haptic feedback is the best rumble implementation I've ever experienced. It really enhanced the game!
Do any 2k vets have tips on what to avoid to stay away from monetized elements? I'm definitely getting this.
Also, sorry, but no moment of silence for the Hulkster. He was my hero when I was a kid, and it was very disillusioning and disappointing to find out later that he was an enormous hypocrite and all around awful guy.
Am I the only one who prefers joycons? I like being able to lounge with my hands independent of each other, alternately draped off the edge of the sofa or behind my head. (Although that throws off the gyro sometimes...)
Regardless, $80+ is way past what I would pay for a controller. $50 would probably be my limit ¯(ツ)/¯
I wish NL would give a quick overview of what there game is (e.g., pretty looking, top down, souls like action RPG). I have to go to Wikipedia to have any idea what you're talking about half the time.
I definitely had to fire this up, because I couldn't remember any Duck Hunt music 😂 But they actually left out the most important track! The dog laughing at you for missing rage bait.
I wonder what it is about MKW that causes the battery to go so quickly? I have been getting way longer play times on Fast Fusion, Welcome Tour, and now Witcher 3.
Loving this game! MKW has been tossed on the backburner, lol. Fast Fusion really requires practice, focus, and mastery. I think it sounds, looks, and plays great.
@8bit-Man It's so big that I think I'll mostly play it at home. I'm happy I have other handhelds when I'm really on the go. I just unboxed mine this morning, but I left it home in favor of my teeny retro handheld on my current trip to the auto shop! That said, the huge HDR Switch 2 screen is gorgeous - I'm really hyped to get back to my couch lol.
@Corvus96 They could reprint games for which there is obviously still lots of demand, just like other small publishers do (Fangamer, Iam8bit, etc.). But the scarcity model is literally in their name. They say they limit the production because their buyers like this. But they're definitely serving a certain type of collector that likes to have things that others can't get... as well as scalpers. That rubs me the wrong way.
It's rough for us consumers, but also for Nintendo. I'll stop buying amiibo if they go up 50%. And Nintendo will get way less sales. Tariffs certainly aren't a zero sum game--everyone loses.
Three systems had revolutionary, must-play games: NES, N64, and Switch. SMB, Mario 64, & BotW were all holy @%#$, must buy this system ASAP games. Between the three, I'd pick NES or N64. N64 is a hard case to make because it was only two games, but Mario 64 was so revolutionary. And Pilotwings 64 was tons of fun too!
Switch 2 has no revolutionary, must-play games at launch. MKWorld looks to be an incremental improvement on MK8 ¯(ツ)/¯
I'm actually planning to pre-order Switch 2 and just play old games on better hardware. Until Metroid Prime 4 comes out!
I just played the Talos Principle on Switch for $3 on sale. A stellar, full-length game. I also purchased Limbo for $2, which was only a few hours of play, but very fun and memorable. Maybe I'll wait for the feature demo game to go on sale a couple years down the road for kicks.
This game looks to be a really creative implementation, and the word from the hands-on folks is that it's well done and fun. I'm not a multiplayer guy, though--I wonder if the solo experience will be worth it.
And to anyone saying they wouldn't want to play something that disabled people play, you're being a total *****. In soccer you're not allowed to use your hands, but somehow it's still fun and not only to people without the use of their hands... Seriously, this opinion I'm seeing repeatedly above couldn't be more condescending and illogical.
So... I really enjoyed watching the direct and am excited about the hardware upgrades. But the launch titles are honestly weak, and the prices are high (it's hard to eat the higher prices on everything — console, games, peripherals). I thought I was a guaranteed pre-order, but I'm actually thinking I'll hold off.
@SuperBro64 It's super complicated, but the most simplistic explanation is high interest rates in the US and very low rates in Japan make holding USD more profitable than JPY, because lending in USD becomes much more profitable. That's just one factor, though.
The yen has ben SO weak it's insane. I was staying in high end hotels in Tokyo last year for the equivalent of ~$100 USD/night. My Japanese friends hate it, though, because any imported goods or international travel is very unaffordable for them (even though their economy is pretty strong).
Bravely Default is, per SE's announcement, available at Switch 2 launch. No date on FF7R. I've been holding off on playing this for a long time, can't wait!
More than $100 USD cheaper in Japan. I don't begrudge them that at all though. Their currency has been super weak and our politics have been super stupid.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (2nd August)
100-percented DKB, so it's back to Witcher 3, Switch 2 style. The Blood & Wine DLC is amazing.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (26th July)
@urfaverenegade That game requires a 2nd playthrough, though!
Re: Donkey Kong Bananza Takes Inspiration From Dark Souls For These Gold Statues
I don't think I ever died on a layer 😂 Plenty of times in the post-ending challenges though!

And yes, I'd totally buy this.

Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Donkey Kong Bananza?
Easy 10. It's a masterpiece and likely GotY. Better than Odyssey. Incredibly fun and well made.

Gotta save that 10 for Metroid Prime—I see you ;P

My bigger beef with LRG is that their scarcity model promotes scalping.

Is language the only locking mechanism? My Japanese is definitely good enough to handle UI type stuff.
Re: Poll: So, How Would You Rate The Nintendo Switch 2 Direct?
Points deducted for the US feed crashing. And no mention of the greater than expected price hikes
