It doesn't 'bother' me persay, but it did make it much less exciting. New Mario Kart more than made up for it though, hopefully we won't have to wait until April to see what third party games are coming to the system as well.
@jcgonzmo I actually do think that anyone who hasn't played Breath of the Wild should just play Totk instead, but that's because I do think that Totk is just better Botw.
This is different though, because at least the level designs are different.
My Switch case is about the same thickness and nearly the same length and height as my Steam Deck case. These consoles haven't truly been portable since they fit in a pocket.
They're literally required for Warioware Move It, but if I ever need to play a game with a single Joycon (8 player smash) I use them to make hitting the shoulder buttons easier.
@WhiteTrashGuy Yeah I also have a Portal (30th Anniversary) and it is shockingly good. Somehow makes my Steam Deck Oled screen feel small and that 1080p makes a world of difference.
That laser next to the connecter slot is interesting, maybe we'll see it used as a mouse.
The ONLY thing that isn't practically a given with Nintendo that I want out of this system is an OLED screen out the gate. I know they'll have a new 3D Mario, they confirmed backwards compatibility, now all I need is an OLED screen day one
64 games and 239 hours. Definitely much less since I got my Steam Deck. Top games are Smash Ultimate, Overlord Escape from Nazarick, Emio, and Mario Kart.
I'm watching it in hopes of some Squenix stuff, and Bandai saved the reveal of the next Tekken 8 character for the game awards, instead of this big recent Tekken tournament where they're usually announced at, so I'm thinking a guest character.
My favorite has got to be Metal Slug Tactics. Played it on Steam Deck but it really has had a hold on me. The first new game I've bought in some time where I put over 10 hours in in a month (which is a LOT for me, I've been playing Persona 5 Royal for a year and am only 40 hours in).
Fun gameplay, good art design, nice references and replayability. Easily a 10/10 at $25 (now if we were talking any game, my goty would be FF7 Rebirth)
I don't think that the argument that "consoles are going to be dead" means that we're all going to be on PCs, I think it just means that by the next generation we're truly going to see the feasible limits for what a video game can be. The PS5 is already being pushed to its limits, but the PS5 Pro can do 4k 60fps, 4k 120fps, 8k 30 fps, and even 8k 60 fps.
Where do you go beyond 4k 120 fps and 8k 60 fps? We're at the limit at what the HDMI cable can provide, and practically no TVs have Display Port. I think the PS6 will be upgradable, a "PC" in a sense.
Now if Xbox knew what they were doing, they would simply make the next Xbox more powerful than the PS6. They already said that the next Xbox will be the biggest leap in graphical power. We haven't really had a console that's more powerful than the other since the PS2 days, give people reason to buy an Xbox.
I actually really like my Alarmo, it works much better than you would think. Even just waving my hand to trigger the motion sensor and pause the alarm for a few minutes is enough to wake me up more than hitting snooze on a phone.
Wish they would give us that Mario Kart 8 update though...
I grew out of my Splatoon phase before 3 came out, so this is music that I'm much more familiar with. Might give the Spicy Calamari Inkantation a whirl
@N00BiSH I feel like Brothership also has had mixed reactions, maybe even more so than Infinite. That's where the "disappointing" sales numbers come in.
Also, Infinite came out in 2017, and it was confirmed that talks for the Marvel collection started in 2021/2022. They went dormant for longer than Mario and Luigi did.
I'm enjoying my time with it but dang it just has too many little things that bother me. Luigi can't be controlled in the overworld, you can't swap positions or hammers (it looks like there are some long gaps so maybe I can do the helicopter thing later), you can't press B to use Luigi in battle, the load times for battles is just a little long, and it stutters constantly.
Over than that it's a good RPG experience so far but I can't help but constantly think "man if I were playing Superstar Saga or Inside Story none of these issues would be happening."
@Haruki_NLI Go ahead, I don't think there needs to be any sort of "justification" for pirating stuff. I personally don't pirate modern games; not because I have anything against it morally, it's just easier to pay for them. Many other people will do anything to save a buck/get better performance.
I will agree that it's sad how the PS5 is already starting to get blurry on games, that's why I've got my 30th edition Pro on the way.
There will always be people pirating stuff, I know a big reason for many people is how poorly some games run on the Switch, maybe the Switch 2 will help fix that.
@Simone93 It's fun on the first play but it offers practically no challenge/satisfaction in its gameplay going back. It's like a puzzle game more than a platformer, what's the point of solving puzzles you already know the answers to
I'm starting with a 6. It does a lot of things differently, for better or for worse but it's a good time. Lots of stuttering and small frame drops but that's to be expected of the Switch. Music and combat is fun but why oh why did they change Luigi's controls so much.
Metal Slug fans beware! This is a fantastic game that captures the vibes of Metal Slug perfectly, with lots of depth to its combat and a fun artstyle with lots of characters and references from the series. A very fun revival of the series, I've already put in many hours on my Steam Deck oled. The "tactics" part takes a while to get used to but once you figure out upgrades and adrenaline it becomes very satisfying to land multiple sync attacks in a row. The game stays difficult which is perfect as it actually requires you to sit and think about your actions.
On top of that, it's only $25. Really good price for a really good game, was worth the 3+ year wait as a Metal Slug fan.
This has been my most anticipated release (besides Final Fantasy VII Rebirth) for some time now and apparently it's only $25?? Hope the campaign isn't incredibly short, I'm looking forward to taking my time with this.
I've been so busy that I haven't gotten around to trying it even though I got in, but I can definitely admire what they're going for here. Curious if it will keep its design or if they will create a new IP
The biggest feature I actually use with NSO has to be the cloud saves, I take my Oled on the go and leave my base switch in the dock.
But I'm still subbed to the expansion pack just in case I ever want to play an F-Zero game and for the Mario Kart DLC as well, and now I'm part of the playtest in a few days so I've got that perk as well.
Honestly I'm thinking they might let people pick a first party Nintendo game to keep for free if you sub to the expansion pack, with a list of options like Mario U Deluxe, DK Tropical Freeze, Arms, maybe Astral Chain? Some of the earlier games that are still good but have "better" alternatives or sequels at this point.
@Kiwi_Unlimited Actually, that's probably going to end up being more difficult for Pokémon to win, Palworld I feel has already established itself as its own unique concept.
I was a big fan of them making GameCube controllers with the original adapter, then relying on a USB adapter to make them work. That way I can use my new controller with my original GameCube.
If it was just as simple as a feature, I don't think it would be up for as long as it is, plus they're calling it a "playtest." The design of the graphic also screams "nso game menu" to me.

Wow, that one's actually a big deal. As far as I know, the only rerelease of the original was on the Astro City Mini.

Yeah obviously the resolution is maxed but at half the framerate they could really fix it if they so desired.

Re: Nintendo's Black Friday Offerings Includes Discounts On Games, Joy-Con, And More
I got Pikmin 1+2 for $25 at my local Walmart a few months ago and still haven't even booted it up, one day I'll get to it.
Odyssey for $30 is not surprising but man no DLC? It was already one of the weaker 3D Marios to go back to, it could've used some more content.
