In case you missed it, Nintendo's new smartphone app 'Nintendo Music' has a spoiler prevention feature.
If you don't want special moments in certain games revealed before you've actually got the chance to play them, then you might want to activate this feature.
From the top right corner of the app, click on your user icon, enter the settings, and then scroll down to the spoiler block option. From here, you'll be able to add a game to this list and the tracks from this title will no longer be displayed in the app.
Once you've activated the spoiler block for a certain game, you will need to unblock spoilers for this same title in order for all of its songs to be displayed again. You can do this by once again entering the spoiler prevention menu in the settings, or by manually searching the game in the app to unblock it.

The app tells you on startup
Here's hoping the inclusion of this means we'll see some RPGs down the line...
Never thought of music as a spoiler...but Good on Nintendo to actually be this considerate 👍
Great, I haven’t played Nintendogs yet, wouldn’t want anybody to spoil the ending for me!
A good feature. I'm sure certain games have e.g. "Ganon returns" or "dry bones Bowser" as songs, which would spoil a game if I hadn't played it
Really like this addition! There's loads of game where I'm itching to listen to a certain track before I finish the game, but knowing YouTube, searching for it could lead me to a video with spoilers in the thumbnail. I'd love for other sites to have something like this (Even though it'd be far too complicated to implement, especially on YouTube.) Still, it's really nice to have a way to vibe with the music without ruining the experience. God only knows when the next brand new Xenoblade comes out, I'll want to listen to that OST spoiler-free ASAP.
This makes me wonder if Nintendo will add a new game like Mario & Luigi: Brothership soon after its launch. With a spoiler setting, why not? They might want to give enough players enough time to play through the game first, but I know it won't be long until I'll be wanting to listen to it on there!
@IceClimbersMain Every Xenoblade OST should have been on here from the start!
i think what makes this especially important is how each song comes with a related screenshot. could easily spoil a character, location, or story beat in a game

I mean, I’m happy this exist but so far not a lot of the games featured on this app are really narrative heavy. If they end up adding the Emio soundtrack or something like that down the road, I can imagine this would be a useful function. But SPOILER ALERT, you tend to fight Ganon in Zelda games…
@OctoCallie20 Looks like someone was spoiled to me
Pretty good idea.
@Notsoavid you fight ganon in Zelda? Come on, man, spoilers!

@OctoCallie20 Yep, music can be illegally downloaded for free as MP3s just as games can be downloaded illegally for free.
Any other new information?
Also... MP3s... in 2024...?
lol some of these comment’s logic is funny
“I can do X, Y, and Z to get it for free! So it shouldn’t cost money! Why $20 a year that translates to less than $2 a month? Scam!”
You can tell how some people are so used to pirating and stealing crap for while that they are incredibly decencitized on what is considered a “scam” or not. I bet they think paying internet is a scam because you can steal your neighbor’s WiFi code.
@OctoCallie20 you figured out how to download music? Proud of you champ
@Arawn93 I can always tell the quality of the poster by how many posts they have removed...
@Bizzyb I'm that weird individual who thinks they could be considered such. Certain pieces of music just have that much more impact when you hear them at just the right time for the first time.
I'd like to argue that hearing "Engage the Enemy" for the first time in Xenoblade Chronicles DE is part of what helped me really get hooked into that game. And there's lots more music tracks in games which just gave me a real kick upon first hearing them in just the right, intended moment.
@Yosher That could be the biggest reasoning why they hate people using their music on YouTube!
I have really fond memories of listening to the BOTW soundtrack, and then hunting down all the villages in game. Lurelin has a great track, but it's so well hidden!!! Had to scout the entire coast! 😂🤎
I love the jokes, but for most Kirby games and Tears of the Kingdom: turn that thing on! 😂🤎
Aren’t all these songs on Youtube? I don’t get the fuss.
@AnonyQ I agree, but instead of just hiding the who game, wouldhiding 50% be an even better option.. when you're playing a game, you might really want to hear the soundtrack
@DiamondJim “the fuss” may have something to do with the following:
Maybe you could think of some more reasons if you thought harder about it.
@romanista sure, but who is to judge what a spoiler might be? There was someone on here a while back that got quite annoyed about the mere mention of link being (partially) playable in echoes of wisdom...
@garfreek LOL I think I just accidentally stumbled upon Lurelin in both BotW and TotK actually. It is a little hidden. And yeah the music there is pretty nice.
@BongoBongo You certainly raise good points however as I have YouTube premium ads are not a problem. I get that not everyone has YouTube premium. I create my own playlist which has much, much, much, much more Nintendo tracks on YouTube than this app. If you like it great, I just think it’s very mid tbh.
That added feature is an epic addition that most people probably wouldn't have thought of. I appreciate that.
One thing I'd like them to do, though seems unlikely, is that the app keeps track of the games you're playing on Switch and gives you an option to unlock the game's OST as you play through them.
But this is certainly a nice option to have.
@Bizzyb I never thought of it as a spoiler, but just recently I resolved to finish "A Link Between Worlds" (finally!)...liked the music so much I downloaded it, and started listening to it.
But then I realized I didn't want to hear the boss music until I had actually faced them in battle (let alone see the titles, lol).
So...I guess I like Nintendo being considerate and thinking of this.
