Re: Best Nintendo Switch 2 Cases To Carry And Protect Your Console

IceClimbersMain

Since this article doesn't seem to include a review, I bought the official one for $40 and it is not very good.

Sure it works but at $40 it has very minimal protection, and is only less than an inch slimmer than Power A cases that are half the price, do a much better job, hold more games, and look better in general. The screen protector is also not good.

Re: Poll: So, Did You Manage To Get A Switch 2 Pre-Order In? (North America)

I bought two Mario Kart bundles (one for me and one for a friend who couldn't get the site to work last night), a pro controller, a case, and some Joy-con wheels.

Best Buy I ended up lucking out on with their "bundles" where they packed in both the Mario Kart edition with some Joy-Con wheels, but the queue for it seemed to be much less than just the system itself. The accessories and other system I was able to get from Walmart.

Re: Opinion: Steam Deck Fans Are Seriously Underestimating The Switch 2

IceClimbersMain

I guess this is revenge for all us Steam Deck Oled owners trashing the Switch lol.

But still, I think that the Switch 2 vs the Steam Deck has gone from "just get a Deck" with the Switch 1 to "it depends."

The Deck still does a LOT of things the Switch 2 will never do. It allows for any controller to be used, you can emulate any system you want, you can stream from your PC, PS5, Xbox Cloud, etc.

You can fully customize your themes and control schemes, game artwork, directly limit the voltage and frame limits, no online subscription is required and the games are almost always cheaper on Steam than on console.

I'll still be picking up a Switch 2, but I haven't touched my Switch Oled since I picked up my Deck Oled. I now expect my usage ratio to be 70:30 favoring the Deck until the Switch 2 gets some better exclusives.

Re: Is The Switch 2 A Steam Deck Killer? Digital Foundry Dives Deep

I actually don't think it's that silly to compare the two, as I haven't touched my Switch Oled since I bought my Steam Deck Oled.

Now my opinion has gone from "just buy a Deck" to "it depends on what you want" which is WAY better than I was expecting for the Switch 2. 1080p 120 fps and 4k docked is insane, but I have a feeling that will only be for hyper-optimized Nintendo exclusives (that won't be on Deck anyways).

I wonder if we'll see Switch 1 sales start to go up again in April with the recent rumors regarding the C button on the Switch 2.

Reportedly, the C stands for Connect and one of its uses will be to pair a second Switch (original, Lite, Oled, 2) to use as a secondary screen/gamepad like the Wii U. Maybe for DS and 3DS virtual console, or bringing Gamepad features back to Wii U ports.

@Zeebor15 At that price you're looking at one of the Recharged titles, my personal favorites are Yars, Quantum and Gravitar.

@Wisestfool On PC there's been a Humble Bundle for $20 that includes all ten Recharged games AND Atari 50, but on Switch it actually costs less to buy them all individually as opposed to the bundles ($37 vs $40, if my math is right). Plus you get Gold Points atm.

Re: Star Wars: Hunters Servers To Close Later This Year

IceClimbersMain

I have to wonder if this methodology of games is actually making them money. Is the initial dump of players and money at launch enough to cover a year's worth of updates and servers plus the original dev time?

Reminds me of that mobile anime gacha that announced a western release, while also announcing the server closure of said western release slated a few months later in the same tweet lol.

Re: Final Fantasy Pixel Remasters Land New Update As Series Passes 200 Million Sales

@Yosher The very first Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster is a VERY good game, and it's not even a "for its time" thing.

The music's iconic, the gameplay is very much Final Fantasy, and the difficulty is consistent (until the final boss where you might need an additional hour of grinding). Plus it only takes about 10-12 hours on a blind playthrough, probably quicker if you up the xp gain.

Re: Nintendo Places Outside Top 20 In Metacritic's 15th Annual Game Publisher Rankings

IceClimbersMain

Yeah I really haven't touched my Switch for the better part of a year now, just for lack of big hits. Mario and Luigi and TTYD lost me within 10 hours, Jamboree was fun with friends but nobody else has it so we gotta schedule hangouts, and there really wasn't anything else that even interested me enough to buy.

Actually scratch that, I really loved Emio and my Alarmo but that's about it for 2024. Nice to see Digital Eclipse so high too.

Re: Modders Successfully Install A 1080p OLED Screen Into The Switch Lite

IceClimbersMain

The biggest reason why the Switch needs the dock for 1080p is because it's severely underclocked. Nintendo just prioritizes battery life and cooling over performance, instead of letting the player decide their balance.

I'm no expert but if you're going this far on a Switch Lite, it could be possible to adjust the limiters on the hardware to allow the Lite to act as if it's docked.
