Re: Save Up To 80% On Atari, NightDive, And Digital Eclipse Games On Switch (US)

@Zeebor15 At that price you're looking at one of the Recharged titles, my personal favorites are Yars, Quantum and Gravitar.

@Wisestfool On PC there's been a Humble Bundle for $20 that includes all ten Recharged games AND Atari 50, but on Switch it actually costs less to buy them all individually as opposed to the bundles ($37 vs $40, if my math is right). Plus you get Gold Points atm.

Re: Star Wars: Hunters Servers To Close Later This Year

I have to wonder if this methodology of games is actually making them money. Is the initial dump of players and money at launch enough to cover a year's worth of updates and servers plus the original dev time?

Reminds me of that mobile anime gacha that announced a western release, while also announcing the server closure of said western release slated a few months later in the same tweet lol.

Re: Final Fantasy Pixel Remasters Land New Update As Series Passes 200 Million Sales

@Yosher The very first Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster is a VERY good game, and it's not even a "for its time" thing.

The music's iconic, the gameplay is very much Final Fantasy, and the difficulty is consistent (until the final boss where you might need an additional hour of grinding). Plus it only takes about 10-12 hours on a blind playthrough, probably quicker if you up the xp gain.

Re: Nintendo Places Outside Top 20 In Metacritic's 15th Annual Game Publisher Rankings

Yeah I really haven't touched my Switch for the better part of a year now, just for lack of big hits. Mario and Luigi and TTYD lost me within 10 hours, Jamboree was fun with friends but nobody else has it so we gotta schedule hangouts, and there really wasn't anything else that even interested me enough to buy.

Actually scratch that, I really loved Emio and my Alarmo but that's about it for 2024. Nice to see Digital Eclipse so high too.

Re: Modders Successfully Install A 1080p OLED Screen Into The Switch Lite

IceClimbersMain

The biggest reason why the Switch needs the dock for 1080p is because it's severely underclocked. Nintendo just prioritizes battery life and cooling over performance, instead of letting the player decide their balance.

I'm no expert but if you're going this far on a Switch Lite, it could be possible to adjust the limiters on the hardware to allow the Lite to act as if it's docked.

Re: Talking Point: Should We Actually Get Excited For Pokémon Day This Year?

IceClimbersMain

I'm a big gen-two guy, Crystal's my favorite game in the series but Let's Go Eevee is the only 3d main series game I've touched (though touched is an understatement since I put in over 700 hours for a Shiny Living Dex).

I would love to see a Let's Go 2 Johto, LGPE had good music, artstyle, and a really immersive catching system and especially the shiny-hunting was the best it's ever been. Plus the game actually looked good and ran at 60 fps, which is something the series just does not see anymore.

Re: Talking Point: Why An LCD Screen Isn't The End Of The World For Switch 2

IceClimbersMain

No Oled is not a dealbreaker for me but I'll be there for the updated model day one.

I feel like with the Switch and Steam Deck OLEDs, there are a lot of other reasons to upgrade your LCD model to an OLED one (they have more storage and other upgrades) but honestly I'd buy an entire handheld console again just for an OLED screen upgrade, it is so worth it.

Re: Talking Point: What Do We Actually Want From 'Mario Kart 9'?

@KidSparta What's funny is in MK8 on the Wii U, the invincibility time was incredibly short. Now, not only did Deluxe and the updates to it extend that timer, but invincibility after getting hit is now a hidden "stat" that is different between characters and vehicles.

I believe the heavier/faster you are the longer your invincibility period is, up to a couple of seconds. Pretty crazy.

Re: Random: Astro Bot "Almost Outdid Nintendo At Its Own Game", Jokes Reggie

@Hellburner918 Mario Odyssey was way too easy, the capture ability is cool but it completely invalidates 90% of the enemies. Same with the cappy jump and movement tech, it's cool but it just makes the game too easy. I think I died once the whole game and it was in the darker side gauntlet.

I actually find it surprising that you like the bosses, as I think they've got lots of critics. The bunnies are bland and easy, the octopus and wiggler are tedious, and the dragon and Bowser are cool but then again when ISN'T a dragon and Bowser cool lol.

The worlds are actually my biggest issue with Odyssey besides the difficulty, there's just no platforming. Even in the sub-areas it's typically capture-based or just too easy. Astro Bot has actual platforming and good challenge.
