I mean, my Steam Deck Oled has completely replaced my Switch Oled at this point but it is also twice the price and not nearly as well known. This competition comes down to branding, not product features.
Picking up Stories from Sol on Steam as it's $7 bucks cheaper and I can leave a nice review for the devs. Definitely a game I've been looking forward to for a while.
I'm a big gen-two guy, Crystal's my favorite game in the series but Let's Go Eevee is the only 3d main series game I've touched (though touched is an understatement since I put in over 700 hours for a Shiny Living Dex).
I would love to see a Let's Go 2 Johto, LGPE had good music, artstyle, and a really immersive catching system and especially the shiny-hunting was the best it's ever been. Plus the game actually looked good and ran at 60 fps, which is something the series just does not see anymore.
Niantic is definitely following through on their master plan. Collect data on real world objects and locations, then create a giant virtual map of the world with AI.
I just wanna be able to buy my games so I can play them offline. It is way too often that I leave the house and realize I forgot to boot up the app so it can check the internet connection. It should do that without me having to manually check it every time.
I feel like 40k actually isn't bad for accessory manufacturers IF there weren't going to be even more Switch 2 units floating around in the next few months. Who's to say someone doesn't stumble upon 100 of them in a month.
Genuinely dumbfounded as to why Strikers GC is above Charged. I legitimately think that Mario Strikers Charged on the Wii is the greatest, most competitive 1v1 video game to ever exist, it's just perfect.
I'm just waiting on that eventual Star Fox Zero port, remake or not, once the controls click with you it's a really cool experience and the best Star Fox imo. Runs perfectly on the Steam Deck.
I, Robot was definitely an interesting arcade game to "Llamasoftize" and I love it. Really curious to see if they're going to remake that drawing side "game" that was also included on the original cabinets.
Shame the VR is exclusive to PS5, same with Akka Arrh, I've got a PSVR2 but these releases are much cheaper on Steam.
No Oled is not a dealbreaker for me but I'll be there for the updated model day one.
I feel like with the Switch and Steam Deck OLEDs, there are a lot of other reasons to upgrade your LCD model to an OLED one (they have more storage and other upgrades) but honestly I'd buy an entire handheld console again just for an OLED screen upgrade, it is so worth it.
Am I crazy or did Sony just patent a camera that is aimed at the player's fingers/hand and predicts the next inputs as well?
Maybe AI input rollback will be a next-gen feature. Kinda joking but it would be an insane coincidence for these two companies to both patent something so similar.
For sure. It's not like Nintendo isn't going to be releasing any more games on the Switch as soon as the Switch 2 is out. Sony put God of War Ragnarok on the PS4 in 2022, and they're still releasing MLB on there as well. I bet we'll see lots of ports and one last Mario game.
@KidSparta What's funny is in MK8 on the Wii U, the invincibility time was incredibly short. Now, not only did Deluxe and the updates to it extend that timer, but invincibility after getting hit is now a hidden "stat" that is different between characters and vehicles.
I believe the heavier/faster you are the longer your invincibility period is, up to a couple of seconds. Pretty crazy.
I actually think that these two share more of a market than people think, many third party games that I would have bought on Switch, or heck even these rereleases like Donkey Kong, I'll just buy on Steam or emulate the originals.
I haven't touched my Switch Oled in months, the Steam Deck Oled has completely replaced it.
@Olmectron Most of the bosses in Astro Bot had a phase two that is pretty unlike most Mario bosses. The snake boss is what I remember most, it went from fighting you on a platform to you jumping around on its body as it blazes through a jungle. Mario bosses turn red and move a bit faster.
@Hellburner918 Mario Odyssey was way too easy, the capture ability is cool but it completely invalidates 90% of the enemies. Same with the cappy jump and movement tech, it's cool but it just makes the game too easy. I think I died once the whole game and it was in the darker side gauntlet.
I actually find it surprising that you like the bosses, as I think they've got lots of critics. The bunnies are bland and easy, the octopus and wiggler are tedious, and the dragon and Bowser are cool but then again when ISN'T a dragon and Bowser cool lol.
The worlds are actually my biggest issue with Odyssey besides the difficulty, there's just no platforming. Even in the sub-areas it's typically capture-based or just too easy. Astro Bot has actual platforming and good challenge.
I would love a world where all three companies have their own 3D platforming mascot. Sony already proved they could do it, and Microsoft is just sitting on their lovable Scrimblo already
It doesn't 'bother' me persay, but it did make it much less exciting. New Mario Kart more than made up for it though, hopefully we won't have to wait until April to see what third party games are coming to the system as well.
@jcgonzmo I actually do think that anyone who hasn't played Breath of the Wild should just play Totk instead, but that's because I do think that Totk is just better Botw.
This is different though, because at least the level designs are different.
My Switch case is about the same thickness and nearly the same length and height as my Steam Deck case. These consoles haven't truly been portable since they fit in a pocket.
They're literally required for Warioware Move It, but if I ever need to play a game with a single Joycon (8 player smash) I use them to make hitting the shoulder buttons easier.
@WhiteTrashGuy Yeah I also have a Portal (30th Anniversary) and it is shockingly good. Somehow makes my Steam Deck Oled screen feel small and that 1080p makes a world of difference.
That laser next to the connecter slot is interesting, maybe we'll see it used as a mouse.
The ONLY thing that isn't practically a given with Nintendo that I want out of this system is an OLED screen out the gate. I know they'll have a new 3D Mario, they confirmed backwards compatibility, now all I need is an OLED screen day one
64 games and 239 hours. Definitely much less since I got my Steam Deck. Top games are Smash Ultimate, Overlord Escape from Nazarick, Emio, and Mario Kart.
I'm watching it in hopes of some Squenix stuff, and Bandai saved the reveal of the next Tekken 8 character for the game awards, instead of this big recent Tekken tournament where they're usually announced at, so I'm thinking a guest character.
My favorite has got to be Metal Slug Tactics. Played it on Steam Deck but it really has had a hold on me. The first new game I've bought in some time where I put over 10 hours in in a month (which is a LOT for me, I've been playing Persona 5 Royal for a year and am only 40 hours in).
Fun gameplay, good art design, nice references and replayability. Easily a 10/10 at $25 (now if we were talking any game, my goty would be FF7 Rebirth)
I don't think that the argument that "consoles are going to be dead" means that we're all going to be on PCs, I think it just means that by the next generation we're truly going to see the feasible limits for what a video game can be. The PS5 is already being pushed to its limits, but the PS5 Pro can do 4k 60fps, 4k 120fps, 8k 30 fps, and even 8k 60 fps.
Where do you go beyond 4k 120 fps and 8k 60 fps? We're at the limit at what the HDMI cable can provide, and practically no TVs have Display Port. I think the PS6 will be upgradable, a "PC" in a sense.
Now if Xbox knew what they were doing, they would simply make the next Xbox more powerful than the PS6. They already said that the next Xbox will be the biggest leap in graphical power. We haven't really had a console that's more powerful than the other since the PS2 days, give people reason to buy an Xbox.
I actually really like my Alarmo, it works much better than you would think. Even just waving my hand to trigger the motion sensor and pause the alarm for a few minutes is enough to wake me up more than hitting snooze on a phone.
Wish they would give us that Mario Kart 8 update though...
I grew out of my Splatoon phase before 3 came out, so this is music that I'm much more familiar with. Might give the Spicy Calamari Inkantation a whirl
@N00BiSH I feel like Brothership also has had mixed reactions, maybe even more so than Infinite. That's where the "disappointing" sales numbers come in.
Also, Infinite came out in 2017, and it was confirmed that talks for the Marvel collection started in 2021/2022. They went dormant for longer than Mario and Luigi did.
I'm enjoying my time with it but dang it just has too many little things that bother me. Luigi can't be controlled in the overworld, you can't swap positions or hammers (it looks like there are some long gaps so maybe I can do the helicopter thing later), you can't press B to use Luigi in battle, the load times for battles is just a little long, and it stutters constantly.
Over than that it's a good RPG experience so far but I can't help but constantly think "man if I were playing Superstar Saga or Inside Story none of these issues would be happening."

Probably one of the weakest so far as there was just nothing for me.
I was so excited when I saw the gameboys, and the classic music, but then they showed the ds and 3ds and I knew it was just another nostalgia montage.
