@NintendoByNature it's not even that short given the type of JRPG it is. Heck Paper Mario itself doesn't last for more than 20 hours for the Main Story.
This game intrigues me so much and it looks so amazingly good, but then I remember that I played Stories 2 and I think it has the most boring, unappealing and worst Battle System I've ever seen in a JRPG.
It's basically a Paper, Rock Scissors game where you have to remember the sequence of enemy attacks. And it's always the same for the entire fight.
No planning, no strategy, no skills.
Just remember the order of attacks.
This looks really cool and I'm glad is not yet another mediocre"Earthbond inspired game". But I need to play Escape from Ever after before this and still have a lot of other stuff.
@Cathalm it's probably going to sell less anyway, at least going by logic.
I mean, Age of Imprisonment is a spin-off of a sequel that sold less that the predecessor, I don't think the spin-off has a chance to beat the sales of its spin-off predecessor as well.
Also this is much more on a niche games aimed at the most dedicated Zelda fans, most sales will come regardless of how many Millions units the switch 2 has sold, as most of the die hard fans already got a switch 2.
@mikegamer Namco Bandai has been extremely lazy with these "Remaster". They're basically Port that runs at higher resolution natively because the consoles support it.
@Itsashame I agree with you on the franchise quality. It's kind of been a meme to criticize them without even playing them, but except for a couple of entries (Tennis Open was a bit barebones and Ultra Smash was pretty much a demo for what I've seen online) the series has always been high quality.
Anyway, back on my original post, it's exactly because I already spent so long playing this games, that I wish they would change things up.
The story mode hyped me at the beginning (now this is probably going to sound like a silly complaint) but I can't stress enough how much I dislike the idea of playing as a toddler.
It just put me off.
@Itsashame I've been playing Mario Tennis since the N64 and GBC. Only one missed was Ultra Smash (pretty much the same for Mario Golf but for Super Rush). I probably have multiple thousands of hours on the whole series.
This franchise has been pretty much stale since the GameCube/GBA games (tough Aces base gameplay was good, but the mechanics to be able to counter the balls from anywhere killed my enjoyment).
@batmanbud2 the director literally said that making RPG was tiring in a interview about Dark Dawn.
The man have been making the same Mario Sport game for 20 years and forgot that's usually you can't just recicle everything, add a couple of new modes/characters and be done with it.
They went out of their way to finally make a decent Story mode again (at least apparently) and they butchered everything by forcing you to play as the worst characters in the franchise history, that alone killed any interest for it.
@Yoshi3 thank you
So many people clearly misunderstanding on purpose, because they don't want to actually deal with a conversation of how bad the design of the locations is.
The problem is not the linearity by itself.
Most places are just corridors connecting square/circular rooms. Just finished replaying Prime 1 and it's so boring the rooms design in Prime 4. Most of the time you're going straight one way without looking back (or you go straight to the end and then get back, like Ice Area).
I said it before in another news. The only reason why I accept this mess is because it was clearly a troubled project that tried to merge the original Metroid Prime 4 and the vision Retro had for the game, it's a mix of half baked ideas and they tried to glue them togheter and create something.
It's still an enjoyable game at the end of the day, but please let's not accept this as a baseline of what a good Metroid game is.
Btw I have no idea why some people are saying that with time people will like this game more, if anything, after the "being the new thing" passed, more and more people are going to see the mediocrity of it
Has anyone actually played it on NSO?
I started it this morning and played through to the end, amazing game as always (played it to death as a kid, and I had it both on DS and 3DS), but I had to use the Save State because the Save of the game don't work. You can't even press on it in the pause screen.
@the_beaver i'm not even talking about the quality, if you're having fun with it I'm genuinely happy for you.
It's just that the entire game feels like random ideas put togheter without much cohesion.
Every location is self contained.
The desert feels like it was put with glue to connect everything, the bike barely has any unique and interesting use and feels like an afterthought and the story, without spoiling too much since you have not finished it from what I understand, feels like 2 different stories from 2 different games that were fused togheter, both of them barely touched (I could go into more depth but don't want to spoil anything to you).
The entire base camp felt the same to me. From the way it present itself it felt like something that would have had more importance to the overall game, but you need to go there just for the Cannon Upgrade.
Probably the original Prime 4 was a completely different game and when Retro came in, they tried to stick togheter the game they wanted to make and the material the previous studio made.
Of course this is 100% speculation of my part, but I wouldn't be surprised if this was the case.

Re: Rayman: 30th Anniversary Edition Is Getting A Physical Switch Release
They managed to ruin a collection of 5 rom of 25 years old game. Big gaming company are always the best.
Also the Soundtrack was the main reason to replay this game on the PS1 version, they're crazy if they changed it.
@EarthboundBenjy "Thank you for showing us that a basic game feature doesn't work, unfortanately it's none of our business"

Re: Poll: So, Should Pokémon Red And Blue Return For The 30th Anniversary?
Never liked the remake that much. There's something terribly off about that game OST, it literally unpleasant to hear for me.
Prefer the originals for that alone.
Re: Rayman Really Is Back, According To The Series Creator
Please give us an option to have the original difficilty if you decide to make it easier.
Re: Review: Mario Tennis Fever (Switch 2) - Slim For Singles, But An Addictive Core Gives It Online Legs
Mario Tennis having the same problems for the last 4 games is quite ridiculous.
Re: Nintendo Store App Receives A Small But Welcome Update
@Nintoz yeah I have no idea why the player data would be on the App for the store and not in the App with your profile.
Still nice that it's there and I love checking it from time to time, but Nintendo can really make odd decisions sometimes.
Re: Turok Is Back, And It's Bringing The Hunt To Switch 2 Later This Year
@BulkSlash if I remember correctly, Turok is not an actual name but only a title given to someone.
Re: Konami And M2 Announce New Goemon Switch Collection, Here Are The 13 Retro Titles Included
@Krisi oh yes, I tend to forget that even existed. I think it's one of the few I have not played.
Re: Konami And M2 Announce New Goemon Switch Collection, Here Are The 13 Retro Titles Included
@Mana_Knight I think it's more likely a second collection with the 3D Games.
Re: Konami And M2 Announce New Goemon Switch Collection, Here Are The 13 Retro Titles Included
@Krisi did I forget something? Mistical Goemon are the GB one and the first on N64.
The one on the SNES is "Legend of the Mystical Ninja".
Re: Turok Is Back, And It's Bringing The Hunt To Switch 2 Later This Year
Beat the Turok Trilogy last year, so this is a bit hype, really curious on how it will turns out.
Re: Konami And M2 Announce New Goemon Switch Collection, Here Are The 13 Retro Titles Included
@EarthboundBenjy There's 2 Full 20/30 hours JRPG in this collection. I'm really skeptical they're even thinking about translating this.
Re: Konami And M2 Announce New Goemon Switch Collection, Here Are The 13 Retro Titles Included
@subechin they're probably going to make a second collection with the 3D Games.
Re: Konami And M2 Announce New Goemon Switch Collection, Here Are The 13 Retro Titles Included
This is definitely not leaving Japan. They're not translating about 10 Games just for a collection.
Yet, nice that they remember his existence I guess.

Who knows when I'll come around to get it.

Re: Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds Fails To Meets Sega's Expectations
@Metazoxan yeah this is a thing that many developers or publisher don't understand.
I like Spongebob, but I don't care about playing him in Sonic.
I like 2B, but I don't care about playing as her in a Fighting game of another series.
I like Persona 5, but I don't care about playing as Joker in Smash.
I don't remember a single time when I bought something for a special Guest character.
It's only a nice plus if I'm already interested in the base game.
Re: ICYMI: Paper Mario-Styled RPG 'Escape From Ever After' Has Launched On Switch
I really want to pick it up, it looks great and the style is gorgeus.
If it's half as good as Bug Fables, this is gonna be really good.

Re: FUR Squadron Phoenix Brings All The Star Fox Vibes To Switch Next Month
@Chocobo_Shepherd I laughed more than I should have, but you're not entirely wrong.lol
It's sad how anything "Furry" has been coopted by weirdos online.
Re: Hyrule Warriors: Age Of Imprisonment Surpasses 1 Million Copies Sold
@dardel if I'm not mistaken, Age of Calamity is the best selling Musou ever. More than 3M copies sold.
I guess it's natural that a side story of a sequel that sold less than the predecessor sold even less.
Re: Talking Point: Metroid Prime 4 And The Burden Of Being 'Good Enough'
I hate this idea that the problem of Metroid Prime 4 is that it's not "Good enough".
It just an absolutely painfully average game in every regards except the graphic.

@Ashina There's not even a Switch 2 version, as far as I know

That is the question.
Re: UK Charts: Metroid Prime 4: Beyond Clings To The Top 40
If it was a better game it could have definitely brought the franchise out of it's niche.
But the game is already divise in it's own fanbase so this is already more than I thought.
Re: Konami Appears To Have A New Switch Game In The Works
@Varoennauraa a translated collection of the 4 SNES Goemon games would be really nice.

The Mines being the most egregious example of it.
Re: Nintendo Suggests Metroid Prime 4's Tortured Development Meant It Was "Divorced From The Changing Of Times"
@robotreptile yeah, every new location is worse that the one before.
It becomes more linear, with always less and less exploration as the game progresses. And the level design become worse.

I have the third game since it's release but never got around to play it.
The second one felt like the perfect ending.
Re: Cyberpunk 2077's Massive Switch 2 eShop Discount Was An "Error"
@cedarhyped it must be an obvious error to be valid.
Like something that usually costs 1000€ with the shown price being 10€, or something like that.
Re: Cyberpunk 2077's Massive Switch 2 eShop Discount Was An "Error"
@jsty3105 I live in Italy, and I work in a store.
Here you are 100% forced to sell it for that price, I thought it was the same elsewhere, but I was obviously wrong.
Re: Cyberpunk 2077's Massive Switch 2 eShop Discount Was An "Error"
@cedarhyped this is honestly so strange.
In phisical stores you have to sell it for the price the customer saw it, doesn't matter if it was wrong.
Re: Feature: The Best Hidden Gems And Underrated Switch 1 & 2 Games Of 2025
I'll probably get Ruffy and the Riveside before the sales ends. That intrigued me already when it was announced.

@Sebos you can smell the development hell through every location of the game.
Re: Users Are Reporting "Greatly Reduced" Input Lag On Zelda: Wind Waker For NSO
Wait so the only reason I sucked at F-Zero GX was the input delay, now everything make sense.
Now I'll get back to it and I'll do every Story Mission on the first Try. 💯
Re: Multiple Switch Games Have Received Switch 2 Compatibility Fixes
@darkswabber yeah same here.
Played it 3 months ago and didn't have any issues.

Please fix A Hat in Time.
The game always crash upon entering the third world.
