Im definitely interested if thats the case. Between xbox and pc, I probably have nearly 1000 games, so itll be nice to have them all available to play on a single console. Obviously, price will play a big role in to whether I consider purchasing.

So it will be able to play the Neptunia games that are on PC, even though Microsoft usually doesn't allow those kinds of games on their platform?

Will probably be over $1000 USD though, if it has as much power as they are claiming 😜.

Why would anyone invest in a new Xbox console? The brand is treading water. I won't be surprised if this ultimately ends up canceled. Microsoft has a ton of money but investors/shareholders dictate what the company does.

what does a new Xbox even mean?
When I saw "Xbox Series X" all I thought was, that looks like Xbox One but bigger and more expensive.
Is this new one going to be biggerer, more expensiver, and now most likely digital-only?

I didn't even want XB One or XB Series X either.

Literally one game exists for XB One that I would like to have the ability to play one day: Rare Replay. Every other game that I might want to play exists on other platforms.

What's the point if they don't have any exclusive IPs to put on it?

We got an X Box Series X for half its original price three years after it came out as part of the Christmas sales and the games are much cheaper than Nintendo Switch 2 and Playstation 5 games. For example it costs $114 here to buy Cyberpunk 2077 Ultimate Edition on Nintendo Switch 2 when you can buy it on X Box Series X for $79. It used to be Nintendo had the cheapest games but now it is X Box and you can buy most new and upcoming games for $69-$79- with some even down to $48 and $58.

Eh, they've gotta show me a ***LOT*** to get me interested. I'm happy with my Switch 2 and I'm already looking at getting a Steam Machine or Steam Frame when those come out to run the better versions of some 3rd Party/Indie games. (Because let's be fr here is Lab Zero Games really gonna come back to make a Native Switch 2 version of Indivisible? No.)

This could be my console of choice for the next generation if PS6 doesn't have physical games. Steam is the only storefront I'd build a digital library on.

@Ability-King-KK Most games that used to come out on X Box came out on Playstations too and vice versa which was one of the things people used to praise both companies for compared to Nintendo and Sega which made most video games exclusive to their consoles. Now the companies are just screwing over people expecting us to buy all consoles to be able to play all games.

I hate that the timing of this announcement feels like just trying to build hype and buy good will for the new head before even a prototype is made.

Because why wouldn't this be something the old guard announced anytime before they left? It feels like we're another year or two away from seeing anything (assuming they're not gonna just slap the brand on another pre-made device...).

@Lone_Beagle by pc games they mean games that pc games. Like the next xbox will be a whole pc or something. Meaning you can probably play steam, epic game store, gog, and whatever pc game store natively on the device. And it also plays Xbox games. I don’t know how that will work. Cause running windows to play games is a hassle. Constantly needs updates drivers and other things that take away from fast pick up and play console gaming. If they don’t have a middle ground with the device it may be a failure out the gate. Well a bigger failure. Cause Xbox is not sitting high and price could definitely stop it from being mainstream which just adds to why they are even bothering to do this. They are pretty much third party right now.

They need to make their next console have backwards compatibility to play all games that were released on X Box, X Box 360, X Box One and X Box Series X. When consoles change to different cartridges and CDs it makes sense it is not going to play them but when X Box has always used CDs there is no excuse why they can't play all the games on the previous consoles going back to the first X Box console. We should be able to play The Simpsons Hit & Run for example on a new X Box.

Great for Xbox fans but I have zero excitement for this since I never cared about the Xbox brand. Nintendo and Sony are the only consoles I need.

@Kyloctopus I can't see consumers going back to them now. With so much digital content people wont just leave PS to go to Xbox like they used to. They lost the worst generation to lose when PS4 destroyed the Xbox One. Digital libraries make consumers more likely to stay with one brand. Sony will call it brand loyalty but I call it loyalty to spending, but either way who is going back to xbox to start fresh?

Well, Rog Ally X walked the path of Steam Deck (sans the competitive price that sets or at least used to set the latter apart), so I suppose a Windows take on Steam Machine was a natural followup.😄 Only time will tell how it goes, but "leading in performance" sounds like a premium price across the board, meaning that ports to Nintendo's more affordable and already robust hybrids should remain topical.

@SBandy1 to be fair, a PC in console dressing is pretty much what Xbox has been since its Gen 6 debut.

The real question is will it play its own games and not just PC and Xbox? If it doesn't had its own exclusives then it's not worth buying.

You know, like how Nintendo has Mario, Pokémon, Zelda, etc. Xbox doesn't have that anymore since they're just porting Halo, Gears of War, and their other IPs over to Switch, Playstation, or PC. There's literally no reason to own an Xbox console anymore if there's no exclusives for it.

@Ability-King-KK @Ability-King-KK They own Banjo Kazzoie, Conker's Bad Fur Day, Battletoads, Perfect Dark and many other Rare franchises and the upcoming Aniimo which a lot of Pokemon fans I know are interested in is only going to be on X Box Series X but they have wasted most of Rare franchises since they bought the company and a lot of people I know would buy a new X Box if they got new Banjo Kazooie and Conker's Bad Fur Day games on it. They need to push the Rare franchises again.

I will say though the cheap prices of X Box consoles and their games are one of the main reasons myself and others who have X Box Series X got it over Playstation 5 along with all the things they can do like play streaming services like Netflix, Disney +, Paramount +, Apple +, Prime Video, HBO Max, Tubi, Binge, You Tube, Stan etc, surf the internet on Internet browsers and use social media sites and write emails, lay albums, DVDs and Blu-Rays and play the radio etc as I mentioned above. Plus, I don't know how much money PCs cost in your country but they are dear as posion here to get a new PC with the latest video graphic cards to play the games an X Box Series X can play and can cost $2000-$5000 while you can get an X Box Series X for around $400 when they are on special which is often. It costs $700 to get a Switch 2 (Switch 1 was around $400 when it first came out here) and $749 for a Playstation 5 which costs over $1000 and were hard to get when it first came out.
