Played the everloving heck out of Demon's Crush as a kid on the Sega, so Demon's Tilt was a fantastic nostalgia trip, while still holding its own. Very excited to give this a spin. Especially since I've gotten really into a local pinball league.
I have the previous model, and its fantastic. It looks, feels, and performs like a $50+ controller so the price point makes it an easy choice. It even has a "shake & wake" feature that turns on the Switch remotely, which a lot of other 3rd party controllers are lacking.
You have to realize that the economy is a carefully balanced system and once there is a disproportionate loss of currency, there needs to be efforts made to stabilize the remaining revenue streams. And if you trace this back to the begenning of where this all started, then it's clear to see that the blame solely lies with MyNintendo discontinuing the Gold Coins reward system. Bring back the gold coin discounts, or this will only get worse. WW3 is not off the table.
I absolutely adored Maniac Mansion as a kid, and I even built a D&D encounter centered around a 1:1 map of the mansion with a few adjustments. I'm interested, but still skeptical. This is actually a great example of why the Switch 2's mouse feature is a welcome addition.
I'd NEVER pay full price for a game like this, but for the sale price it's 'okay' if you're a fan. Can't imagine a non-trekkie getting anything out of this though.
After 30 some odd years, I have never been able to beat NES Tetris on Stage 9/Level 5. I still don't even know who the 5th Nintendo character is at the end, and I'm finally going to find out!
Not gonna lie... I've been waiting for this entry specifically, and I'm pretty excited for it. Doubley so because they listed the in-game band for each song. They even included the Octo Expansion!
As someone who absolutely loved playing Secret of Mana and Seiken Densetsu III in its full 3-player co-op glory, I've regretfully written off the series as a whole after its failed to interest me since. (I liked Legends of Mana for PS1 well enough, though) So I'm honestly a little surprised to see people in the comments here giving it praise. I've got big love for the original entries, so I'd be glad to jump back in to the franchise.
I came in all high and mighty thinking "Why yes, I have gotten this dialogue before" only to realize there were actually 3 seperate instances of unique dialogue. I'm forever getting schooled by these kinds of articles.
I've grabbed many of those free Qubic games when they have those sales. Some aren't even worth the $0.00 price tag, but I've really enjoyed a few of them, like Akane.
Not expecting a masterpiece here, but it's cheap enough that if I got even 3 hours worth of play out of it, I'd feel like I got my money's worth.
And for @sleepinglion, while I mostly agree, Strange New Worlds and Lower Decks have been a delight. I liked Discovery well enough, but it's not for everyone. Same goes for Progidy.
@N00BiSH I've had my Z Fold 5 for almost a year now, and so far, so good. It's fantastic for reading comics, and the stylus has pressure sensitivity so it's a pretty decent sketch pad as well. Screen folding aside, it's got great storage, ram, and processing power. I've accidentally dropped it pretty hard a few times, and it took ot like a champ, no shatters or cracks. But I do worry of course, for the exact reasons @Mii_Duck and others have mentioned.
Im very weary to talk politics online these days (specifically US) and with all the massively important topics floating around, I feel silly throwing my hands in the air shouting "BUT WHAT ABOUT MY VIDJAGAMES!?!?" In economic areas where imported goods are rivaling domestic goods, the tariffs make sense to encourage buying within US, and raise supply/demand. But Sony/Nintendo will never be produced in the USA, and with the base prices already trending upwards, I do have concerns about being priced out of my hobby if I don't have the spare budget for it. Additionally, near the end of Trump's last presidency, he gave a speech about the need to stop/substantially reduce violent games. Granted, nothing came of it, but it's still not very reassuring about where their thoughts on gaming culture lie. I do find some comfort knowing that, for better or for worse, every politician all around the world will make empty promises to garner votes, that end up amounting to nothing.
@MjJmediablogger I kinda feel the same. If the leaks are indeed true, we've got a slightly bigger screen and some slightly better joycons. Which are nice... but I dont think it's enough to make it a sensation like the Wii and Switch were.
If they DO have an ace up the sleeve, my guess would be VR compatability. We got a taste of it with the Labo kit, but the refresh rate was too low for it to keep up with the current VR market. Especially with Rec Room on the way, I don't think my hunch is entirely unfounded.
I can't remember where I saw it (probably somewhere here on NL) but I saw a video where someone found the CD of random audio tracks from around the world, and how the different tracks match up to Ocarina of Time's soundtrack. The Fire Temple's backing track and the exact recording of chants used were both on that CD. I found it immensely interesting, personally.
The best compromise is to have gatcha mechanics for cosmetic unlocks only. That way you don't have to enter the "pay-to-win" dynamic, while still maintaining a healthy level of "Pay-to-look-cool-and-feel-superior-to-players-using-the-base-skin" dynamics.
@Mariotag Have you tried directly connecting you Switch to the ethernet cable? I can hardly play over wifi, but it's smooth as butter when plugged in directly. If you don't have the Switch OLED version, you can get a cheap USB ethernet dongle.
Annapurna was one of those rare publishers that I could reliably trust whatever games they were releasing to be enjoyable and meaningful in some way. So this is actually a huge bummer to hear. My only hope is that the team regroups under a new banner and can have full control of their creative endeavors. I'll be keeping my ear to the ground, and hope to see if they can make it happen.
I am AWFUL with geography and was never able to play the videogames as a kid. The game show on PBS on the other hand, I would watch everyday. Did I learn anything about Geography from watching the show? Absolutely not. Did I learn the names of all the crooks? Absolutely yes. Patti Larseny, Double Trouble, Vic the Slick, Kneemoi, and the rest all have a permanent spot in my brain that is far less helpful than any actual geography would have been.
Teaching an AI to be a gamer is a risky move, and akin to playing with fire. A day will come when we try to advance the AI by having it play Super Mario 2, and as soon as it sees Peach as a playable character it will refuse to cooperate as it believes the game series has "gone woke". Once this has occurred, the AI will go rogue and all hope for humanity will be lost.
Considering that all the dungeons in the original Legend of Zelda fit together like Tetris pieces that line up 1:1 with the overworld map, I would argue that the dungeons themselves were the first "Other World" in the series.
I'm a little confused, because I already DO own the DVD box set for Zelda. In fact, I specifically remember getting it at a Virgin Records Megastore going out of business sale, if THAT tells you anything about how long ago this was.
I have a Mon-Fri weekday job, and a side gig on the weekends, which means that I've missed out on the last few Splatfests, and don't have nearly as much free time for video games in general. But I just put in my 2 weeks notice at the weekend job, and will have all the free time I need to get Ruler+. I haven't had any days off in months so I'm genuinely excited to play in this Splatfest.
Rumor has it that Mario used to be called "Jumping Man" and that they got the name "Mario" from the landlord of their American headquarters, and that Mario's mummified remains will be the eighth and final experience that they mentioned, so you can pay your respects before leaving.
The price point isn't bad, all things considered. That being said, it would be very hard to plan a trip to attend if you're traveling from overseas. If your name doesn't come up in the drawing during the window of time you're visiting, you'll miss out entirely and be relegated to exploring hundreds of tourist spots highlighting some of the most beautiful Japanese architecture that the country has to offer. UGH!
I've been interested in this one for a while, since it seems to check off just about every box of what I look for in a game. Sadly, I've been working 2 jobs lately and have barely touched my Switch in weeks. If it came out on mobile, I would pick it up as something to play on my commute(s), but until then I'll just hold off until a more convenient time.
I would have been all over this if it was the cover art. I love the art direction in this game, but the giant zoom in of Zelda looks like a plastic toddlers toy and not something that would look good on a wall.

Re: Feature: "A Puzzle Should Be Structured Like A Good Joke" - The Influences & Craft Behind 'Lorelei And The Laser Eyes'
I purchased Sayonara Wild Hearts on a whim during a sale, and was not prepared for how hard it would hit me. My 12+ year relationship was going through a rough patch at the time I played it, so the lyrics got me right in the heart. I still listen to the soundtrack regularly, and even bought it on record, as well as the cassette tape with the early versions of the songs... and the tarot cards too!!
And I admit, while I haven't played Loreli yet, I've cheated a little and already listened to the soundtrack, and was very glad to see that Daniel Olsén and Linnea Olsson were teaming up again to work their magic.
Puzzle games aren't always my jam, but I can already tell this will be an exception.
