I really wouldn't mind seeing the Ironclad, The Silent, and The Defect showing up as characters in a new non-spire related game. I'm oddly attached to those characters despite them not having any real personality to speak of.
... We've just been through so much together at this point.
The only thing missing is the custom stage builder, and the true highlight of the stage builder was the added Cave Johnson dialogue. If you haven't heard any of those bits, its well worth looking up the video on YouTube of all of Cave's dialogue in one 30 minute long video. Highly recommended.
Is it still considered double-dipping if I have a box in my parents attic somewhere with a couple dozen 2600 games?
My family was always a generation or two behind the gaming curve, so up until I got an NES in 1994, the 2600 was where I spent all my formative years. I have both owned and beaten E.T. for whatever thats worth.
I had already gotten burnt out on Fortnite before I gave this a shot, so my Battle Royale patience was already worn thin. Good concept though. Being able to fly around and fight like a bender from Avatar was more appealing than most of what Fortnite had to offer.
I'd say I'm sad to see it go, but its like a tree falling in the woods.
I've played countless hours of Half Life, Blue Shift, and Opposing Force, but I've never had the chance to play Half Life 2. I'd buy a Switch port in a heartbeat just to finally put my decade of curiosity to rest.
@TheSaneInsanity Hey, thanks!! I've been using the same avatar for over a decade now, but keep meaning to do it over again since there's some weird loose pixels that show up. But the laziness always ends up taking over. Glad its still enjoyable. LOL!
@sketchturner Its weird because I'm the exact opposite. Admittedly, I never owned a Wii U, so Splatoon 2 was my first game. Nothing against Cali/Mari, but I can't tell them apart, and I'm much more interested in Pearl & Marina's dynamic.
If I had started with the first game, I'd probably feel the same way as you do.
When the game launched, I was working in a museum downtown that had a gym and multiple pokestops on site, as well as several gyms within walking distance. EX Raids were definitely a highlight for me at that point, and it was nice seeing familiar faces in the local raiding groups.
Now I work from home full time, and its remote passes or nothing. I went from hard-core daily playing, to casual, to the point now where I barely open the app. Even with all the fancy new events going on. Once my nephews stopped inviting me to raids to help them out, I had little reason to log on. I used to at least try to grab my weekly remote raid pass, but now that they've replaced that option, I have very little desire to open the app at all. It took about 6 years, but I've finally hopped of the PoGo-train.
I can see myself getting back into daily play once I've had enough time away from it. But taking out remote raid options isn't helping their case.
Really makes me wonder why they wasted a coveted spot on the Smash roster for Joker. He's not a legacy video game character, and he's not playable on a Nintendo system.
Say what you will about the obnoxious Dragon Ball fans, but Goku would have actually been a more appropriate choice over Joker.
I'm going to take a moment to help isolate what we're looking at going off of the title alone. Prison Life Simulator
Makes sense, a solid start to a sim game. 2022:
This part insinuates that we'll be receiving a new version yearly. Oh God. World
This story will be happening on a global scale. The images appear to be modeling the US prison system, but perhaps we'll have the option to view incarceration through the lens of other nation's justice systems. ...right? FIGHT Battle
I appreciate them putting 'FIGHT' in all caps to assure us that this world battle won't involve drones, tanks, or missiles, but rather some good ole fashioned mano y mano fist fighting. Sounds riveting. GTA
Honestly they lost me here. Perhaps the player is serving time for stealing cars?? ULTIMATE
Generally this means there are other, lesser, versions available. Maybe there's DLC that they decided to package in with the main game before launch?
Thats the best I can figure with what I was given. I sure hope this doesn't cost more than $4.99
@twztid13 Chances are, you may have accidently added them to an "ignored user" list. Just so you can get full context on what all you've been missing out on, you can update that here: https://www.nintendolife.com/user/ignored
Even though the hype is packaged as being one big meta joke, their games are top-notch and well deserving of actual hype. The excessively gorey presentation in-between the game reveals is still better than having Geoff Keighley staring straight into the camera at me.
@Joe-b JonSpangler just beat me to it, but swag is the correct answer.
Last time I went to one of these a few years back, you could sign in using your MyNintendo account, and receive a free water bottle and lapel pin. Additionally, you got a little punch card to play the different games, and would receive a stamp after playing at each station. Once your card was full, you could turn it in at the front desk for a prize. There were different tiers of prizes, based on Mario power-ups. You'd press a button to see what "value" you got.
I got a flower power-up, and ended up picking a baseball cap with Eevee's face and ears popping out the top. Good times.
This has been on my radar for quite some time now. I tell myself that I'm not into these kinds of detective games, but there's actually been a couple I've enjoyed so maybe I need to reasses that.
As for the next game, I own all 3, but have only beaten Hollow Knight, though it was a few years ago at this point. Honestly wouldn't mind playing any of these again.
Mine is not a game, but a book. I have the faux-leatherbound version of Hyrule Historia with the gold gilded edges, still wrapped in plastic. I spent extra money on the regular green cover just to be able to see what's inside.
Apparently one guy bought up as many copies as he could so he'd artificially control the availability and market price. That guy sucks, and I detest that kind of behavior. But my little book is even more rare now because of that jerk
@AlexHarford Don't worry. BotW doesn't "end" quite so easily. There's hundreds of Korok seeds to collect, a bunch of armor sets to fully upgrade, and a big chunk of DLC. You'll be alright as long a you have that completionst itch to guide you.
@Andy_C444 There were a couple children's show characters I've never heard of before, but for the most part I'm familiar with the political jokes from all the Brexit coverage a few years back, and I've watched enough British sitcoms on late night PBS (the sesame street channel) that I was able to fully appreciate the Brian Blessing, Steve Coogan, and Mary Berry references. Once again, my insomnia proves to be helpful.
I've never heard of him before, but I'm about to take a deep dive through his archive. I have a giant folder of MS Paint drawings and absolutely love using it as a limited medium to work within its weird little boundaries. This is something else, though.
Couch Play is still my absolute favorite method of multiplayer. That being said, I no longer live with 3 other guys in a messy gamer house so my couch is rather empty these days. Especially during the height of the pandemic, I was either going to play with someone online, or I was playing by myself.
I heard the push back to the poor CGI before I actually saw the trailer and thought "Pfft! Typical MCU nerds... whatever"
Then saw the trailer and was like "Okay, yeah, it looks like a PS3 game, but blown up to 4k"
The actress did a pretty great job in Orphan Black, so I'm confident that the actual show won't be a dud, but they really gotta brush up a few things before it debuts.
(Also, we live in a post-Lady Dimitrescu world which has irreversibly unlocked something in the minds of fans that has paved the way for Jessica Walter's to be well-recieved)
Having only recently learned the power of owning a whole container of Kewpie mayo to do with as you please, I wholeheartedly agree with his final answer.
Also, Intimidation Crab is an S-Tier pun. Kudos. Looking forward to this one
I played the everloving heck out of this when I first got my Switch. I got really close to the last levels, but fell off the wagon as other games stole me away. I've tried to hop back in, but there's a lot of muscle memory and reflexes needed to get back to the skill level I was at before.
WATA are clearly manipulating these numbers to fuel their own profits. Videogames don't need to turn into the next "art market" where pieces that are deemed to be worth millions are merely there for rich folk to hide their money from taxes.
There's a lot about this that I'm really interested in. I'm a sucker for gameplay influenced by music, the visuals look slick, and releasing the content by weekly chapters is a very intriguing approach.
While I don't care too much for the genre itself, there's a lot it has going for it that could sway me. The price tag will pretty much determine if I play along each week as the new chapters drop, or if I snatch it up on a holiday sale.
The name alone was enough to grab my interest. Between this, Enter the Gungeon, and and Wizard with a Gun, Devolver really has a strong gun motif going on here.

I've got 3 drifting Joycons and an AC adapter thats being held together by electrical tape. I'd get my $15 worth.
It IS a good deal but can't help but feel sketchy about it
Re: Slay The Spire Team MegaCrit Games "Working On Next Game"
@Rykdrew Wow!! I'm honestly impressed. I'm at about 90.1%, and still feel like I have a long ways to go.
Re: Four Sega Genesis / Mega Drive Games Have Been Added To Switch Online's Expansion Pack
There's a pretty decent side scrolling shooter game hidden underneath all of Zero Wings bad engrish and meme-fodder.

No lie, I'm stoked about the eyebrow customization. I already know what my squid kid is gonna look like months ahead of time.
Re: Watch: Nintendo Direct Mini: Partner Showcase
Something tells me we're not going to be getting one big direct, but rather several directs focusing on a single game a la Xenoblade.
Re: Rhythm Game 'Thumper' Receives Update, Here Are The Patch Notes
Hot dang! With checkpoints, I might actually be able to beat the final stages now.

Re: Nintendo Download: 16th June (North America)
TMNT for sure while the 10% discount is going on, and Fall Guys because its free, and sure... why not.
Neon White I'm very interested in, but might need to hold off depending on budget/free time. Same with Omori.
Shaping up to be a decent week!
Re: Reminder: Street Fighter II Free For A Limited Time In Capcom Arcade Stadium

Re: Persona 3, 4, and 5 Seemingly Confirmed For Everything But Switch
@Ralizah I'd argue that Joker in Persona Q was represented as a cute li'l chibi boy, and not an angsty man with a gun.
But admittedly, I don't have a leg to stand on when it comes to Strikers.
(I'm just bitter because I greatly enjoy SMT games and want to play P5, but I only own a Switch)
