Re: Slay The Spire Team MegaCrit Games "Working On Next Game"

Desrever

I really wouldn't mind seeing the Ironclad, The Silent, and The Defect showing up as characters in a new non-spire related game. I'm oddly attached to those characters despite them not having any real personality to speak of.

... We've just been through so much together at this point.

Re: Fantasy-Action Battle Royale Spellbreak Shuts Down Early Next Year

Desrever

I had already gotten burnt out on Fortnite before I gave this a shot, so my Battle Royale patience was already worn thin. Good concept though. Being able to fly around and fight like a bender from Avatar was more appealing than most of what Fortnite had to offer.

I'd say I'm sad to see it go, but its like a tree falling in the woods.

Re: Splatoon 3 Premieres New 'Off The Hook' Track, And It's A Banger

Desrever

@sketchturner Its weird because I'm the exact opposite. Admittedly, I never owned a Wii U, so Splatoon 2 was my first game. Nothing against Cali/Mari, but I can't tell them apart, and I'm much more interested in Pearl & Marina's dynamic.

If I had started with the first game, I'd probably feel the same way as you do.

Re: Pokémon GO Devs Confirm Remote Raiding For Regular Tiers Will Remain "Right Now"

Desrever

When the game launched, I was working in a museum downtown that had a gym and multiple pokestops on site, as well as several gyms within walking distance. EX Raids were definitely a highlight for me at that point, and it was nice seeing familiar faces in the local raiding groups.

Now I work from home full time, and its remote passes or nothing. I went from hard-core daily playing, to casual, to the point now where I barely open the app. Even with all the fancy new events going on. Once my nephews stopped inviting me to raids to help them out, I had little reason to log on. I used to at least try to grab my weekly remote raid pass, but now that they've replaced that option, I have very little desire to open the app at all. It took about 6 years, but I've finally hopped of the PoGo-train.

I can see myself getting back into daily play once I've had enough time away from it. But taking out remote raid options isn't helping their case.

Re: Nintendo Download: 16th June (North America)

Desrever

TMNT for sure while the 10% discount is going on, and Fall Guys because its free, and sure... why not.

Neon White I'm very interested in, but might need to hold off depending on budget/free time. Same with Omori.

Shaping up to be a decent week!

Re: Somehow, 'Prison Life Simulator 2022: World FIGHT Battle GTA ULTIMATE' Is An Actual Game On Switch

Desrever

I'm going to take a moment to help isolate what we're looking at going off of the title alone.
Prison Life Simulator
Makes sense, a solid start to a sim game. 2022:
This part insinuates that we'll be receiving a new version yearly. Oh God.
World
This story will be happening on a global scale. The images appear to be modeling the US prison system, but perhaps we'll have the option to view incarceration through the lens of other nation's justice systems. ...right?
FIGHT Battle
I appreciate them putting 'FIGHT' in all caps to assure us that this world battle won't involve drones, tanks, or missiles, but rather some good ole fashioned mano y mano fist fighting. Sounds riveting.
GTA
Honestly they lost me here. Perhaps the player is serving time for stealing cars??
ULTIMATE
Generally this means there are other, lesser, versions available. Maybe there's DLC that they decided to package in with the main game before launch?

Thats the best I can figure with what I was given. I sure hope this doesn't cost more than $4.99

Re: The Nintendo Switch Road Trip Returns This Summer (North America)

@Joe-b JonSpangler just beat me to it, but swag is the correct answer.

Last time I went to one of these a few years back, you could sign in using your MyNintendo account, and receive a free water bottle and lapel pin. Additionally, you got a little punch card to play the different games, and would receive a stamp after playing at each station.
Once your card was full, you could turn it in at the front desk for a prize. There were different tiers of prizes, based on Mario power-ups. You'd press a button to see what "value" you got.

I got a flower power-up, and ended up picking a baseball cap with Eevee's face and ears popping out the top. Good times.

Re: Backlog Club: Week Zero, June - Return Of Backlog Club, Return Of The Obra Dinn

Desrever

This has been on my radar for quite some time now. I tell myself that I'm not into these kinds of detective games, but there's actually been a couple I've enjoyed so maybe I need to reasses that.

As for the next game, I own all 3, but have only beaten Hollow Knight, though it was a few years ago at this point. Honestly wouldn't mind playing any of these again.

Re: Video: Do You Own A Video Game So Rare That You Can Never Actually Play It?

Desrever

Mine is not a game, but a book. I have the faux-leatherbound version of Hyrule Historia with the gold gilded edges, still wrapped in plastic. I spent extra money on the regular green cover just to be able to see what's inside.

Apparently one guy bought up as many copies as he could so he'd artificially control the availability and market price. That guy sucks, and I detest that kind of behavior. But my little book is even more rare now because of that jerk

Re: Random: MS Paint Artist Imagines "Zelda: Ocarina Of Time Team" Mashup

Desrever

@Andy_C444 There were a couple children's show characters I've never heard of before, but for the most part I'm familiar with the political jokes from all the Brexit coverage a few years back, and I've watched enough British sitcoms on late night PBS (the sesame street channel) that I was able to fully appreciate the Brian Blessing, Steve Coogan, and Mary Berry references. Once again, my insomnia proves to be helpful.

Re: Reggie Talks About Nintendo's Slow Adoption Of Online Play

Desrever

Couch Play is still my absolute favorite method of multiplayer. That being said, I no longer live with 3 other guys in a messy gamer house so my couch is rather empty these days. Especially during the height of the pandemic, I was either going to play with someone online, or I was playing by myself.

Re: Random: Banjo-Kazooie's Gruntilda Returns In Fan-Altered She-Hulk Poster

Desrever

I heard the push back to the poor CGI before I actually saw the trailer and thought "Pfft! Typical MCU nerds... whatever"

Then saw the trailer and was like "Okay, yeah, it looks like a PS3 game, but blown up to 4k"

The actress did a pretty great job in Orphan Black, so I'm confident that the actual show won't be a dud, but they really gotta brush up a few things before it debuts.

(Also, we live in a post-Lady Dimitrescu world which has irreversibly unlocked something in the minds of fans that has paved the way for Jessica Walter's to be well-recieved)

Re: We Are OFK Will Be A 'Making-Of-The-Band Series & Interactive EP', Out This Summer

Desrever

There's a lot about this that I'm really interested in. I'm a sucker for gameplay influenced by music, the visuals look slick, and releasing the content by weekly chapters is a very intriguing approach.

While I don't care too much for the genre itself, there's a lot it has going for it that could sway me. The price tag will pretty much determine if I play along each week as the new chapters drop, or if I snatch it up on a holiday sale.
