Re: Nintendo Expands Switch 2's GameCube Library Next Week

DasWunderkind

Switch Pro is dying for games, and Nintendo just scrapes what it can without spending money on killer 3rd party classics like Crazy Taxi, Simpsons Road Rage, Gundam Fed vs. Zeon, Dragonball Budokai 2, Prince of Persia, Batman Begins, Burnout 2, RE0, Sega Soccer Slam, Sonic Adventure DX all of which and more I already have on the Wii with no subscription service and 100% accuracy plus widescreen enabled. How many times do we have to teach you this lesson old man ๐Ÿ˜‚

This is why I'm happy I downloaded the APK file to my Retroid handheld and never gave them a dime.

However just because I got it for free doesn't mean I'm not going to criticize it. The gameplay gets boring fast. It reminds me of River City Girls or Streets of Rage 4. Good looking games but damn if they don't get repetitive. There are better beatemups available for free on OpenBOR.

Re: Poll: How Much Internal Storage Would Be Reasonable For 'Switch 2'?

DasWunderkind

Depends on the size of the games. My RP3+ has 128gb internal and a 128gb micro SD of external space and the games that take up the most space are PSX, Dreamcast, PSP and NDS. I have about 40gb internal remaining and 10gb external. If most cellphones can store 1TB nowadays anything less for a modern console would be a compromise.

Re: Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection's Next Update Launches "Early" January 2024

@Doctor-Moo Most old games pre-Wii era had some bugs that we put up with because what else could you do? Some of those older games have been fixed by fans through patches that also add QoL updates like with Ocarina and Majora's Mask. But others had to be done through things like the DK64 + expansion pak or quietly rereleased revisions that happened with PSX games.

I miss the days when consoles didn't need 17.0.1 stability updates to fix things that were ironed out before the product hit the market. How many hardware/software revisions did the SNES get? Or the Dreamcast? What about the GC?

Part of the problem is planned obsolescence, and now it's gotten worse since most game companies are leaning towards digital only and streaming instead of owning. It is very anti-consumer and a big part of why I have mostly gone towards emulating rather than owning since I don't have to pay for some cookie dough games that are mostly half-baked and never leave you satisfied.

Pretty soon they will be charging extra for multiplayer and rumble features. Like my car from 2007 has heated seats but the 2023 version requires you to subscribe to a service to have them activated even though they're built into the car you own ๐Ÿ˜„

Re: Details On Sonic 2's Lost Stages Have Been Revealed

There is the Sonic 2 Delta romhack that created a whole other Sonic 2 game from the cut content. And Sonic 4 was a great game, screw the trolls. I loved it on my iPod touch and Wii. Episode 2 had some great graphics and gameplay but too much slowdown for a Sonic game.

Re: Poll: So, Will You Be Getting Super Mario RPG On Switch?

DasWunderkind

Played and beat the SNES original but never felt like going back. RPGs aren't for me, even though this one does a lot more with the overworld between random battles and towns. I have Paper Mario, TTYD, Mario & Luigi Saga and Super Paper Mario but these games don't hold my interest anymore.

Re: Feature: Game Boy Color - A Quarter Century Of Colour Nintendo Handhelds

I collected and recycled aluminum cans for 3 months when I was 14 years old because I really wanted one. I got the lime green one and had Link's Awakening DX, Tetris, Batman, SML1 & 2. When the Pokemon cartoon hit a friend of mine at school lent me his copy of red and said I could return it whenever.

I caught a Mew and evolved it, then did the missingno bug to get 99 everything ๐Ÿ˜„ it made the game so much more fun. But after that I just lost interest in the series. Despite buying a GBA when it launched the console never really did much for me, and the new Pokemon designs just looked deritive and cheesy. By this point I was in college and had moved on to the Dreamcast with its awesome arcade library. I miss the GBC days and still play GB games on my backlit rg351p.

Re: Video: Digital Foundry's Technical Analysis Of Mortal Kombat 1 On Switch

The switch is basically a portable Wii U. I don't think that's always a bad thing but it can't keep up with games built on stronger hardware. I don't blame them for porting a mediocre version of MK1 since the developers know switch fans will take anything at this point. Once you're used to watered down experiences and day 1 updates, your expectations drop faster than Mario taking a barrel to the head ๐Ÿ˜„
