Re: Anniversary: Super Mario Land Launched 30 Years Ago Today In Europe

DasWunderkind

The level design in this game was severely hampered by the limited and repetitive backgrounds, but the gameplay is fun and adds a lot of new things that became standard in other Nintendo platformers.

I don't know why Nintendo hasnt rereleased or remastered SML 1, 2 &3 but the hackers have already added color to SML1&2 and they remade SMW into a port of SML3.

DasWunderkind

Metal Gear Trilogy, Devil May Cry 3, GTA Vice City, Red Dead Revolver, Yakuza, Batman Begins, Shadow of Colossus... amazing how many AAA games came out for the PS2 and how none have been rereleased for the Switch. Having a PS2 with all these games and then reading countless NL articles on Switch ports of mediocre MAME roms and hentai games with leggy controls... Makes me hug my PS2 even more 😋

Re: Talking Point: Does Nintendo Have A Refund Problem?

DasWunderkind

There's a sucker born every minute and many become Nintendo fans.

Nintendo is just transitioning their business model to microtransactions and constant rebuying of rehashed older games. Just look at how they've made a killing on Pokemon Go and their other mobile games. They're just applying that monetizing approach to their console base.

This isnt just software related. The hardware is also designed to make the most money. The joycons are a joke and probably only beat by the Virtual Boy controller as the worst in their history. And yet people are still spending $60 a pop to replace them.

This is why I love roms and the Homebrew Channel. I can sample almost any game, throw away what I don't like, and buy the ones worth owning.

Re: Dataminer Shares New Details About The Emulation In Super Mario 3D All-Stars

DasWunderkind

@fadetonoir But it's manipulating the hardware to do something through software tricks that it can't normally do. I guess you can call it a hack more than an emulator because it relies on the Wii to do its trick, but I consider it an emulator since I can play games from a different system (especially with Wiis and Wii Us with no GC disc drive) booting up ISOs that I got from the internet. Not to mention games that were never released for the console.

It's not like SNES9x or other cross platform emulators, it's a UI that bypasses the manufacturer's limitations. So no it's not a traditional emulator, but it runs enough like one for me to call it that.

Re: Dataminer Shares New Details About The Emulation In Super Mario 3D All-Stars

DasWunderkind

@Mushvision Last I checked neither the GC nor the Wii could play ISOs out of the box. Nintendont is technically a fan made mod that can do that and then some, so yes it's using proprietary hardware but someone actually had to sit and program the code to EMULATE all kinds of things the original hardware couldn't. You cant install Nintendont on your iPhone, it's not that kind of app. It's an emulator specific to the hardware.

Basically, if Nintendo hates it then you know it's fan made emulation.

Re: Dataminer Shares New Details About The Emulation In Super Mario 3D All-Stars

DasWunderkind

@Atariboy I'm loading ISOs from a USB drive with the Nintendont app I downloaded from the internet that I had to physically upload and test through the Homebrew Channel on the Wii. I'm not using any discs and accessing all kinds of features programmed by the makers of the emulator. There's even Mario Kart and F-Zero arcade exclusive games you can EMULATE on it.

@mikegamer Yes, Nintedont is using the Wii as its brain but it's emulating software I don't physically own and at a higher resolution with faster load times and extra save file space. Good emulation improves upon the original. Bad emulation is justass you pay $60 for.

Re: Video: The Problem With The Super Mario 3D All-Stars Release

DasWunderkind

@aaronsullivan I didn't say anything about pirating new games. I was talking about roms as they exist in their purest form, which is a piece of information that needs an emulator or modded hardware to run. Doesn't matter who made it or what they think, old roms are floating out there freely on the internet to use, but not distribute for profit. Most of the best games in Nintendo's library would be unplayable if not for emulation, and hackers are emulating Nintendo's games better than Nintendo themselves.

Where do you think Nintendo got the idea for Mario Maker? Ever been to www.smwcentral.net ? Haven't you ever played Captain Toad on the SNES? Some guy sitting in a basement somewhere in Brazil or Europe has already made Mario Worlds that are infinitely more interesting and interactive than anything Nintendo ever did by using oldass Windows based freeware.

Re: Video: The Problem With The Super Mario 3D All-Stars Release

DasWunderkind

Well let's see...

A broken game that needs continuous updates to fix bugs which were NEVER present on the Wii versions. And since it's a limited release this collection will be full of bugs long after Nintendo has shut down Switch online support while the superior Wii versions will always play perfectly.

Charging $60 for an SD card with 3 emulated games that can be emulated for free and run better on other Nintendo systems.

That is how you're celebrating Mario's 35th? Worst party EVAR

Re: Random: Some 3D All-Stars Players Aren't Happy About The Visible Debug Cubes In Super Mario Sunshine

DasWunderkind

Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

Oh gosh this couldn't be better. A lazy 💸 grab by Nintendo to make money off a lazy port of their old Mario games with ZEROFKN free bonus extras, no instruction manual, no attempt to remaster and then put a label on an SD card that looks like it was done for some kid's homework project. Your $60 well spent 😆

Meanwhile here I am playing perfect ports of Mario 64, Sunshine and Galaxy on a Wii from 2006. The only one I paid for was Galaxy and it was like new on eBay for $8 🎮 😉

Re: Video: Super Mario 3D All-Stars Looks Miles Better Than The Originals, And Here's The Proof

DasWunderkind

@Kezza64 that's cool. I'm happy they're all back for people to enjoy. I hope Nintendo does something similar with the newer Kirby and DK games in the future. Mario is great and all but they have so many other top platformers.

I honestly didn't like Galaxy. It's basically a tech demo. Sunshine feels like work, especially the first parts of the game. Bianco Hills is easily the worst 1st world I've ever played in a Mario game. The best way to describe it is that it feels like a rejected town from Ocarina of Time. I just don't care for this 🐬 island and its fat ugly people. I played it when it came out and I tried it again and I still think it's garbage.

Mario 64 is a flat out masterpiece, and should have received a standalone remaster with all the crap from the DS version. If you wanna see a true remaster of that game check this out;

Re: Video: Super Mario 3D All-Stars Looks Miles Better Than The Originals, And Here's The Proof

DasWunderkind

If I want to play these games emulated in high def, which is what this collection is, I can just play them on the Wii. Mario 64 is already emulated perfectly in the Virtual Console, Sunshine is an ISO I can play on Nintendont in 16:9 progressive, and Galaxy was made for the Wii. I can also play Galaxy 2 if I want but that game sucks so why would I? Anyway happy birthday Mario, sorry your anniversary collection is so lame 👎

Re: Review: Super Mario All-Stars - All That Glitters Isn't Necessarily Gold

DasWunderkind

The fans have hacked the hell out of these games and have pretty much perfected the art of Mario. There's Mario games where you can play as Luigi, Sonic, Link, Kirby, Yoshi and Peach and there's even a SMW hack that has all the powerups from all Mario games. Once you play that you realize how lazy Nintendo has been in their "remastered" editions 😆
