Re: Soapbox: 25 Years On, I Still Can't Get Into Yoshi's Island

Calling it Mario World 2 was a stupid cash grab by Nintendo. They were trying new things with Mario on Mario RPG and Mario Kart, Mario & Wario and Mario Excitebike, but Yoshi was a popular enough character to have his name be the only one on the box.

It made you think you were going to play a Mario game where you hold Y to run and do spin jumps and beat up Koopas. It had almost none of that and should have been promoted as a new kind of platformer like DKC and Kirby Super Star.

I really enjoy the music, especially the intro. The game design is fantastic and once you get used to Yoshi's physics it is a blast to play and transform into different stuff. The egg throwing is fun and works when you get the hang of it. Is it the best Mario game? No because it's not a Mario game. It's still great though.

And anyone b1tching about 2D Zelda needs to seriously consider another hobby.

@retrotheigyer_77 The Homebrew Channel on the Wii has all that plus romhacks, free fanbrews, and FREE ONLINE. What a novel concept, right? NOT charging people to use their own internet to play games.

You would think with all those billions Nintendo is making, they'd invest some cash to make a decent online system that doesn't suck. Windows 98 had more customization than the Switch lol

Would be great if you could play a 5 minute demo of these games, but yeah the Wii eshop was waaaaaaaay better organized and had music!! Also it turned your Wii into a retroconsole with games from SEGA, TGx16, Neo Geo, N64, and MAME. And yet over 10 years later with billions of dollars in the bank the Switch is looking more and more like a giant scam hahaha

Re: Poll: No, Really, What Was Nintendo's Worst Year?

2020 easily. When you have 50 million hungry fans that you know are just sitting at home dying to play something new and exclusive, maybe with a well developed online component (lol) and you give them refried leftovers, a farming simulator and Donkey Kong Country... Thank God I never bought a Switch.

More homebrew on my Wii please kthanks

Re: Random: Fans Have Made Their Very Own Splatoon 2 Instruction Manual

You're better of just downloading games nowadays. Somehow physical copies are an event and download codes can cost up to $50 for a game that still has DLC and microtransactions. Such bu115h!t and everyone just accepts it. Now we got fans making their own manuals because game companies are too cheap to print anything.

So glad romsites and emulators exist. If a game is just information floating on the internet then I'll just bypass the middleman and go straight to the source.
