Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give The Super Mario Galaxy Movie?

Whirlwound

Gets a 6 out of me. Not awful, but a way off of great. Felt like a sketch show, some scenes barely connected. Fox pulled expressions we’ve never seen before, hardly in keeping with the stoic, swashbuckling sidereal vulpine we know. And the ending was not just very deus ex machina, but really abrupt.

Going again to hunt Easter eggs - got a few yesterday, but keeping eyes peeled next time. Plus I need to throw a pal some gear from the Japan trip.

Re: Feature: Our Top Ten Favourite Easter Eggs In The Super Mario Galaxy Movie

Whirlwound

Totally called the post-credits scene. Had to be her, didn't it. Welcome on board, Red... 🧡

And if we're getting a less-than-serious Fox here (Glen Powell was definitely in Hangman mode here), we better be getting some serious Samus for the threequel. The borders between worlds are cracking...

...though there's a point. What if it hadn't been Fox they ran into - but his father James? That would explain where he wound up after getting lost in the Black Hole zone...!

Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl: Duel - Capcom Vs SNK 2 EO (GameCube)

Whirlwound

Looking at this by way of how those involved fare in title sequences - hardly front and centre names on the NA version… Kyosuke (bit of a stoic persona lost In the ensemble of more, let’s call it, vocal Rival Schools characters), Kim, Sagat and (I assume as a sizeable Big Bad) Geese Howard. Only the latter gets any real titles time that I can think of, falling to his demise in Garou: Mark of the Wolves.

Meanwhile we’ve got three regular title-sequence leads on the EU/JP one: Ryu, Kyo Kusanagi and Haohmaru.

This one goes east.

That said, @HammerGalladeBro is right - the non-EO Chun-li cover kicks them both up in the air.

Re: Fox McCloud's Voice Actor For The Super Mario Galaxy Movie Has Been Confirmed

Whirlwound

I’m alright with this; quite the coup actually. Glen Powell has been a reliable name of late - while I haven’t seen How To Make A Killing yet, he’s been really good in everything else I have seen. I wasn’t expecting to like the reboot of The Running Man, but I quite enjoyed it.

Way things have been going for him, it almost feels like his path is being guided as a new Tom Cruise - just without the e-meters and stuff. (I hope.)

Re: Devil May Cry 5 'Devil Hunter Edition' Has Been Rated For Switch 2

Whirlwound

@JohnnyMind I’d go with the original to start with. It’s still really good, and it’ll give you a baseline for how the series has gone since.

I can’t be the only one seeing Dante played by Tom Cruise in this one, though. You’d think his demonic heritage might have staved off a couple of decades - guess not though, huh.

Re: 50 Best Game Boy Advance Games Of All Time

Whirlwound

And the best game of the lot? Not even mentioned. Rhythm Tengoku. I lost DAYS to that game back then. Still do.

Managed to find most of my targeted JP cartridges online already, to the point that I struck out completely looking for new stuff in Akiba.

Re: Nintendo "Cagey" About Letting Games On Switch 2, Wants To Avoid "Slop Fest"

Whirlwound

@MamaSymphonia I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again - no parent wants THAT conversation with little Tommy or Millie about what those words mean. It’s actually surprising that the usual pearl clutchers haven’t plastered such things all over their hateful carcinogenic pages. Report and Block is the way forward.

@DennyCrane I’LL heckin dae it!!

Re: Nintendo "Cagey" About Letting Games On Switch 2, Wants To Avoid "Slop Fest"

Whirlwound

They want to avoid a slop fest? Sod off. No they don't. If they did the NS1 iteration wouldn't have wound up the way it did.

Looking through the eSLop for something I might actually want to play - or an actual game half the time, there's that much 'relaxing games you can play with one hand' bollocks on it right now - is so ridiculously depressing, I doomscroll the socials for an hour to take the edge off. I will personally walk them through just how much sh💩💩💩💩💩te there is floating around the eShop like it's that giant fly-tip in Oxfordshire.

I could also walk them through a branch of Melonbooks to teach them the actual meanings of [cough] certain words. Couldn't believe that was in a prominent Akiba arcade's basement.

Let us block developers and/or publishers we don't want to see. It ain't rocket science.

Re: Nintendo Showcases Every Switch 1 & 2 Indie World Game In A New Infographic

Whirlwound

Already pounced on Blue Prince - lining up Denshattack, Inkonbini, Woodo, Blighted, Ratatan, My Little Puppy (it’s not Omar… it’s not Omar…), Blighted, Deadzone Rogue, Rotwood…

…and I’ve just had to save that pic so I don’t forget because for the first time, I just maxed out my wishlist… 💧

My main hope for this Indie World is that now one of the gaming world’s darlings of the past year or so has finally emerged on Switch 2, others may follow suit. Balatro was a big move when it dropped, but Blue Prince is even more so. Clair E33, I’m looking at you right now - among many.

Re: Blue Prince's Excellent Mansion Mystery Arrives On Switch 2 Today

Whirlwound

FREAKING FINALLY!!

The show was fair to middling up to this point, but the way BP was introduced had me wake the hell up after a busy couple of shifts at work. ‘Taking notes, is it now? Come on… c’mooooooon… COME THE FRICK ON!!!’

Cards on the table here - I’ve barely been on either of my Switches since I got back from Japan. Been drained AF by work being out and out a-holes. After one of our moronic stocktakes (who the balls does a stock count while the damn store is still open‽), this is exactly what I need to jump back in.

Re: Anniversary: The Legend Of Zelda Turns 40 Today - How Did You First Play It?

Whirlwound

The series has a cornerstone of my gaming life for almost three decades now, but it first blipped on my radar with the Game & Watch version during a school trip to France in 1984. That was my very first brush with anything Nintendo-flavoured, now I think about it.

After that it wasn’t until Link to the Past that I got back into it; never had a NES, but once I’d sold my C64 to get a SNES, I never looked back.

Re: Super Bomberman Collection Out Now On eShop, Full Cart Release Coming In August

Whirlwound

@ChessboardMan I think you mean Hi-Ten Bomberman, which wasn't on any commercially available console - it was custom hardware for a show in 1993, running on two PC Engines working in tandem. Interestingly, it was one of the first games running on a 16:9 hi-def TV.

It's a 32-year-old game, neither Switch should even break a sweat - the only caveat would be for Game Share or players connecting their phones as controllers, since you can only connect eight actual controllers at once.

@Hanniebis Any F thrown at Fat Mike Ashley or Fraser Group sure as hell ain’t out of respect.

He is a pox on this country. Even a Mackem such as I, who dined mightily on his comedically disastrous run as Newcastle Utd owner (those custard cream away strips still make me chuckle), can see he’s done far more damage than that to the high street.
