Re: Opinion: Animal Crossing On Switch 2 Has Me Equal Parts Buzzing And Baffled

ChaoticIgnorance

I find it wild that this article is the "hot take" and not the fact that this update feels like a carbon copy of Happy Home Designer.

What Animal Crossing has needed is more crafting recipes, new events, updated older events, new villagers, the ability to once again have 15 villagers in your town like the GameCube game use to have, more things to collect for he museum (how hard is it to add a few more bug/fish types!?), and new conversation dialogue with the villagers. Hell, maybe even adding new villager personalities.

Instead, this update gives us more of the same and a lot of it is locked behind a mini game that I already played in 2021 and got bored of REAL QUICK. I have to admit though, I am excited for the quality of life updates though.

Re: Poll: Animal Crossing: New Horizons Is Getting A Huge Update In Early 2026, What Are You Most Excited For?

ChaoticIgnorance

I voted for "something else" because I want new items and crafting recipes. I guess the crafting board on the dock is interesting, but they didn't show new recipes, just old ones we've already seen. And they didn't really show many of the new items that you can get through the hotel, but that's what I want most. I couldn't give a crap about the actual gameplay surrounding the hotel and I wish the new items were not tied to it. Happy Home Designer (literally the same update!) was already kind of meh after a while.

Re: Best Super Mario Games Of All Time

ChaoticIgnorance

I understand the SMB3/World debate at #1, but I've always put 3 ahead of World because it came first and so deserves more credit. Both introduced features that would go on to be Mario staples for decades, but there was always something about the reveal of each world in SMB3 that I enjoyed more than the reveal of new sections of Super Mario World. And overall, I didn't love the interconnected world in World as much because each area felt a little less than each of the worlds in SMB3.

Re: The Entire Final Fantasy VII Remake Trilogy Is Making Its Way To Switch 2

ChaoticIgnorance

@jsty3105 Why is this the response I get literally every time I bring this up? Cyberpunk 2077 is over 100 gigs on the PS4 and I think it's safe to assume CD Project Red started with a build of a similar nature and tweaked it to fit on a 64gig Switch 2 cart. Sacrifices may have been made, but it was done.

If folks want a gorgeous digital version, or a "convenient" game-key card version, great. But I would still love a version optimized for a 64gig Switch 2 cart.

Re: Rumour: Sony Is Gunning For The Switch 2 With A Handheld, Dockable PS6

ChaoticIgnorance

Yeah I just do not understand how this is going to work with Sony losing PILES of money. The Switch/Switch 2 are designed to be "cheap" and Sony doesn't make cheap consoles because most of their audience would riot if they did. So will this cost $1,000? Then it misses the point.

Nintendo's consoles are successful because of the amount of people they reach, not because of what they do. If this is true, good luck Sony.

Re: Poll: When The Heck Is Metroid Prime 4 Actually Launching?

ChaoticIgnorance

I have to be honest, I'm pretty peeved that the general video game news outlet opinion is that Kirby is a game worth putting on a pedestal as one of THE big Nintendo releases this year. It's freaking DLC, man, not a whole new game! Similarly, I don't care what Nintendo says, Warrior's games are C or D tier and should not be tent pole games for the holiday.

Even Pokemon, while technically a tent pole game, should not be counted against other Nintendo releases of the holiday because it will sell no matter what you release around it, and it's a certain subset of Nintendo fans that even play it. I don't think you send other games to die if you release them around it. I don't even play Pokemon or Warrior's games so I have slim pickins this year if MP4 is pushed.

Though Kirby Air Riders looks great, I feel it will be fun for a weekend or two like Mario Kart World.

Re: Oops, Bandai Namco May Have Leaked The Next 'Tales' Series Remaster

ChaoticIgnorance

I would love for them to stop making remasters. Tales of Arise was the first tales game I played in a long time because it was actually built for modern consoles. Typically the Tales games are released at the (heh) tail end of a console and I've already moved on to the next one, or they are remastering a game I've already played and don't need to again.

Get back to making modern Tales games!

Re: Jackbox Party Pack 11 Is Looking Suitably Ridiculous In New Trailer

ChaoticIgnorance

Honestly, I've enjoyed these party packs when I'm at a PAX event because of how many can participate at once, but I have got to be the last holdover left that hasn't purchased one of these personally. I don't mean to be an old curmudgeon (though I absolutely am being one), but I don't like using my phone for these games. The last great You Don't Know Jack game was on the Wii because my family had an absolute blast using the Wii Remotes as trivia buzzers. Some of my family members still have phones from that era so they can't play these party pack games. I also just want the funny trivia. I really could not care less about making sounds into my phone...Bring back You Don't Know Jack!

Re: Xbox Will Reportedly Announce "More Game Ports" For Other Platforms Soon

ChaoticIgnorance

@Punisher67 I'm happy they have worked out for you, but the idea that "you can still resell a game key card" is being spun as a positive blows my mind. That's like expecting a car for your commute to work and admitting that you're 'ok' with being given a bicycle instead. Sure. You can absolutely still commute to work with a bicycle, just like you could absolutely still trade or sell a game key card away. But come on, that's not an acceptable replacement.

The entire idea of game key cards would be going over much better if everyone still had the option of physical on cart as well. But we just don't.

Re: Nintendo Is Seeking Player Feedback On Game-Key Cards In Japan

ChaoticIgnorance

@JohnnyMind Sure, but then they also have no reason to work with Limited Run Games, iam8bit, or FanGamer to make a physical release because the game-key card is there and is the easy option. Personally I would rather have a few physical versions with those third parties than none because every publisher goes the GKC route. Any way you slice it, there's the potentially that I, the physical game collector, gets screwed over by GKC.

Re: Nintendo Is Seeking Player Feedback On Game-Key Cards In Japan

ChaoticIgnorance

@JohnnyMind I'm not sure I agree with your assumption. Nintendo is giving companies the option to produce a game-key card and it is enticing because it is an easy solution. I have a feeling quite a few companies, if they want to enjoy the Switch 2 success, would potentially opt to put real work into making a Switch 2 version that alters the game data to fit on a 64gig card.

But none of them would put that work in if they have the easy option to pick.

Re: No Man's Sky Multiplayer Is Currently Broken On Switch 2, Cross-Saves Also Causing Issues

ChaoticIgnorance

I have plenty of other games to play on Switch 2 for now, including continuing my PC cross-save of Cyberpunk, however it's honestly mind boggling to me that there are cross save snafus happening on day one. I picked the game up because of the excellent sale, but the only thought in my head was that I wanted to continue my PS5 save. I had to do research and jump through a bunch of hoops to get the cross save over to the Switch 2 (including installing the damn game on my PS5 and updating it again), only to find out that the PS5 version was apparently updated literally a day before the Switch 2 launch, rendering my cross save completely bunk.

How dumb is that Hello Games?!

Re: Round Up: The Final Previews Are In For Mario Kart World

ChaoticIgnorance

@IronMan30 I would argue there could be a draw to exploring the world with your friends too. I wasn't expecting Forza levels, but I was hoping for a bit more in the stuff to do out in the world.

For example you could come up on an event with three of your friends where you all have to grind on rails and walls for as long as possible, last one standing takes the victory. It's not a race, but it's an event that could have been cool to find out in the wild. Repeat that with dozens of other cool little one off events and the open world could be just as good, if not better, than simply 'racing with friends'.
