Re: Scalpers Set Their Sights On The Switch OLED As Pre-Orders Go Live In The US

ChaoticIgnorance

"The Nintendo Switch OLED might not have quite as much excitement behind it as the next-generation Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5"

What OLED pre order launch were you a part of Nintendo Life? I had five different websites on my desktop and three on my phone. I was mashing that refresh for near 40 minutes before I could get an order in and I'm still surprised I was able to. Seems gamers are pretty excited to get their hands on it.

Re: Review: The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD - A Remaster That Truly Soars

ChaoticIgnorance

Honestly, I think it's rather scummy to put the amiibo functionality as a con in a games review. The original game didn't have the teleport feature, and the feature is borderline game breaking, so it shouldn't even be a part of the conversation when reviewing the game. Can anyone actually give a reason why the game NEEDS fast travel from anywhere, besides the fact that the functionality exists somewhere in the world? No, they can't. Because there are plenty of statues around the world and it's not that hard to get to one. They're essentially a check point in the game.

Re: Nintendo FAQ Confirms That Switch OLED Joy-Cons Are The Same As Existing Controllers

ChaoticIgnorance

This still doesn't prove anything though. I don't mean to spread rumors after Nintendo supposedly clears up the possibility of rumors, but come on, do you really expect them to come out and say "Yes, you can use your old Joy Con controllers or the new OLED model Joy Con which no longer drift!"? No, they will hide that close to their chest and possibly never bring it up outright because they don't want to admit their failure. And can you blame them, when they have on going court battles over it?

Re: Here's How Nintendo Is Improving Zelda: Skyward Sword HD Over The Wii Original

ChaoticIgnorance

Man, just watching the comparison footage of motion controls and buttons controls, I can't understand why anyone would be excited for button controls. It looks AWFUL. Motion controlling the sword to hit enemies in a specific way was such a cool mechanic that felt incredibly natural. Moving an analog stick to do that feels like a tacked on gimmick.

I guess if it gets more people to experience the precursor to BotW, then I'm all for it, but such a disservice to such a great game.

Re: Yes, Cruis'n Blast Is Getting A Physical Release On Switch

ChaoticIgnorance

I have to be honest, when I saw this shown in the direct I thought "Oh, that's neat. I may look into that at some point.". However now that I'm seeing a full trailer I'm noticing things that remind me of Burnout, like the destruction of opponents on the track, and I'm fully on board with this! Looks like a ton of fun.

Re: Overwatch 2 Is Removing The Second Tank Slot From PVP Teams

ChaoticIgnorance

I'm not entirely against this idea and I understand the immediate benefits of doing it, but I'm also not entirely for it either. I play tank 50% of the time, but that's because I love running around as Roadhog to switch up my usual damage heroes. If there can only be me on a team then I won't play Roadhog anymore because I would hate the pressure. I don't play MMOs because of this role lock stuff, so I won't want to do it here either.

Re: Yes, Link's Improved "Fast Travel" In Skyward Sword HD Really Does Seem To Be Locked Behind An amiibo

ChaoticIgnorance

Every game does NOT need fast travel. Some games are designed around the travel feature and a game that takes place in the sky, with a skyloft, would OF COURSE be designed around traveling with your skyloft. Thus Skyward Sword is not the kind of game that would benefit from a universal fast travel all the time. Which means this is an extra 'cheat code' for those that wish to use it. It is NOT a scumbag move on Nintendo's part, but providing a fun thing for the young kids that would buy this amiibo. Now lets move on from this asinine complaining.

Re: Here's How E3 2021's Online Portal And App Will Work, Including Its Virtual Exhibitor Booths

ChaoticIgnorance

Most people would rather watch simple videos on YouTube or twitch, but I think they could make this a lot of fun digitally. I picture something like the expo hall map of a PAX convention where everything is labeled by company and/or publisher. You can zoom in on the map and it auto updates to show more detail, and when you zoom all the way in on a booth you get different "pop-out bubbles" for different aspects of the booth. Company/publisher/game info, videos (live or not), merch list, maybe an ad or two, etc. Zoom back out and scroll around to see what else interests you. The map could be organized logically (as I imagine most convention show floors already are) putting similar games or companies near each other. You could tag a booth that you want to check out later on. Maybe there's a way for you to add booths to a schedule list of upcoming live demos.

But of course we'll get a boring ad invested website with simple links to different locations and a clusterf**k of a message board.

Re: Dragon Quest 35th Anniversary Stream Will Reveal New Game Information

ChaoticIgnorance

I mean, 'a new line-up' sounds like it's literally not going to be DQXII or Builders 3. It sounds like it would be something entirely different and my money is on it being something mobile, unfortunately.

But my dream game would be a sequel to Dragon Quest Heroes: Rocket Slime from the DS. One of my favorite DQ games and top three for the DS for me personally. Not sure why a sequel never happened in the west.

Re: The Iconic Action-RPG Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance Is Out Today On Nintendo Switch

ChaoticIgnorance

Man, I don't mean to be a Debbie-downer, but back in the day I felt this game was hot trash. Still surprises me to hear that I was basically 100% alone on that thought.

I remember being in love with Diablo 2 and Baldur's Gate, and then looking at this game and thinking "sooo which game are they trying to be? Because it looks like they failed to realize what was great about both games and gave us a Gauntlet 64 rip off instead."

Re: Sony Survey Reportedly Asking Fans If They've Heard Of The Burnout Series

ChaoticIgnorance

Last played Need for Speed on the Gamecube. Haven't enjoyed a game in that series since. Last enjoyed the Burnout series with Burnout Revenge. Would love to see the series return to it's arcade racing roots and go big on the destruction again, which was literally the reason I tried Burnout 3 at an EBGames demo kiosk and then bought the game on the spot. The destruction has since gone on to be an afterthought it seems.

Re: Ouch! NES Collector Recalls The Time He Threw Out Packaging Worth $4,000 To 'Save Space'

ChaoticIgnorance

This move literally does not compute with me. I feel like you save virtually nothing when you remove the box of an NES game and I had the mindset to save all boxes when I was ten years old. Heck I still have all the boxes for my Lego sets and Transformer action figures.

Even back in the 80's and 90's you could see collectors of 60's/70's toys regretting throwing away boxes to products. This shouldn't have been some massive secret.

Re: Soapbox: Animal Crossing Is A Daily Delight, But These Aren't Really 'Updates', Are They?

ChaoticIgnorance

I thought the DS version should have had monthly updates of new furniture items and new villagers. I thought the same thing for the Wii version. And then again for the 3DS one. I knew going into this Switch game that it would be the same and I also knew that all the new comers were going to wish for what I gave up on years ago.

Hopefully it doesn't play out as predicted for a fourth time, but so far it seems like it will.

Honestly I think the furniture lineup is disappointing as it is already so they really do need to give us a giant Ikea catalogue update in early summer.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (April 16th)

ChaoticIgnorance

Man, I haven't played Fez in ten years so replaying it felt like the first time (I had forgotten a lot of the puzzle aspects, so it was fresh again). And I must say, I'm nearing the end and I have that feeling of depression after finishing a really good book. I'm trying to figure out what game is going to fill that hole and I don't think there is one. Fez is like nothing else and I'm looking at the video game industry in disgust right now because of how lame everything seems in comparison...

Get better guys!

Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl #83 - Brain Age / Brain Training

ChaoticIgnorance

The US an European versions are so similar that it's tough to pick one over the other. It really comes down to color preference and I feel most would pick the blue over yellow. But for me, I'm bothered by the smaller head with a pointless circle around it. The US version doesn't have that useless circle and fills the entire box with the head. Color aside, I think it's a much better design with less wasted space.

Re: Preview: Story of Seasons: Pioneers Of Olive Town Is Not Quite As Pioneering As We'd Hoped

ChaoticIgnorance

There definitely seems to be more 'makers' here than in Stardew Valley, but I'm honestly surprised more comparisons were not drawn. In Stardew I have quite a few of them taking up a lot of space on my farm and it can be frustrating, but this article calls out the space hogging in Story of Seasons like it wasn't done in SV. Same with the chests that take up a lot of room.

Does Stardew Valley have a fix for this that I'm not aware of, or is there something different with the way SoS does it? Maybe SoS has less farm space overall?

Re: Memory Pak: When Harvest Moon Taught Me About Death

ChaoticIgnorance

A Wonderful Life is honestly the last time I really loved a Harvest Moon game. It was such a change from the previous games in the series and those graphics at the time were incredible. And then they went back to the 'meh' graphics and lost a lot of the unique aspects of AWL and I just couldn't enjoy the series anymore.

They were going in such a good direction and they did a 180.

Re: Video: Get A Closer Look At Super Nintendo World's Mario Kart: Koopa's Challenge Ride

ChaoticIgnorance

Originally I was expecting a Mario Kart roller coaster. Especially with the crazy tracks of Mario kart 8, I think this would have worked out great. But as it is, this ride still looks pretty awesome and I sometimes forget that Nintendo is a company for all ages and not simply those that would be able to ride a roller coaster. The height requirements are unfortunate in that regard...

Re: Random: WandaVision's Latest Episode Sneaks In Some Nintendo References

ChaoticIgnorance

I have not watched WandaVision yet, but I would imagine they used Gamecube and Wii controllers because they were different enough to get the point across about the time jump. If you put a PS2 controller next to a PS5 controller, they're really not that different. Especially at a quick glance. The OG Xbox controller may have worked in a side by side with the current Xbox controller, but they're still not as different as the Gamecube and Wii controllers.
