Re: Talking Point: Will You Be Buying Any Game-Key Card Switch 2 Games?

ChaoticIgnorance

I don't know if we need to worry about the next Zelda. It sounds like Nintendo first party games will still be on the cart, but of course nothing is confirmed until we see it.

Right now I plan to buy Mario Kart World and MAYBE Cyberpunk because I want to continue my PC save that I've heard will be possible on Switch 2. Other than that, there were a few other launch day games I was considering picking up and once I saw "game-key card" I decided to get them elsewhere (like PS5) or not at all.

This move is disgusting and I hope they don't sell.

Re: Poll: So, Did You Manage To Get A Switch 2 Pre-Order In? (North America)

ChaoticIgnorance

Not great poll questions for me. Between my fiance and me, we got three consoles: one from Best By, one from Target, and one from Walmart. The Best Buy pre-order is for the bundle, while the other two are for the base console only. You never know which store you can trust these days and we have friends that we may be able to sell these to in the future, at cost.

Honestly, the overall experience for us, while long and stressful during the wait (took until almost 2:00am to snag them) was not that bad. I had a worse time during 2020/2021 trying to secure a PS5. Literal years of trying to get one and failing over and over. For Switch 2? We got three within the first two hours of sales. Not bad.

Re: Subnautica 2's PC System Requirements Have Been Revealed - Could Switch 2 Handle It?

ChaoticIgnorance

"Indeed, Unknown Worlds has only just announced that the game will remain in the 2025 window and not be delayed into 2026 via a new Dev Vlog (above)."

See, that to me says it IS delayed until 2026. I don't count early access as "released" and I typically never play games in early access these days. Especially something like Subnautica, which I did play the first game in early access and my save had to be wiped 3-4 times over that time period. Made it incredibly demotivating to ACTUALLY play through the game once it "released".

Re: "We MUST Resist Buying These Game-Key Releases", Says GamesMaster Host

ChaoticIgnorance

I'm hearing a lot of the same comments here...

1. Physical lovers should get over it.
2. This is a better solution than game keys in the box
3. Games haven't been complete on the disc/cart in a long time

1. No one should get over anything they don't care for and speaking with your wallet is an excellent way to look for change. That doesn't mean anyone is forcing anyone else to do anything. You do what you want. But this host has a right to get the word out that we shouldn't buy these games.

2. Saying a glitter dusted turd is better than a turd is hardly worthy praise, so lets stop trying to sell that as a good thing. A turd is a turd no matter the turd.

3. While it is true that games have not been complete on disc/cart for a while now, in most cases you can still play the games without having to download a day one patch first. Just disconnect from the internet and pop a disc in. It works. Obviously this doesn't solve any game breaking bugs that may be on those discs/carts, but it is what most physical lovers are looking for.

Re: Talking Point: Where Should 'Luigi's Mansion 4' Take Place?

ChaoticIgnorance

Disagree that the first was too short. I think 2 and 3 were too long and the first game is still the best because it was just as long as it needed to be.

I think the best "place" they could go next is another haunted mansion, but have you moving through either different points in time, or through different dimentional versions of the same mansion. That would increase the length of the game, but not make the locations feel forced, which was my biggest problem with the sequels. That lived in feeling of the first game was still the best.

Re: Poll: So, What Did You Think Of The Switch 2 Reveal?

ChaoticIgnorance

Honestly, I don't mean to be dramatic, but it really didn't feel like Nintendo to me. The device does look pretty slick and I like the subtle reds and blues, but I also typically roll my eyes at black consoles. They're not "classy" to me and they feel like lazy modern choices.

I'm still holding out hope that the mouse functionality is as great as it sounds (playing Diablo 4 and Civ VII on SW2 would be great!), and that there are cool new software features like the return of streetpass. But right now, I don't have much to be excited about.

Not to mention I didn't even realize that was a NEW Mario Kart until someone told me. It looks completely unoriginal and not that much better than the already gorgeous MK8. And don't get me started on the name...It's the most unlike Nintendo of all and I'm not a fan. But it's a personal gripe and I get the choice.

Re: Talking Point: Our 2025 Nintendo Gaming Predictions

ChaoticIgnorance

My biggest hope/prediction is also (knowing Nintendo) a bit too far fetched. I want Animal Crossing at launch so that we have the full run of the consoles life cycle with the game. That way Nintendo can periodically release new content every month or quarter. And not the basic boring holiday items they had for New Horizons. I want new furniture sets every month for YEARS to keep me interested in coming back for the entire consoles run. Otherwise I play every AC game for about 1.5-2 years and then full stop.

I wanted "DLC" for Animal Crossing in City Life on the Wii, and for New Horizons. But Nintendo being Nintendo, you have to add on 10+ years to your ideas that seem obvious in the moment. I think AC on the Switch successor is the best time to finally do it, Nintendo!

Re: Rumour: Switch "Successor" Will Be Backwards Compatible, It's Claimed

ChaoticIgnorance

"Nintendo is officially referring to this new device as the "Switch successor", which already suggests there could be some sort of connection to the current hardware."

Does it though? Nintendo would have called the Wii the Gamecube Successor behind closed doors, probably.

And honestly I've been calling it the Switch Successor instead of the Switch 2 for years because the latter spreads unnecessary rumors and high expectations. We still don't officially know that it will be anything like a Switch 2.

Re: Nintendo's Official Magazine For Summer 2024 Gets English Digital Release

ChaoticIgnorance

Does anyone else think it would be cool to see a gaming website that looks and feels like flipping through an old magazine? You could click on images and links right on the page, whether they would jump you to an article later in the issue, pop up a little info window on what you're looking at, or even bring you to an external site if you click on an ad.

I understand modern day web design has a purpose, but sometimes I'm sick of the same design that caters more to the ad companies than the way in which the user consumes the content.

Re: Nintendo Direct June 2024: Time, Where To Watch, What To Expect

ChaoticIgnorance

Really low expectations here. We're going to get continued looks at essentially everything we already know about: Luigi's Mansion 2, Super Monkey Ball, Epic Mickey: Rebrushed, World of Goo 2, Fantasy Life, etc. Then we'll have the random indie title thrown in there and MAYBE one big tease for something from 2025. DO NOT expect anything more than this or you'll be disappointed.

And for me personally, if the majority of what we get is ports of games I've played a million times, then it will be pretty disappointing overall. I don't usually re-buy games because I still own them from before.
