One of the easiest amiibo sets to get with a Gamestop pre order. It's a few of the older Smash amiibo that I wish would come back in stock because I had a short spell in the middle where I wasn't picking them up at all, not realizing I was screwing myself in completing the whole Smash set.
I picked up Mario Kart 8 for the Switch this week (a nice Prime day sale) and I forgot not only how much I loved the game when I put 80 hours into it on the Wii U, but how much I hate it for destroying any possibility for an F-Zero sequel.
Especially considering I was reminded of how much MK8 feels NOTHING like F-Zero despite having occasional zero gravity, and tracks that loop upside down. It's such a tease and I hate how much fun I'm having, while also crying because it's not what I REALLY want.
@Serpenterror You're not wrong, but I think the thing with F-Zero is the graphics have the potential to be incredible. The Gamecube game looked great, but the system didn't sell that much. Creating a new game on Switch (or its successor) could bring in amazing graphics and a lot more players. Judging the series on GBA games isn't fair.
Tears would be my Switch game of the year, but I think overall it's still Hogwarts Legacy. I've had so much fun slowly playing through that since February. I get so immersed in that game.
If there were no exclusives I would simply own a Switch for the portability, leaving both Sony and Microsoft out of luck with my business. Because otherwise there are a number of practices that those companies employ that I'm not a fan of.
Sounds to me like Microsoft only gets my business if it HAS exclusives because I'm picking up an Xbox Series X because I want to play Starfield.
Don't sleep on Little Nemo and the Guardians of Slumberland. I backed the kickstarter last year and it's been awesome to follow along in the development.
You can play a demo on Steam for this week only and it feels and sounds great so far.
To each their own, I guess. I felt the dungeons in BotW were forgettable, at best. While I've only done the Ruto dungeon in TotK, I feel it's mostly the same. They are a slight bit better, but I'm still not as impressed by them as I was some of the dungeons in Skyward Sword and Twilight Princess.
Oh man, I'm the opposite. Pikmin 2 is the black sheep of the series because I'm not a fan of the bland cave levels and the day cycle is what Pikmin is all about. It was nice though, that Pikmin 3 wasn't as strict as the first game was. You were given a significant number of extra days if you wanted to use some to simply mess around and enjoy yourself.
I enjoyed the DS Animal Crossing game for quite a while, but I quickly learned that AC is simple NOT a portable system game to me. I first played AC on the Gamecube on Christmas morning of 2002 and I just love getting lost in my village on the big screen so much more. My vote has to go to Horizons for that reason.
I've never played any Persona game and I've been patiently waiting for a Swtich version of this one to arrive. I have other consoles as well, but I've been waiting simply to support Nintendo's platform so I can't wait to finally give this one a shot. And then maybe go back and play older games in the series.
I've only played a handful of the games mentioned here, but if I'm being honest nothing has ever been a 'Zelda clone' to me, or captured the essence of a Zelda game.
To me, Zelda is not about the dungeons, the puzzles, or the combat, though I will admit that if any of those three are missing, then the game is lesser for it (looking at you, BotW, with your missing dungeons). For me, Zelda is about the atmosphere and the world. The whimsical child-like charm of the characters and the brooding evil (though not too much) undertones. Games like Tunic NAIL Zelda in just about every way, but fail to have a similar feel to their world.
I would say games like Stardew Valley or Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life have more in common with Zelda than a lot of these games mentioned. Even Star Fox Adventures (a game hated by most, but loved by me personally) has more in common with Zelda than these games.
As others have said, these games are fantastic, but most of the time they simply make me wish I were playing a Zelda game. I'm here "patiently" waiting for someone to figure out the Zelda formula.
(Eastward comes pretty darn close though, I have to say. My GotY last year next to Deathloop).
Two of the biggest influences on me were Fallout music and Endless Ocean on the Wii. The former opened up an entire world of music for me and I now constantly listen to 1920's-1950's music. Like, all day every day.
With Endless Ocean I was introduced to Hayley Westenra who is now one of my favorite singers and who got me into other female vocalists.
For some reason this one didn't grab me as much as the remake of A Wonderful Life. The latter is my favorite Harvest Moon pre name change and while I don't love the art, I'm still excited to pick it up.
Harvestella feels very much like a Rune Factory type game, but I can't put my finger on what I don't love. I wasn't aware there was a demo though, so I'll have to go check that out.
I'm still convinced the majority of people are overthinking this reveal (or underthinking?). Miyamoto just revealed green pikmin and nobody noticed. (other than the one guy in the comments above)
Honestly they couldn't bait me enough to jump on Splatoon 2 so soon after I played the first game. But enough time has passed that I've been looking forward to jumping in to Splatoon 3 with somewhat fresh eyes.
I hear a lot of people say that game announcements get lost when too many things are announced at the same time (an argument against a returning E3). However I find the opposite true for myself. If a game is announced on a random Tuesday afternoon, I'm more likely to miss it or have little to no excitement when I do find out about it. Big reveal showcases (and E3) are necessary in my eyes to build the hype.
Random comparison, but follow me here...Going by what little I've seen of NieR, would I enjoy it if Scarlett Nexus is one of my favorite games from 2021?
How ironic that the third Prime (while not terrible), is really rather forgettable when compared to the previous two. Maybe if they tried copying a good shooter, like Half Life 2, then they would have had been success.
Jokes (or are they?) aside, I think Nintendo's philosophy is a really good one, and we probably wouldn't have gotten a lot of games if it weren't for this tactic. There's a reason Pikmin is an RTS, but nothing like other RTS games. There's also a reason Splatoon is a shooter, but unlike any other shooter. Keep this type of design going Nintendo!
I'm honestly a bit confused. I thought the Metroid Prime Trilogy was the long rumored thing to be in the works. About five months ago I started hearing everyone talking about a Prime 1 remake/remaster/whatever and now it's like I live in a world where THAT'S the thing that's been rumored for years...what gives!?
Ironically I still can't stand the look of Twilight Princess. Other than a few story moments, and a couple of memorable moments (dungeon of time), the whole game is so forgettable and I think one of the weakest in the series.
Wind Waker is such a freakin gem and I never understand how anyone could hate the look of it.
You can count the number of non violent games on one hand at SGF. And most were shooty shoot, or modern or later in setting. Where's my fantasy games or more stylized stuff?
Every time Kirby's celebration comes up, I'm shocked, SHOCKED, that a Kirby Game and Watch is not also brought up. We got two in two years so far, why wouldn't we get a third? And a few early Kirby games would be absolutely perfect on one of those little handhelds.
Out of the hundreds of games that come to these physical distributing companies, I think I see half a dozen that I'd be interested in. TMNT is definitely one of them, but I hope there are more this year that I'm interested in. I think last year I had zero interested released.
This isn't any different than the limited time you can play every other AC game in the series. It's not like Nintendo tries to hide this so I'm not sure why this is suddenly hitting the news outlets.
Unfortunately I'm still not one of them. I'm honestly not sure what Nintendo could do to entice me to switch to the higher tier. I own every game I've ever purchased (with maybe a half dozen exceptions) back to the 80's so I don't care for the retro games. And the DLC is simply not worth the value to me over buying them outright.
Yeeeeaaah, still doesn't do it for me. It looks like it may be faster than the first game (but it's been a while so I don't know for sure), but there's something still off about it, coming from an F-Zero fan. The cars are too big, there's not enough of them, the tracks don't seem to be wild enough...Still waiting for my F-Zero replacement if Nintendo won't give us a sequel.
Honestly, I've never found the Star Fox series enjoyable. I wouldn't say they are bad games because I can definitely see how they can be fun for others. But for me, rail shooters have always been kind of meh, unless I'm outside my 90's cinema shooting zombies.
Star Fox Adventures though...Something about it just felt right. I had so much fun and it was so similar to other great games on the Gamecube. It will always be my favorite of the series.
I could not be less interested in a port of Wind Waker considering the tablet additions were the best part. In fact I wouldn't care for either port considering, knowing Nintendo, they would use them as "the big holiday releases" which would leave me with nothing to look forward to playing. I'm selfish, I know.
How does this handle the disparity in the number of games released by each company? If one company releases one game that gets a 90, and another company releases ten games from 70-100, is it really fair to say the one game company is ranked higher? Does it even matter at that point?
Wow, been out on Steam for a year? Does anyone else find it difficult to discover games that are released on Steam? I've never heard of this title, but would have loved to have played it when it launched.

It was not clear to me based on the info in the direct, but will the designed facilities be one of the new things you can "bring back to your island" with you? I see so many people making little cafes on their island and I can't stand the look of them because they're outdoor. But if I can put a cafe building down somewhere and design the interior, then I'm all for it!
IGN says this is the last update for Animal Crossing, period. Nintendolife (as I thought) says this is the last FREE update, implying there will be many more paid DLC packages in the future. I don't know who to believe...
