@Anti-Matter while I'm more lenient and not as passionate as your thoughts against this, you do bring up a good point of how a Yakuza character could be included in a game that looks to be rated E for Everyone in my region. Obviously free advertising for other Sega IP and a treat for those fans. I wasn't too sheltered from stuff as a youngster (i have older siblings) but i could see it being odd if a young kid asks their parents "what's Yakuza mean?" after playing an innocent racing game. It is always good to question the integrity of corporations, why they do things, etc. so I'm with you there even though i don't agree with this particular argument.
One of my best friends and I still talk in the 'moo' language which is rooted from us playing the South Park game on (I believe) the N64. I remember a 'cow gun' in it as well that was silly. Whole game was perfect comedic fodder for idiot 10/11 year olds like ourselves
Xenoblade CX DE ‐ I'm truly hooked by this point. I think I'm only on chapter 5 (maybe 6?) but have been completing plenty of other affinity+normal missions as I explore. Have a great weekend everyone.
@Purgatorium people have their own tastes but I agree with you. Growing up with FF4, I've always thought it has a perfect pace and length. The added content from gba was thoughtful at most but didn't really do much for me, truly didnt mind it being removed from Pixel Remasters. Haven't played this one so have no opinion either way
What can I say? Well done. I remember the SNES days with the Players Choice stickers on the box indicating sales of 1 million+ as a big feat. Must seem humorous now considering how many games blow that out the water, including MKW nearing it in first week in Japan alone
@Daniel36 I did almost the same for Tactics Ogre, think it was week or two after. Was well worth it in the end (had never played and I loved it) but yeah, smart move for this one
@Duncanballs I think if you can read a comment at all then that person has not blocked you. I noticed it when ppl replied to other ppls comments that I couldn't see because they blocked me. Fortunately they eventually unblocked me, I enjoy their perspectives.
Would be nice if they re-release the 3D All Stars. They've sold a bazillion consoles since then and some of us (regrettably) didn't scoop it at the time. Wishful thinking...
Started Xenoblade Chronicles X this week. Still establishing myself in NLA so still early but I'm already really enjoying it and figure this will be a slow-burn, summer title for me given the amount of content. Have a great weekend, everyone
For me not much will change, whenever I get Switch 2. Based on a combo of "limited" gaming time and interests, I've always tried to purchase games I'm (mostly) sure I'd actually play through, whether they're $5 or $50. I'm sure I've passed up on some awesome titles due to my limited scope but at the same time I haven't felt a major financial or mental hit and have enjoyed plenty of old+new titles.
@-wc- you make a lot of good points and this response isn't arguing any. I think more than anything, the FF6 comparison just shows how much more 70 bucks could go back then and relatively speaking, 80 bucks now doesn't go as far as 70 then. Meaning in 1994, instead of purchasing FF6 for $70 you could like fill up the car, grab movie tickets with snacks and so on with some change. While today 80 might just fill up the tank and maybe get you a single movie ticket with snack (I'm using vague, uncited examples, I know). But more or less that's how interpreted it. I know it doesn't address other points like cartridge production or greedy profiteers but in terms of bang for your buck it might not be too far off
I'd appreciate it only because it'd save me online fees in the long run. I like to play with a friend on XS and as far as I can tell, there's no option i find cheap enough for me to get for Xbox online. I don't use game pass and just the base online is much more than Nintendo's
@datamonkey I grew up with it so my opinions definitely a little skewed. I think NL gave an 8/10 which is around the highest I'd give it to from what i remember. The original (not remastered) soundtrack is still fantastic, the dialog/story is fun and dont think its an overly long title. Not sure how someone would find the battle system without ever playing it, perhaps a little simple depending on taste. Hopefully you have a great time with it (whenever that time exists!)
Super Mario RPG still, hope to make a big dent in it after getting Geno. Also got XCX as an anniversary gift and will be able to pick up my copies of Castlevania Dominus collection and Freedom Planet 2. Truly blessed with this many games, if only I had more time this weekend. Have a great one folks!
Ngl a majority of my MK8 time is in Battle mode, it's great in short spurts and I was disappointed the dlc didn't add more battle maps. Looking forward to MKWs offerings
Some of the NSO Keychains make for good tree ornaments btw, if you have any tucked in a drawer. I know i hang Cat-Mario from 3DW and something Splatoon, they look great
@shgamer thank you for this, good to know. I got the Japanese edition of Street Fighter collection to combat this, it can also have ridiculously easy AI but I can find a happy medium (and i don't mind super hard stuff either but I wanna beat it in the end). Hopefully the same here, thanks again.
Can anyone confirm if the arcade modes have absurd AI opponents on any of these? I don't always feel like playing online but don't wanna waste my time if the CPU is unbeatable
Hmm I guess I see the complaint that $70 without dlc is annoying. But just expecting a dlc to be included I'm not sure about, so many other older games continue to sell those separately for a while, even with bundles.
Curious how a company like LRG will fit in with S2 games when the time comes, like if they will be the 'best' option for game-on-cart releases even moreso or if they'd somehow do this too
@Anti-Matter I will say although disappointing from the start, have faith something you'd want will eventually come out. The system isn't out yet and hopefully has a fruitful lifespan with a variety of games
Started Super Mario RPG, I forgot how funny n charming it was after all this time. Square+Nintendo was such a dream collab in the 90s. I also finished Final Fantasy 2 and was pleasantly surprised the difficulty went up some in the second half. Not a stone cold classic but happy I played. Have a great one folks!
If I ever paid $80 for a single game (which I wouldn't given sales) I'd feel obligated to play and try n love the heck out of it to get my moneys worth. At the same time, I don't need every game to be some sprawling 100+ hour time sink, so 80 for like a 2D mario would feel odd to me. Overall I understand but its disappointing
Final Fantasy 2 pixel remaster. Loving the plot and everything but boy is it an easy game. I'm basically auto-piloting a majority of battles, which I'm okay with but wish it was more challenging. I heard ff3 is a little more balanced. After this it's back to the backlog. Have a good weekend folks.
@Spider-Kev i bought metroid dread for $49.99 at WM right after release and keep holding onto that. Absolutely hasn't happened since. Thanks, we shall see
@johnedwin do you ever provide sources for your numbers or do you just make up stuff for fun? I'm genuinely asking because you say this type of stuff week in week out and I've politely asked for numbers before but I never see them
Not trying to completely dunk on it but I'd be disappointed if I bought Harvestella full price. I gave it an honest effort for a fraction of the msrp and sold it. It wasn't bad, maybe a tad undercooked for me but no way $60
With my backlog and schedule I won't get it anytime soon. But the trailers, reviews and comments (both good and bad) have me feeling I'll get this as my first Xeno title eventually, it looks pretty sweet to get lost in
They fixed the mini map togglings, wooo! I hated turning them off every time I switched rooms in FF1, I hope this is what that means. I'm going in fresh to FF2 and FF3 and would hate being tempted/guided by the mini map all the time
It's a game kinda ingrained in me,having played it on release when I was 7/8 yrs old and many times after. I probably haven't played since like 2011 and would love a reissue/remake/whatever. I often think how I (or anyone) would find it after playing for the first time now, simply because it's a special part of my gaming childhood n beyond, definite bias here

@Anti-Matter so you don't like/own any of the Marvel vs Capcom games?

Pretty decent numbers for the XS, right?
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (10th May)
