Re: Dragon Quest I & II HD Remake's Brand New Underwater Region Is Beautiful

CammyUnofficial

This does look fantastic, sadly my backlog will prevent me from playing for quite a while.

@LastFootnote I recently finished Final Fantasy 3 Pixel remaster and the underwater region was such a neat idea but absolutely barren minus a couple of caves, plus you dont move as fast as the airship. Im going to guess it had something to do with storage limitations (maybe?) during NES days but yeah, that and im sure other games' underwater parts can be a drag. PS at least the underwater song in FF3 is great:

Re: Review: Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition - An Excellent Port Of A Timeless Classic

To nitpick a nitpick - I'm playing through the Final Fantasy Pixel remasters and I think a con for those is the updated soundtrack. Thank God I can change back into the original ost but I cant see that being a negative for me here. Throwing a 40-piece orchestra to interpret every song with no changes in mood doesn't really do it for me. Not saying it cant be done right (like FF12) and maybe this OST does actually need a polish, but just my opinion on those things. Great review, thanks

@JohnnyMind I've only played Ys Origin, one time, and it was a really fun intro to the series with replay value too. I have a physical of Felghana, which looks similar in graphics to Origin and more my style, but yet to play it. Im not sure how I feel about the graphics for this one but discovering Ys as a series has been a delight so far, hope you one day enjoy as much

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (16th August)

Started Final Fantasy 3 Pixel Remaster on Switch, pretty good so far.

Separately, while cleaning out stuff in my childhood home, I found a Gamecube with Metroid Prime, Starfox, F Zero GX, Wind Waker and Beyond Good and Evil. Curious part is my long-gone GC was purple (this one's gray) and I have never owned/played these games (pretty sure they belonged to a friend who says they don't remember), so it was an amazing find to say the least. Have a great weekend everyone!

@Tyranexx ahh that's awesome to hear. I feel the same, definitely up there for me in the genre. Funnily enough I've owned the first Steamworld Dig for a while but never jumped in - I think the second one cast that long of a shadow I couldn't do it. I think enough time has passed where I should try, especially after hearing (more) that its good. Have a good one!

Re: Preview: Donkey Kong Bananza - DK's Getting His Own Odyssey, And It's A Helluva Trip

CammyUnofficial

What's funny is the first couple paragraphs are the reasons I couldn't get into Odyssey. I think the developers made the game they meant to and it was really well done, plus I know ppl really love it, but it felt bloated and didnt really grab me. That many moons with little direction is just not intriguing to me as a Mario game.

DK looks a lot more fun somehow, even knowing the similarities. Will probably watch parts of playthrus to see if its something id dig but overall happy the franchise is getting the spotlight, im sure ppl will love it

@Anti-Matter while I'm more lenient and not as passionate as your thoughts against this, you do bring up a good point of how a Yakuza character could be included in a game that looks to be rated E for Everyone in my region. Obviously free advertising for other Sega IP and a treat for those fans. I wasn't too sheltered from stuff as a youngster (i have older siblings) but i could see it being odd if a young kid asks their parents "what's Yakuza mean?" after playing an innocent racing game. It is always good to question the integrity of corporations, why they do things, etc. so I'm with you there even though i don't agree with this particular argument.

Re: Back Page: Every Game Should Have A Cow

One of my best friends and I still talk in the 'moo' language which is rooted from us playing the South Park game on (I believe) the N64. I remember a 'cow gun' in it as well that was silly. Whole game was perfect comedic fodder for idiot 10/11 year olds like ourselves

Re: Talking Point: With Prices Rising, Are Your Gaming Habits Changing?

CammyUnofficial

For me not much will change, whenever I get Switch 2. Based on a combo of "limited" gaming time and interests, I've always tried to purchase games I'm (mostly) sure I'd actually play through, whether they're $5 or $50. I'm sure I've passed up on some awesome titles due to my limited scope but at the same time I haven't felt a major financial or mental hit and have enjoyed plenty of old+new titles.
