Re: Review: Wild Card Football - An Ambitious Take On Gridiron Lacking A Full Deck

@HeadPirate sure, I'm not saying anything is okay or not okay. If someone says they won't buy a game because of XYZ then so be it. Kotick wasn't going to be a good example, I acknowledge that and thank you for the nuanced civil response. I don't mean to stir anything up on this topic either, best keep my mouth shut sometimes. I actually agree with you too, I just didn't think the comments necessitated removal or thread lock I guess

@HeadPirate I'm sure some ppl went out of their way to hate on Kap, but at the same time are voicing an opinion on why they won't pick up this package. If a Blizzard review is overhauled by anti-Kotick statements saying they'd never touch one of their games as long as he's involved, sounds similar to me and par for the course? Maybe I'm wrong or missing it. Sorry about your friend though

Re: Random: Making "Miyamoto Happy" Isn't The Goal Of Development, According To Pikmin 4's Creators

CammyUnofficial

@EriXz i hear ya, it's always good to remember ppl have a plethora of emotions that can be expressed, its easy to just dismiss someone as a d*** after an encounter or something but may not be the case overall, or at least best to not let cynicism take over

I worked at an immigration law firm, my boss was a partner. Sweetest most laid back guy in about every setting, but there was the occasional story of him getting mad, cussing, etc. That's not "good" but ppl (i.e. smaller fish, myself included) knew him beyond that and were truly dedicated / happy to work for him for years

Re: Soapbox: Can You Really 'Spoil' A Mario Game?

CammyUnofficial

@BenAV same - if I catch a glimpse of like a certain character or the fact there's some alternate world or airship later in a game, then that can slightly spoil it for me. The anticipation I'd have waiting on them/it to appear takes away part of the sense of discovery. I hate it more in movies/sequels, but have seen it happen with games.

Re: Shigeru Miyamoto Thanks Charles Martinet For Being The Voice Of Mario In Heartfelt Message

CammyUnofficial

@delt75 my example has been Luigis mansion 3, which has little lines of dialogue that are unique to the game (answering telephones, calling for help, any cut scenes). I feel recycling could only go so far and might hinder future games in a sense. I'm sure Nintendo intends to pump out Mario games for another 40 years, so it's reasonable they'd move on (at some point). Edit - also commercials, promos, theme park stuff etc, might need a refresh

Either way, very touching send-off, wish CM the best

Re: Super Mario Bros. Wonder Had No Deadline During Its Prototype Phase

CammyUnofficial

@Anti-Matter I think the point is you seem to have your mind made up about not buying this and find an excuse to announce that on every article. The question isn't 'are you excited for Wonder?' like you said. It's "Do you think Nintendo's creativity will be on full display in this upcoming release?" which is a subtly different question in general and more different in the context of this article being about development deadlines, the creative process etc. No one thinks you're a villain and anyone should feel free to comment on games they don't want or even hate. But you are really just repeating yourself and being off-topic at this point

Re: Soapbox: Red Dead Redemption Ignited My Enduring Love Of The Old West

CammyUnofficial

I grew up with westerns so Gun and Red dead revolver on the xbox were huge for me as a teen. Even my mom (rip) would watch me play those some, really liking the settings n all. Never upgraded my xbox til the XS so havent gotten around to RDR, i'll scoop it at some point with all the fuss

In terms of recommendations for oldies - maybe try the Naked Spur with James Stewart n Janet Leigh. I wasnt blown away by it but definitely solid and well shot

Re: Mario VA Charles Martinet Also "Not Involved" With WarioWare: Move It!

CammyUnofficial

@-wc-
Mmm wario has said a lot more at least in the nintendo directs when introducing games. I havent played new warioware(s) so cant say how much in-game voicing is involved.

For mario, idk anything about AI but I'm not sure about the recordings either. Certain mainline games could take a slightly different direction with how much mario talks. I am absolutely NOT talking about full on in depth dialogues or whatever, but even in certain cut scenes (I think luigis mansion 3 had some) they may need mario to say something, whether that be the same minimal expressions or add a bit more. And future sports games, Mario's gotta yell 'touch-a-down!' at some point

Re: Review: Red Dead Redemption - A Fine But No-Frills Switch Port, For A Fistful Of Dollars

CammyUnofficial

@Deviant-Dork maybe a separate type of review category for ports would be good. Like I kinda get it - if Casablanca was re-released in a new blu ray then I'm sure the review would focus on the package as a whole, cause like what could you say about the movie that hasnt been said before? Quality and bang for buck would be involved. It's a fine line and think the reviewer did well in acknowledging the price here.

But overall I agree - a 10/10 game speaks for itself. I'd pay good money for even older games

Re: Talking Point: The Games We Got Rid Of - What Were We Thinking?

CammyUnofficial

@SoapMonki I hear ya, it's crazy the craving to play a game after so many years. I felt the 'growing up' thing too and I now realize that like some games you don't get over, even after you beat them to the ground. A good game can stick with or open itself back up to you decades down the road, so I'm more careful with selling off stuff anymore

Re: Talking Point: The Games We Got Rid Of - What Were We Thinking?

I had some rough ones to lose/sell after being whisked away from the us after college. Chibi Robo, Castlevania 4 (w/box), few more SNES titles. No regrets necessarily, just makes me all the more thankful the Switch has covered most that I've lost in some form. Although I do miss a couple GB carts I never recuperated, like golden sun

Re: Take-Two CEO Defends Red Dead Redemption's $50 Price Tag, Says It's "Commercially Accurate"

CammyUnofficial

@electrolite77 let me elaborate. ive seen it where someone wanted to purchase a $40 digital edition of a game because they were sick of getting up to change the cart out. They can spend their $ how they want, I dont have a problem with that.

But if that same person wants to hop on a pedestal about corporate greed and are up in arms about $50 for a game, then that's when I think the mirror comes into play and i draw a line in my patience. That's why I said "sometimes" and "some people", because i dont have a hard philosophy on it

Re: Take-Two CEO Defends Red Dead Redemption's $50 Price Tag, Says It's "Commercially Accurate"

@GrailUK a lot of times (not always) I'm confused on why double or triple dipping on a game is a thing/not considered a waste of money itself. I musta been raised differently, but unless a copy of a game I have is either ruined or on a console that's obsolete in my house, then I have no need to get it again unless its remastered to a great degree. Even then I may not care, I mean I unironically play gameboy 'demakes' of old SNES games for fun. Obviously this concerns costs but mostly for how I approach my consumption of gaming.

Idk, it just seems like some ppl could look in the mirror about how they overall participate in this orgy of consumption we call society. Me though? I'm just grumpy about some comments, so maybe a bucket of ice water on the head and a tall glass of STFU would do me right
