@Masze I love super challenging games but for me mario vs dk really is a fun one. Even when it's apparent what the next step will be it's still fun to go through the motions. Music is fantastic as well. I play in small doses so it's been a great complimentary game to more in depth ones
@DashKappei I didn't want to watch too much of playthroughs online for fear of spoilers, but in terms of the gameplay - are there puzzles or games at some point you have to interact with to progress? I've never played a VN and this looks up my alley
This is cool. If this is the final update then I could see myself doing a playthrough later this year. Seems like lots of new content n fixes since my last play a while back
Nothing too heavy - Mario vs. DK (loving it), splatoon, street fighter and I randomly beat Magic Sword on the Capcom arcade last night. Have a good one, folks
The 1-2 Switch and Wario I disagree on. Those almost sound like Nintendo giving orders thru the titles and the exclamation point emphasizes that order. But some of those others are silly - Snow Day? Haha
@Friendly I have an XS and am probably one of the few who doesn't use gamepass on a regular basis just because of my playing habits, but it really is a good deal for games I wanna be 'one-n-done' with.
I'm curious how to take the Mario vs DK sales. Not that I expected a huge slam dunk like many of their releases, but overall, what's the expectation/how does this stack up to other similar caliber releases from N?
Finished Metroid Dread this week, really impressed and looking fwd to future playthroughs. I'll stay on the lighter side this wknd, I picked up Mario vs DK yesterday and will be mixing in some Splatoon and Devil World on the NES-NSO.
@JohnnyMind sure, thank you for the reminder and tips. I figure it won't push the limit of my patience or anything but I love DK puzzlers and even enjoyed the demo, despite those levels being a breeze
@JohnnyMind love to hear about the game's later levels being challenging. I was on the fence on getting it before but after watching a little on YouTube and comments like yours I will be picking it up this weekend or next
I think the absolute final time he updates this, if ever, is when I'll jump back in. I did pretty well with my first 2 runs, but then i got a glimpse of Kate Gray's awesome farm or whoever at NL wrote a recent piece on it and felt like i never 'went for it.' Great fun all the same (and yes a minor time slowdown would be sweet)
Probably worthy of a mini review but curious NLs thoughts on Golfinite on switch. Always down for a (good) old school mario golf-like game. Edit - I haven't played this so maybe was wrong article to comment on
@-wc- vague goalposts that constantly move and allow for the speculators to never be wrong over the course of months (years?) is the name and laughing it off as silly nonsense is my game
@johnedwin not sure I agree with nintendo sitting on money, I mean they opened up the theme park stuff and were involved with the Mario movie. Maybe that's not enough for you? (not being sarcastic)
I'm incredibly on the fence with this one. Short length is okay, I'm just curious how easy it is. Not that I found DK94 to be crazy hard, but even easier than that? (its the last dk game ive played). Guess I'll get the demo n see
@GoshJosh no I hear ya and youre right, I didn't mean to start some autosave debate or anything either. My original comment was intended to be more about the fact that 'I read the article and it still sounds like they xyz", but then I gave a half opinion about autosaving (which was unnecessary). Idgaf either way, let's go autosave, happy gaming
@GoshJosh I mean as a 5 year old human I had the presence of mind to save Mario All Stars, World, etc. before clicking the console off. Just doesn't seem that hard/big a deal
@Solomon_Rambling imo then they should say "manual save function is convoluted" as a con. But the actual con and the review just complain about manual saving in general because they forget to save the game. Idk what to say to that - don't forget? Like that's not much of a con if the option is there and you simply forget to do it? Unless I'm misunderstanding something
@MirrorFate2 I hate to agree but I didnt think it rebounded performance-wise on the switch. I waited til after some of the major updates (i think) and it was abysmal, hitting rock bottom w/ the final boss. Hesitant to replay because of this
@HeftyLaces yep that's a "you" problem but many others like myself face it too. For me it's a matter of scaling back expectations, realizing with my personality that I won't play or complete every game of interest unless I sacrifice whatever you wanna call it - enjoyment, immersion, etc. - due to my waning interest or 'stressed' conditions. A schedule has helped (like a game per month) and has led to my interests in other hobbies blossoming. Sorry for the tldr.
@Poodlestargenerica hmm you didn't address my question though. Is the answer no? You're suggesting she was hired based on race/sex? If so, would you care if a white man with the same qualifications was hired?
@Poodlestargenerica Harvard grad with 15+ years in a business capacity, GM of CoD who probably knows her worth and could take it elsewhere if she felt like it. Does none of this matter in their decision?
A remake is probably something i'd admire but doubt I'd enjoy (but I'm open to it). Idk nothings going to recapture the magic of playing it on release back in the day
@the_beaver I'm only 7-8 hours into Harvestella and feel the same. I'm not at all disappointed in it, but story wise some of it is just dumped on you and coulda been fleshed out with more time. Other small things as well
@DennisReynolds home console ports yeah, they definitely milked it, but it was a little more complicated in early 90s with arcades. Some of Capcom saw the first sf2 as complete, ready to focus on console ports/new games since sf2 was at the end of the traditional life cycle. Nin nin and Goddard pushed for more tweaks and iterations because of the arcade/tourney scene, they didn't think the game was truly complete and thus sold a crap ton more of refined iterations. Def uncommon but I think they get a slide with the arcade context and that those games rule
This was a great write up. Idk, reviews don't always sell me on a game for various reasons and it wasn't going to on this one from my lukewarm/positivish thoughts on OT1. Im glad to hear this one makes an impression down the road and will at least make me try the demo. Thanks
@msvt ahhh I'm on the 30th train too. My hours have definitely dropped from years past as I don't hop online nearly as much, but still love the arcades and occasional hour online. All of them are deep, if I had to choose I'd say Alpha 3 but honestly I'd play any, anytime. How about you?
@johnedwin totk has been out of top 10 for weeks, plus with 5 new entries and Wonder, where's the room? You'd already know this if you were paying attention instead of spamming PS5 stuff every other comment

@Solomon_Rambling haha you're right, pardon any snarkiness from my way.
Re: Review: Tomb Raider I-III Remastered (Switch) - The Best Way To Rediscover A Gaming Idol
@Rambler yeah you'd have to keep saving and only go back to your most recent point, if I remember right. Not too fun for certain Lost Levels

Played it in Sears or wherever way back when, that was enough. My vote is no, just wait til Nintendo releases a VR set someday.

@-wc- that's true too. Tbh I have yet to pick up the Atari 50th Collection and would probably get that before this haha
Re: Over 50 Years After The Original, Pong's Sequel Gets A Switch Release Date
@-wc- the atari site calls it an artful reimagining of pong and a sequel to qomp, which makes sense. A little confusing for sure.
For the game - actually looks decent, could get it for the right price
