@MirrorFate2 I hate to agree but I didnt think it rebounded performance-wise on the switch. I waited til after some of the major updates (i think) and it was abysmal, hitting rock bottom w/ the final boss. Hesitant to replay because of this
@HeftyLaces yep that's a "you" problem but many others like myself face it too. For me it's a matter of scaling back expectations, realizing with my personality that I won't play or complete every game of interest unless I sacrifice whatever you wanna call it - enjoyment, immersion, etc. - due to my waning interest or 'stressed' conditions. A schedule has helped (like a game per month) and has led to my interests in other hobbies blossoming. Sorry for the tldr.
@Poodlestargenerica hmm you didn't address my question though. Is the answer no? You're suggesting she was hired based on race/sex? If so, would you care if a white man with the same qualifications was hired?
@Poodlestargenerica Harvard grad with 15+ years in a business capacity, GM of CoD who probably knows her worth and could take it elsewhere if she felt like it. Does none of this matter in their decision?
A remake is probably something i'd admire but doubt I'd enjoy (but I'm open to it). Idk nothings going to recapture the magic of playing it on release back in the day
@the_beaver I'm only 7-8 hours into Harvestella and feel the same. I'm not at all disappointed in it, but story wise some of it is just dumped on you and coulda been fleshed out with more time. Other small things as well
@DennisReynolds home console ports yeah, they definitely milked it, but it was a little more complicated in early 90s with arcades. Some of Capcom saw the first sf2 as complete, ready to focus on console ports/new games since sf2 was at the end of the traditional life cycle. Nin nin and Goddard pushed for more tweaks and iterations because of the arcade/tourney scene, they didn't think the game was truly complete and thus sold a crap ton more of refined iterations. Def uncommon but I think they get a slide with the arcade context and that those games rule
This was a great write up. Idk, reviews don't always sell me on a game for various reasons and it wasn't going to on this one from my lukewarm/positivish thoughts on OT1. Im glad to hear this one makes an impression down the road and will at least make me try the demo. Thanks
@msvt ahhh I'm on the 30th train too. My hours have definitely dropped from years past as I don't hop online nearly as much, but still love the arcades and occasional hour online. All of them are deep, if I had to choose I'd say Alpha 3 but honestly I'd play any, anytime. How about you?
@johnedwin totk has been out of top 10 for weeks, plus with 5 new entries and Wonder, where's the room? You'd already know this if you were paying attention instead of spamming PS5 stuff every other comment
Fix the online lobbies so that when the host doesn't feel like waiting in line again they can't just shut the whole thing down. Not absurd to have open lobbies instead of ppl wasting their time when the host gets mad
@-wc- I try not to be too picky but honestly the bad d-pad takes some fun out of playing gameboy games. I prefer to play most gb games in a handheld format/as intended and without proper d-pads I just basically skip em altogether on switch
Re-upped my nso for street fighter but thinking I'll also jump back into splat 3 with the upcoming fest (thanks for the tip nl). On the flip side continuing secret of mana
@HeadPirate sure, I'm not saying anything is okay or not okay. If someone says they won't buy a game because of XYZ then so be it. Kotick wasn't going to be a good example, I acknowledge that and thank you for the nuanced civil response. I don't mean to stir anything up on this topic either, best keep my mouth shut sometimes. I actually agree with you too, I just didn't think the comments necessitated removal or thread lock I guess
@HeadPirate I'm sure some ppl went out of their way to hate on Kap, but at the same time are voicing an opinion on why they won't pick up this package. If a Blizzard review is overhauled by anti-Kotick statements saying they'd never touch one of their games as long as he's involved, sounds similar to me and par for the course? Maybe I'm wrong or missing it. Sorry about your friend though
I started Secret of Mana for first time, apparently already glitched it like an hour in funny since the snes cartridge I had access to as a kid would never save.
@EriXz ahhh nice, thanks for the background on how this is documented, Ill have a gander myself (already started). Gaming dev world is so far removed from my life, it's good to get a clearer interpretation or picture from those present and working for the man rather than tidbit soundbites from interviews that we have to interpret
@EriXz i hear ya, it's always good to remember ppl have a plethora of emotions that can be expressed, its easy to just dismiss someone as a d*** after an encounter or something but may not be the case overall, or at least best to not let cynicism take over
I worked at an immigration law firm, my boss was a partner. Sweetest most laid back guy in about every setting, but there was the occasional story of him getting mad, cussing, etc. That's not "good" but ppl (i.e. smaller fish, myself included) knew him beyond that and were truly dedicated / happy to work for him for years
@Teksetter they announced Trio the Punch as an 'upcoming release' in 2020 and it didn't come out until may 2022. Not sure if that was ever explained or counts
This museum is bonkers letting everyone go free range, I mean look at it. I've been to exclusive events where sure crazy line but it was organized, one item per person, etc. A little crowd control goes a long way
I have a few, but old school/simpler sports games were always good for ne. Baseball advance/greatest nine/super baseball, tecmo super bowl, mario tennis etc. Anything with a tournament/season mode
@BenAV same - if I catch a glimpse of like a certain character or the fact there's some alternate world or airship later in a game, then that can slightly spoil it for me. The anticipation I'd have waiting on them/it to appear takes away part of the sense of discovery. I hate it more in movies/sequels, but have seen it happen with games.
@Axecon maybe it wouldn't be a total loss for the parent. Thinking back on some of the crap-ish games I used to play a lot as a kid, I could see my younger self being gifted this and mastering it without a second thought haha
@delt75 my example has been Luigis mansion 3, which has little lines of dialogue that are unique to the game (answering telephones, calling for help, any cut scenes). I feel recycling could only go so far and might hinder future games in a sense. I'm sure Nintendo intends to pump out Mario games for another 40 years, so it's reasonable they'd move on (at some point). Edit - also commercials, promos, theme park stuff etc, might need a refresh
Either way, very touching send-off, wish CM the best
Slightly baffling release given the context of other recent square titles getting a better revamp (live a live, whatever mana titles) and FFs popularity. GBA versions proved these look great handheld and this kind of looks like a lateral step from that, which unfortunately I don't have the taste for. Maybe I'll change my mind at some point
@Anti-Matter I think the point is you seem to have your mind made up about not buying this and find an excuse to announce that on every article. The question isn't 'are you excited for Wonder?' like you said. It's "Do you think Nintendo's creativity will be on full display in this upcoming release?" which is a subtly different question in general and more different in the context of this article being about development deadlines, the creative process etc. No one thinks you're a villain and anyone should feel free to comment on games they don't want or even hate. But you are really just repeating yourself and being off-topic at this point
I'm hopeful the creativity will really make an impact because of how great the 2D portions in Odyssey were. That might be comparing apples and bowling balls, but if they can capture that kind of bubbly charm from those parts for this one then I'll be happy

Re: Talking Point: As A Nintendo Fan, Do You Really Need To Play The Virtual Boy?
Played it in Sears or wherever way back when, that was enough. My vote is no, just wait til Nintendo releases a VR set someday.
Re: Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster Series For Switch On Sale, 20% Off Every Title & Bundle
@nocdaes I played FF4 last year after probably 13-14 years (played it a good bit from release thru 00's), was a blast

Re: Over 50 Years After The Original, Pong's Sequel Gets A Switch Release Date
@-wc- that's true too. Tbh I have yet to pick up the Atari 50th Collection and would probably get that before this haha
Re: Over 50 Years After The Original, Pong's Sequel Gets A Switch Release Date
@-wc- the atari site calls it an artful reimagining of pong and a sequel to qomp, which makes sense. A little confusing for sure.
For the game - actually looks decent, could get it for the right price
