@SupremeAllah ahhh thanks for the heads up. That's a shame about the translation - I was gonna do switch anyway but will look for fan patches elsewhere, I've done it for a couple other titles.
@SupremeAllah yeah good call, getsufumaden does look pretty sweet actually so I'll give that a go. Thank you. Oh I meant 'meh' as in slim pickings relatively speaking, not hating on anyones taste
@SupremeAllah looking at their offerings on Switch (and others) would make it seem otherwise. Contra Rogue corps, random baseball crud, yugioh stuff, kinda meh no?
Tactics ogre and maybe scoop some arcade title(s) for fun. Looking to pick a good 3d platformer soon, but that's next year's problem happy new year everyone and NL
@ChromaticDracula mine was glitch city especially during the final boss, it looked like my screen got smashed. So yeah it was as bad and took away from my experience at the time
@tseliot haha so I never played it, was smoothly going thru first battles. Then the 4th battle just ramped up the difficulty and I was losing my mind trying to get it (rage quit twice). Took a break, a smoke, and was able to clear it pretty handedly, very satisfying. Point is - your memory is likely spot on.
@victordamazio from the bowels of the internet (stumbling through google). Its like showing professional sports/movie in venue. Seems a grey area since theres no declaration:
Video games are treated differently, though, primarily because they exist on a screen rather than a board. "A video game under copyright law is an audiovisual work, which gives a public performance right to the copyright holder," Dallas attorney and Law of the Game blog author Mark Methenitis explained in an interview with Ars. "Under the public performance right, the copyright holder is allowed to say when, where, or whether something is publicly performed, meaning displayed in front of a group of people larger than, say, at your house."
@Richardwebb yeah some people lease cars without ever buying. I have good internet/dont care/only have switch so the bellyaching never struck a chord with me. The whole "but you wont own the game"? Wouldn't play otherwise and more importantly - IDGAF, easy as that
Edit - I do agree about the price, kind of a bummer
I've had this crappy theory a while, but I think Nintendo is not selling their old SNES n n64 titles individually because why would anyone buy a console after a switch if so? Ppl would have every game they'd ever wanna play at any time/on the go, theres no incentive unless you just want (or rather need) a more powerful switch in the future and thirsting for new games. But not everyone's like that (think more casual gamers), so for that the switch has the "on the go" tax (i.e. subscription) for these titles
@sixrings agree with all that and see how that is a step back for a lot of people. Stepping outside my gamer self, only 2 of the 5 games I do online are nintendo games and are the least I play (probably says something). The messaging and voice chat would seem like a given for the price, but who knows, corporations gonna corporate? A shame
I dont think you're old n cranky, leave that to me.
@sixrings sure I believe you and not arguing. I feel bad for those who arent having a good time with it or have crappy connection issues, 20 bucks would probably feel silly to throw away. I guess I wanted to stress that not everyone is feeling the "ripoff" vibes
@MS7000 i pumped a couple thousand hrs between 5 online games, plus nes/SNES on deck. I know, "should just be free" but it ain't. Just don't feel too vexed when some ppl get their moneys worth. I could blow $20 in an arcade much quicker (if they were around )
Maybe New Pork Bossa from mother 3. The whole build up in the empire pork building was great. But theres countless others from this and other games that do the trick
(Not so) hard pass. Its crazy how Octo 1 had awesome battle system, graphics, music but the writing and character development were so bad. Stories and premise are fine, but when every character is this chippy caricature and all characters go through the same arc (you could time it, honestly), the map for this adventure suddenly became instructions on a packet of mac n cheese.
@Clyde_Radcliffe my guess is its the switch tax, like the reason it's full price is you get it portable now, rendering it a new experience. Just my guess (or hey let's get another 20 bones out of ppl, that too haha)
Lovin it. Half off topic but I think anyone complaining about Splatoon 3 not having enough content after 5 years should look at the History tab on this SF site, that run from 91-99 across multiple consoles is amazing. And I still play every single of em
@Burning_Spear I personally think the entire subscription service is in place so that people don't stock up on every single title for switch and not have enough reason to buy their new console whenever that's released.
My problem was playing mother 3 before earthbound. I think every aspect of M3 was better than EB - the comedy, pacing especially, bond with characters, story, and a million things more - that I only had admiration for EB when I played it recently and nothing more. Glad it's out the backlog but don't think I'll return to it ever
@HenHiro okay sure. I think I just respectfully disagree with you then, but I get what you're saying. Hopefully splat3 is a pleasant surprise of new treasures in the end for any player
@HenHiro I think your last sentence is where ppl are saying your argument falls apart. Every 5 years vs 1 year doesnt make it comparable to Fifa in the sense of well Ninty isnt chugging this out year by year. If you bought 5 years worth of fifa that's what 300 bucks? Vs 2 splatoons at 120. Whether it's a true sequel (really having a hard time how you're defining it) is almost separate at that point
@HenHiro hard to say, so I cant argue there but the motorcycle stage for Contra 3 is worth the admission price alone, my sweet mother did my family a favor bringing that into our lives
@HenHiro ha yeah that was mom n pop's money way back when. In terms of comparing eras, my comparison isnt fair because nowadays with DLC and such it's not the same structure obviously. I just mean a lot of ppl (me ) might not hold too high a standard on explosive differences in games that offer the amount of content Splat does. All 2d zelda/castlevania games are the same to me, just a couple new gimmicks/weapons and revamped graphics. So definitely not dissing your thought, but I myself dont care and will get my moneys worth from this
@JasmineDragon yeah it's strange. Curious if the same logic applied for fitness boxing 2 when they added new trainers, songs and backgrounds but didnt include a basketball mode
@NinChocolate even zelda had link to past, links awakening, awakeningdx, oracles ages, seasons, and minish cap in a short period of time. Granted they had major leaps in their 3d titles during that same period, but any of the above to me are just the same with new gimmicks/weapons, which I feel splat 3 will be? I'm probably way off
@NinChocolate it is strange to me how ppl are kinda putting this one down and saying "just make it a dlc." I dont have too hard an opinion on it and cant force anyone to be excited about the game, but just not sure what they expect. Franchises pump out the same crud all the time at a more frequent rate. Cant put my finger on it
Short or long, challenging or not, I just want it to be fun. The demo didnt knock me out my boots but I'll def be waiting for NLs review to see if there's any magic in it. Fingers crossed!
Call me old fashion but what are these guys talking about? Original mario kart had like 8 characters and I played it endlessly. I honestly don't even understand half the jargon they're mentioning. Less is more for me, and wont be getting this anytime soon

"Prepare to waste a staggering amount of time messing around and fiddling with all of this stuff is what we're saying."
This is what unfortunately turned me off about 3H, just way too much going on that I had little interest in. This is an easy pass for me

Re: Shigeru Miyamoto, Creator Of Super Mario And Zelda At Nintendo, Turns 70
@sanderev oh oh totally my bad, I misunderstood you then. I agree and am leaning towards the clickbaity portion unfortunately. No shame I suppose
Re: Shigeru Miyamoto, Creator Of Super Mario And Zelda At Nintendo, Turns 70
@sanderev I myself would not go that far. It just reads like an obit headline like the trillion others we see
Miyamoto, creator of Mario, has passed
Miyamoto, creator of Mario, turns 70
For a bubbly personality and legend, it's a lame way to announce it and doesnt emphasize the bday.
Re: Shigeru Miyamoto, Creator Of Super Mario And Zelda At Nintendo, Turns 70
@KingdomTears "happy 70th bday to zelda/ mario creator Miyamoto" would have been fine.
