@CharlieGirl weak argument though. You said the same 'nintendont' about a super mario 2 rom hack and how many millions of copies did that original sell? Sometimes nintendo doesnt have to do anything because the originals are good enough.
@Switch_Pro agreed. I love ff6 but that ones bloated enough as is and probably easiest game to exploit, not sure why the exp/gil boosts as well. But just my thoughts, not hatin'
@Selim they were banking on folks like me who havent played it in 15 years, I loved it then but forgot it to the point of grabbing this remake. I love it but doubt it's worth getting if fresh in your mind
If you're against the price hike fine, but I hate this otherness people create about consumers being "stupid" with their money and blindly buying whatever. Maybe ppl took all of your points into consideration and agree to an extent but in the end think "i need something to cheer me up for next few months" or maybe havent bought a game in ages so 10 extra is fine. It doesnt disprove anything about corporate greediness and such but this belittling of consumers is annoying, quit assuming the worst in ppl over something out of their control
@BrazillianCara I wont say the concept is bad but some of the writing felt stifled by cramming itself into that package in Octo 1 and I never felt 'swept away' by any story, maybe Haanits. I actually loved playing it in 2 hr blocks per chapter, but there was no depth to the characters and lots of the melodramatic "gee golly let's not give up hope" dialogue didnt make up for it. Wasnt funny or touching or mysterious or much really. Still put 90 hrs into it and this review gives me hope, though doubt I get it for a while
Donkey kong country on SNES was 70 on launch 30 years ago...so they went back down in price for a while? And ninty is a blood sucking corporation all this time? Im lost
I'm not into botw but i would if I was excited for a game that I would dump hundreds of hours into and is incredibly entertaining, seems like a decent return on investment. Not advocating for it all the same
@GameOtaku I think it's just a business decision. If they charged less for online but sold retro games separately, then I'd probably buy like 3-4 games tops (either played a million times or not enough interest to purchase). So the amount of money they hose from me with a yearly subscription costs more than that hypothetical. Perhaps Ninty wasnt making a killing selling retro titles individually, and decided to roll it in with the online service (at a higher price) for suckers like me who found a happy medium between price, online and rental of titles I'll rarely touch. Maybe wasnt worth it to them to give consumers more options
Tldr who knows what they're thinking, especially in regards to non online gamers
I might up the subscription when it expires in June to play this and others. Not many n64 games I really wanna own long term and hard to jump on another shooter with Splatoon still half fresh for me. Very nice either way
@geshem oh the writing is a separate thing that I've moaned about way too much haha. Everyone is all "gee golly" in their speech, no characters have actual flaws/dark side, and only hampered further by the "octo" gimmick (is it really that unique of a set up?) Enough to where I wouldnt get this if it's the same
Without a doubt basically all Cloister of Trials in FFX. It's so lame, I couldn't imagine doing it pre-youtube days. Plus I loved FFXs story so being pulled away from it to press wall buttons for half an hour compounded my frustration
I randomly started a second farm and loving it more than my first playthrough from couple years ago. Bittersweet seeing the play time reach 30 hrs since I mostly play it when I cant sleep.
@SupremeAllah ahhh thanks for the heads up. That's a shame about the translation - I was gonna do switch anyway but will look for fan patches elsewhere, I've done it for a couple other titles.
@SupremeAllah yeah good call, getsufumaden does look pretty sweet actually so I'll give that a go. Thank you. Oh I meant 'meh' as in slim pickings relatively speaking, not hating on anyones taste
@SupremeAllah looking at their offerings on Switch (and others) would make it seem otherwise. Contra Rogue corps, random baseball crud, yugioh stuff, kinda meh no?
Tactics ogre and maybe scoop some arcade title(s) for fun. Looking to pick a good 3d platformer soon, but that's next year's problem happy new year everyone and NL
@ChromaticDracula mine was glitch city especially during the final boss, it looked like my screen got smashed. So yeah it was as bad and took away from my experience at the time
@tseliot haha so I never played it, was smoothly going thru first battles. Then the 4th battle just ramped up the difficulty and I was losing my mind trying to get it (rage quit twice). Took a break, a smoke, and was able to clear it pretty handedly, very satisfying. Point is - your memory is likely spot on.
@victordamazio from the bowels of the internet (stumbling through google). Its like showing professional sports/movie in venue. Seems a grey area since theres no declaration:
Video games are treated differently, though, primarily because they exist on a screen rather than a board. "A video game under copyright law is an audiovisual work, which gives a public performance right to the copyright holder," Dallas attorney and Law of the Game blog author Mark Methenitis explained in an interview with Ars. "Under the public performance right, the copyright holder is allowed to say when, where, or whether something is publicly performed, meaning displayed in front of a group of people larger than, say, at your house."
@Richardwebb yeah some people lease cars without ever buying. I have good internet/dont care/only have switch so the bellyaching never struck a chord with me. The whole "but you wont own the game"? Wouldn't play otherwise and more importantly - IDGAF, easy as that
Edit - I do agree about the price, kind of a bummer

Re: GameStop Fires Employee For Leaking Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom Switch
@CharlieGirl the number of times you saying this exact generic "argument" while supporting the same company with your $$ is also disconcerting
Re: Mario Movie's Opening Box Office Predicted To Be The Biggest Of 2023 So Far
Really hope Miyamoto's contract includes a % of the box office haul. Pay the man!

Re: Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster Pre-Orders Being Charged, Launch Date Reveal "Not Quite Ready"
@HefHughner considering how prevalent a lot of their old school releases are (Mana Collection and other FFs come to mind) it is a bit strange
Re: Decarnation Brings Disturbing, Disgusting Pixel Art Horror To Switch In May
@DrGonzo or maybe because the publisher referenced Kon and Lynch?

Re: Nintendo's Official MAR10 Day Sale Is Starting Next Week
Smbu deluxe was such a vanilla title for me, no charm and a breeze with short levels. Cant believe it costs as much as some of these other ones

@geshem I got through 85 hrs of octo1 by switching to japanese audio w subtitles, if it means anything. Lame for me otherwise

Re: Check Out These Sublime Soundtrack Samples From Octopath Traveler II
I learned H'aanits theme from the first on piano, love it and the rest of soundtrack to bits. I doubt I buy OP2 but will check out its ost either way
Re: Hands On: Fire Emblem Engage Is Surprisingly Fast-Paced And Delightfully Deep
"Prepare to waste a staggering amount of time messing around and fiddling with all of this stuff is what we're saying."
This is what unfortunately turned me off about 3H, just way too much going on that I had little interest in. This is an easy pass for me

Re: Shigeru Miyamoto, Creator Of Super Mario And Zelda At Nintendo, Turns 70
@sanderev oh oh totally my bad, I misunderstood you then. I agree and am leaning towards the clickbaity portion unfortunately. No shame I suppose
Re: Shigeru Miyamoto, Creator Of Super Mario And Zelda At Nintendo, Turns 70
@sanderev I myself would not go that far. It just reads like an obit headline like the trillion others we see
Miyamoto, creator of Mario, has passed
Miyamoto, creator of Mario, turns 70
For a bubbly personality and legend, it's a lame way to announce it and doesnt emphasize the bday.
