@Carck You are correct. Also if we're talking abut USA/Canada specifically then wages have actually increased.
But remember Nintendo didn't do any mass layoffs like all the other companies in the industry in 2023. And remember Nintendo's average salary is the second highest in western japan. They are a company that values retaining their employees for a long time. And they are expanding right now.
Maybe don't compare the adjusted prices to the NES days because people's eyes just gloss over and they make silly responses like the first few above. But just compare the adjusted prices to 2017 (when the Switch 1 launched) and I think we can all see a problem that Nintendo and all the other companies in the industry have right now.
This will particularly be good for specialty controllers. I could see myself using the official GCN controller for a wide variety of modern platformers but I would probably have to tweak the button mapping for each game.
As a physical collector, I'm a little worried about cartridge size. Right now the Xbox is the version to get because it has two discs for the dlc where the PS5 version has a download.
I'm really surprised they didn't show a new 3D mario but this is pretty cool too. I hate that my brain now associates this DK design with Seth Rogan though.
This was truely an amazing generation for Nintendo. I think the only thing that comes close maybe is the GCN/GBA combo. I hope the jump to more powerful hardware doesn't slow down the development of all their creative games.
I think Ubisoft makes good games but they have trained us to wait a few months after release for their games to be like 80% off. It's just bad for business.
If I have to narrow down a library of hundreds of great games down to just 8:
2017 - Breath of the Wild 2018 - Super Smash Bros Ultimate 2019 - Fire Emblem Three Houses 2020 - Animal Crossing New Horizons 2021 - Metroid Dread 2022 - Xenoblade Chronicles 3 2023 - Super Mario Bros Wonder 2024 - Echoes of Wisdom
After Generations, I'm now afraid that if they do remake the Adventure games then they will rewrite the script and redub with the new cast. That would not be cool.
My first impression is that I wish it was like "Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons" where you control both bros. Luigi does everything by himself and that doesn't feel satisfying.
I've landed on an 8 for Shadow Generations. It's the best 3D Sonic has been in 20 years. Shadow is easy to control and responsive but still moves really fast. Absolutely fantastic levels. Its just a shame that there are so few of them (and two of the inclusions were very odd). I loved that the 3D acts were pure 3D with no 2D transitions. And the 2D second acts were actually really good also. This definitely should be the template for future Sonic titles. It feels like a return to form from the 2001-2009 era.
I was actually kind of disappointed with the level selection from Shadow Generations. One game in particular had no stage and one of the included stages was from a game that should not have been included.
Censorship is usually a bad thing and in this case it's a net negative change. Nothing offensive so I'll still buy it, but still its silly. I thought Ian Flynn was in charge of this one.

Re: Nintendo Comments On Mario Kart World's Controversial Price
Nintendo is giving you a discount on the $70 games. Mario Kart is the only one priced properly.

@AJ1 Yes it will. And original joycons can be synced also.
Re: Switch 2 Games Cost A Bit More Than You're Probably Expecting
I went through the entire 8 years of Switch 1 refusing to pay more than $60 CAD for Nintendo games. I'll do the same for Switch 2.

I bought this game a few months ago and now I feel like a total chump.
Re: GameCube Games Confirmed For Nintendo Switch Online On Switch 2
The best part of this announcement was the new GCN controllers. I've been wanting new first party GCN controllers for the entire 8 years of Switch 1.

I like how they don't tell us who is developing any of their games except if Sakurai is involved.
Re: "I Would Trade Tetris For Mario" - Henk Rogers On Dealing With Nintendo's President
It was never going to happen. He just wanted to make it clear that that Tetris meant to him what Mario meant to Nintendo.

I assumed they would do Magical Melody next but this one is fine too.

BDSP weren't really remakes so I voted for Sinnoh again.

I live in Canada so affordability is out the window. I plan on selling some Switch stuff to cover the cost.

@Haruki_NLI
72 first party million unit sellers is insane. I had to fact check that.

Re: Random: Astro Bot "Almost Outdid Nintendo At Its Own Game", Jokes Reggie
I platinum'd Astrobot and it was very good for a platformer on a Sony console. Doesn't hold a candle to Mario though.
